Sorceress 101

After getting bloated from eating they decided to rest for a while. Mu Lingxi sat down on a large rock beside the lake. She looked up and observed the night sky. Stars were scattered everywhere as if someone accidentally spilled diamonds all over it.

"This place was so relaxing"

Yanyan commented as she settled herself on the grass. She looked at her young miss then back to the little black cat who was busy fiddling on the lake water.

"What a wonderful night. The cold breeze and starry night. Even the moon was shining brightly above. Such a nice place, so romantic. How nice it could be if I can share it with someone,... like a date or something"

Mu Lingxi thought to herself as she looked to her company. One fragile looking girl and a cat.

She patted her c.h.e.s.t and said,

" Don't be sad Lingxi, someone somewhere is sharing the same lonely heart with you. It's okay,... it's okay..."

she said it slowly with closed eyes as if saying a prayer.

"MEOW" [ Woa!!! Hey little lass. Look what I've got! ]

the cat leaped from the lake and went to Mu Lingxi's side.

Janus had a fish between his teeth and he placed it in front of Mu Lingxi.

"WHATDA HEEEEEEELLLLL!!!!" Lingxi shrieked and almost fell from to lake due to her fright.

"Janus! You naughty cat! You loved teasing me..."

Lingxi panted and while calming her heartbeat that was beating too hard, she looked back at the weird-looking fish near her.

Yanyan was startled for her young miss reaction and soon find out the reason why. She glanced at the freshly picked fish that was currently gasping on the ground.

"That is a BAMBINO FISH young miss. It is best for brewing medicinal soups. It can be sold up to 100 gold coins."

"That much??!!" Lingxi exclaimed. "Are you sure that this one is edible?" she added with a twitching face.

"Of course I am young miss. Your grandfather loves to enjoy a bowl of BAMBINO FISH soup during cold days" Yanyan replied with a smile.

"B..Bu...But this one looks horrible! Can't you see?! It has the face of a baby! A B-A-B-Y for Pete's sake!!! How come a fish could look like that?!"

she still can't believe that her loving and doting grandfather loves to eat such horrible looking food.

He imagined Mu Ruochen enjoying a bowl of warm soup slurping vigorously while observing the rain falling on the window.

"He must have a weird choice of food if that is the case"

Mu Lingxi finds it hard to add this weird looking food to her "must try" menu.

"Ohh I see, well there was a legend before about the BAMBINO FISH. It was said that it was the doing of a warlock. His wife cheated on him and run away with another man. The wife got pregnant and the warlock was so furious and devastated. So he cast a spell and cursed the baby turning it into a fish."

Yanyan narrated as she looked at the funny expression of her young miss.

"That was horrible."

That was all she could say.

"Although it was just a legend,... It still reflected how warlocks and sorceress can be terrifying" Yanyan added.

"Yanyan, what do you think about learning magic?" Mu Lingxi asked her maidservant out of the blue.

"It was a great privilege to get to learn magic,..even a commoner can rise above the ranks because of it. Magic is highly sought by powers that is why every warlocks and sorceress has powerful backing. They were highly celebrated wherever they went ."

Yanyan answered with sparkling eyes as if she was talking about her lover.

"MEOW"

[ It seems that it is the same reason why your grandfather wants you to learn magic. Most probably he wants to create a strong foothold for you and your cousin once anyone of you ascended to the throne and enter the palace. ]

Janus said as he walked and brushed his body to Mu Lingxi's shin.

"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. How I wish I could learn magic. That could be a great help for both of us." Mu Lingxi replied to her cat.

"Come on, it's getting late now. We have to go"

She carried her cat back to her arms and summoned Yanyan. They begin to walk back to Mu clan's residence. When Lingxi finally felt the familiar soft mattress at her back, she started to get drowsy.

"I want to learn magic" she whispered as she falls asleep.
