Sorceress 101

Chapter 79 - MERFOLK (2)

The moment the other passengers regain their senses, they become fully alert and readied their wand in one swift motion. The split second of interference is all they need for them to snap out of their trance and create a protective barrier around them on instinct.

It was a good thing that the ship is also equipped with magic that can be activated in short notice. Upon realizing that something was off, the cabin crews did not hesitate to trigger the magical array installed in the premises.

Everyone was sure caught off guard, but as soon as they realized the crux of the situation they dive into action right away.

In a blink of an eye, the ship becomes cloaked with a light barrier barring any sound from the outside to enter the protective area.

The passengers heaved a sigh of relief and almost slumped on the ground as cold sweat drenched their back and send shivers down their spine. It feels like something was tugging their soul just a moment ago. If not for the timely distraction on the sound waves, they might be a goner now.

It's fortunate that a mysterious roar saves them at the last minute, or else they might meet their maker in advance already.

The origin of the mysterious roar with the hint of hoariness came from was unknown to them, but they were thankful for its timely emergence.

Without it, it will be hard to imagine what may have come to them. They might possibly die before they even understand what was happening!

They helplessly looked at their brethren as the merfolks drag them underwater. No one was brave enough to dare and act as a hero at this point in time.

After all, most of the passengers were just amateur magicians. If one will look, most of them were still in their teens. So it was inevitable that their guts were not fully developed yet.

Besides, they were mostly strangers at one another that is why they don't see the point of risking their lives for those people they barely knew.

Yes, they do know a bit or two about magic but those were just barely enough to help them preserved their lives.

Casualties like this, although a bit troubling, was just a trivial matter for the school.

It was a common knowledge that this journey comes with great danger lurking at the darkness waiting to ambush them. Thus it was expected of them to be wary of their surroundings at all times.

Accidents like this were not entirely beyond their expectations.

Maybe for the school, they find it as some sort of trial as well that is why they let the students venture like this. Everyone should always be at their peak condition and any bit of negligence will bring you to danger.

In the worst-case scenario, it might send you to the death door!

They have no one to blame aside from their own negligence and incapability if something happens to them on their way to school, and the school wont bares its consequences.

Such harsh treatment, but in reality, they were just reflecting the truth about the world. Life is just as harsh as that. You and no one else will be the only one responsible for your deeds.

If your judgment fails, if you had lapses on your action, it was you who will be implicated.

In a sense, the school was just reflecting this kind of living arrangement.

"This is more like it"

Somehow Mu Lingxi feel that from the moment she step outside the Mu Clan's residence and sail to this ship, that is the only time that her life officially started since her transmigration.
