Spiderweb

103 Miss

She flinched when she felt his skin against her's. But it wasn't his lips, and it wasn't against her lips either. It was his finger against her eyelid.

"Y-your e-eyes," Antonin stuttered, pushing Regan away with his trembling hands.

Regan stared at his red face blankly, still trying to comprehend what had happened. "W-What?"

Antonin covered his face, "I l-like your eyes. T-they're pretty."

Regan slid back into a position directly facing him. "You like my eyes?" she cocked her head.

Antonin nodded quickly, unable to look at her.

Regan chuckled, "what happened to the splash of confidence you had a moment again?"

Ryder rolled his eyes, "Gone apparently, and just when we had touchdown too."

"Oh shut up," Antonin retorted through a flushed face.

"Don't and pretend you didn't wa-"

"I said shut up," Antonin growled.

Ryder didn't reply.

Regan gave a short chuckle, then turned to the little drop of whipped cream on her table. 'What in the world was that?' she pondered, scooting back to behind the table and leaning against the couch behind her. 'What the fuck was that?' she thought again, touching her lips slightly. 'I've lost my mind.'

It was hilarious. So pathetic and stunning that it was hilarious. The fact that she gave in for that one second was hilarious, so funny that it scared her. One minute she's depressed, the next she's spilling things about her, the next she's about to kiss someone. It felt like a domino effect that she didn't want to go through.

'Haha… how much more pathetic can I get?' Regan chuckled. She hated herself for this and she hated herself more because she knew why she almost wanted to go through with the way things were going earlier. 'I'm fucking stupid,' she grinned, 'why did I have to know? Why couldn't I feign ignorance? Why couldn't I just ignore it…? Why- No… that's not the question to ask...' She wanted to not know. Wanted to pretend she didn't know anything around her. 'Why do I not want to know?'

She didn't want to be able to read through some people, didn't want to know that she couldn't read through others and she certainly didn't want to read through herself, because when she knew she would want to do something about it. Ignorance was a skill and knowledge was a level in life. She wished she hadn't passed that level.

And personality-wise? It felt like a completely different person. Not Ryder, not Antonin, it felt like Antonin and Ryder mixed into one frightening monstrosity. It was terrifying.

With a curious eye, she turned to Antonin. She wanted to see more, she wanted to know more.

"What was that?" She muttered, turning away from Antonin.

"Hm?" Antonin's head turned to her's, his flushed face finally settling to its usual shade, "did you say something."

"I said," Regan locked eyes with him, "what was that?"

"Ah…" Antonin nervously looked away.

Regan was more intrigued. "Not gonna tell me?"

Antonin's thick lips pressed against each other tightly, like he had applied some adhesive glue to them and smacked them against each other. He wasn't uttering a sound.

"Hm? What's this? Antonin and grow shyer?" Regan teased, inching over to Antonin and turning his face over to her's. She held it squarely in her hands, "why so quiet? Is it like a big secret? Some superpower?" she chuckled, playfully shaking his head, "are you, Superman?"

Antonin turned to her, his eyes glowing in defiance. "Do you do this with everyone? Grab them as you wish?"

Regan trembled, 'There it was again… that look.' She pushed away her thoughts and smirked, "Didn't you do the same earlier. We're both guilty aren't we?"

"Hmm," Antonin nodded, "agreeable."

He pushed Regan away and avoided her eyes. "Fusion."

"What?" Regan's eyebrow furrowed, "fusion?"

"Yup," Antonin grinned, "as to what it is, I'm sure you can guess on your own, right?"

"Yea.." Regan nodded, easing back to her seat. 'Even his attitude changed.'

"Anyways! You're done eating right? I need to go now… sorry…" Antonin pouted.

'There it is again… that change…' Regan cocked her head. Her eyes trailed to his cart. 'Should I make him stay? It's going to be four hours till the next time I see him… will it be too late then?' she pondered, her gaze skirting back to Antonin, 'it doesn't seem like he would stay. Dammit.'

"Wow~ you must really want to get away from me that quickly huh?" Regan pouted.

"What no! I just really need to get my paycheck this month. Vixen's eyes are everywhere and my workload reflects on my check. I don't work, I don't get paid so I really need to go," Antonin touched his neck with a nervous grin, his expression soon turning to a perflexed one, "He's really weird and has this supreme aura around him, doesn't he? Like he's watching from everywhere and pinning you down with his gaze? Have you ever felt th-"

He immediately shut up when he locked eyes with Regan. She didn't even need to speak for him to know that he needed to close his mouth. In a way, her gaze reminded him of his but her's… her's was something else was a similar origin. She was different. He didn't want to know why.

"Should I go then-" He began, standing up from his seat.

"Yea… you can go," Regan nodded, she looked up at him cheerfully, "do you know what's for lunch?"

Antonin paused before smirking, "That's a surprise."

"Rude," Regan crossed her arms.

Ryder shook his head, "been called that many times."

"Can't relate," Antonin chuckled.

"Y'all are a hot mess," Regan shook her head.

"Damn right about the hot part," Ryder smirked.

"Oml shut up and get out," Regan grinned.

"Be back soon," Ryder waved as he started to push the cart to the door of the room, "Doll yourself up for me while I'm gone ok?"

"I don't look good for anyone boo," Regan rolled her eyes.

"Hmm…" Ryder paused until a smug smile crawled onto his face, "not yet at least."

"You-" Regan growled.

"I'mma shut him up now," Antonin chuckled nervously. He turned around and prepared to leave before turning around one more time. "Bye Regan…"

"Hmm," Regan smiled, "bye."

Antonin turned around before she could see his blush and quickly left the room, closing the door behind him.

Regan stared at the door for a moment before shakingly standing up. She walked over to the door of her bathroom and walked into it, turning to a wall where a mirror should have hung. The entire room was suicide proof. No danger. All rounded edges on every surface, the ceiling had two layers, one made of wood and the other the actual ceiling. She found that out after gaining a large bruise on her leg and breaking her ceiling. There was no hot items in the room and there were three cameras. One in plain sight and the other she had no idea where they were. She learned about that in the same week that she bruised her knee and got a new camera installed in her bathroom.

She had wasted energy trying to destroy the first.

Slowly she undressed and walked near her bathtub, leaning over it and pressing a button. There's a moment of silence followed by the churnings of water and Regan watches as they spill forward into her tub, slowly filling it up. She tossed in a bath bomb and watched as it melted the filling tub. It was in the color rainbow.

The water shuts off and Regan slipped into the tub, groaning when the warm water washed against her skin. It was the perfect temperature too, she almost fell asleep. It wasn't like she was going to die anyways if she fell asleep and drifted under the soft soapy waters of the water. She only had 30 minutes until it would drain away.

She picked up the bar of soap sitting on the wide edge of her tub and slathered it on the sponge which she picked up from beside it. She had tried it just a few days after her bruise. It had tasted just like it smelt, a fruit basket with amplified scents. Sweet and a bit strong, but it was non-toxic. A disappointment when she found out. She brushed her teeth to the point that it bled the day after, the taste had stuck with her.
