Sorceress 101

The entrance exam proceeded smoothly without any mishaps. The fresh buds of Magus Academia patiently waited for their turn as they lined up.

"... RED.."

"...Red.."

"ORANGE!!!"

"...another red..."

The hall glows correspondingly on the level of proficiency of the student taking the examination.

The vibrant colors keep flashing and it almost blinded everyone around with its radiance as students carried on with their entrance examination one after another.

It did not take long for Mu Lingxi's turn to come.

Before entering the hall where the examination was being held, she inhaled deeply and with one swift blow, she exhaled loudly to ease her nervousness.

Using the small dagger on the table placed next to a crystal-like stone, she made a small cut on her finger. Her crimson blood drops on the crystal-like stone and she waited for the result to came as she held her breath.

The time seems to freeze and Mu Lingxi feels like everything was turning into slow motion. She stared intently on the rainbow moonstone praying for all her great ancestors to produce some miracle for her.

"Ohh stony stone. Please be good to me. You have to cooperate or else... I will go and smash you right here, right there."

In that instant, the rainbow moonstone started to emit a faint light, gradually turning into red!

"Phew! That was a close call. "

Mu Lingxi heaved a sigh of relief upon witnessing the rainbow moonstone radiating red light. The light was so faint that it pales in comparison to those light emission from the previous examinee, but that was least of her concern.

At this point, she cannot afford to be choosey, at least she was now eligible to be a student of Magus Academia.

Yet, before she could rejoice for her achievement, the red light faded!

Horror struck her and she almost plucked her hair out of frenzy.

"What the heck happen to my red light!!!! It's definitely there, I swear!"

She hurriedly explained herself to the test administrator who was responsible for monitoring the results of the exam. Afraid that it will deem her result as fail.

But before they could process what was happening, the rainbow moonstone radiated another color and now it is orange!

Then as if it was unsure what to do, it flickered and show another color. Yellow! Then form green to blue, indigo, violet, back to red then it keeps flashing different colors like a Christmas light.

"Err... Sir, I think the rainbow moonstone was malfunctioning???"

Mu Lingxi said sheepishly while the examiner had its face twitching upon seeing this bizarre phenomenon.

He had been monitoring the entrance examination of Magus Academia for more than a decade now and this was his first time encountering this. WEIRD!

"Is it possible that the rainbow moonstone feels bored all of a sudden that is why it decided to show off some of its colors today???"

"MEOW"

[Woah! Do you see that little lass?? You really got talent! You were able to turn the stone into a disco light!]

[I think it's not a bad idea to procure some of that rainbow moonstones in the future, so we can have our own portable disco light.]

"Have anyone told you before that you really got a distorted thought about life at some aspect???"

"MEOW"

[Nah!! This is what you called...creative and innovative.]

Janus reckoned proudly with his whiskers moving up and down.

"KACHA!"

Lines after lines started to appear on the crystal-like stone and with one last crack...

"BOOM!!!!"

The rainbow moonstone shattered into pieces.

Mu Lingxi's body went stiff due to fright and shock but the test administrator was quick at his reflexes as he immediately created a protected barrier to avoid the flying broken shards of the rainbow moonstone.

"This..... is it considered a pass?"

As stifled as he was inside, he cannot bring himself blaming the young man for what happened. This rainbow moonstone was usually sturdy and resilient. Why did it shatter all of a sudden in this untimely manner, during the entrance examination?

The test administrator passes Mu Lingxi her dorm key and a red emblem. He decided to consider her result as 'red' for the meantime until everything is clear. He will have to report this to the schoolmaster.

With that, Mu Lingxi managed to successfully pass the entrance examination with flying colors, literally.
