Spiritual Seed Awakening

Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6: Preparation and Growth

After some measurement of time, and many worms later, I have grown into a chubby baby in a seed. I used my bait-stun combo to perfection, and earned a lot of souls.

I have not moved much in fear of gaining the attention of some creature stronger than myself. I have been lucky nothing but Corpse worms have shouwn up.

The mana I have been able to get has filled my reserves about ten percent after so much effort. My soul's power is much stronger than my mana now. I need to quickly find a way to change this imbalance.

I can eat the corpse worm souls, but I can't really absorb manna as well with my main body. Some of the Corpse worms absorbed some mana before dying. So when they die, my second body is able to absorb mana from their corpses.

I have no sense of taste within the worm, but the extra mana is nice. My main body, on the other hand, is still digesting mana from the stone.

There is a limit of how much I can absorb at one time with my main body. After compressing the manna, and storing it. My main body feels tired. So I mainly use my second body to eat their corpses and absorb most of the mana.

The only thing I have found underground is [Corpse worms]. I have deduced that I am in a place with a harsh environment, and enough things die to feed these worms. So it's not that safe. Who knows what's around me.

The worm souls I've eaten have explored the area for me. I have a mental map of the area underground. It's mostly dirt, rock, and the rare magic crystal.

I guess that I'm underground in a cavern or something. None of these worms that have been to the surface know what the sun is. If am underground in some sort of cavern, I need to find a way out.

The shapes of the rocks around me tell me where I am. My mental map allows me a good idea of where I am, but the rocks around me act as markers.

My soul power is stronger, but I am still careful when using it in case something more powerful notices a yummy seed. I have grown strong enough to where eating [Corpse Worms] is simple. The only problem their soul energy, and manna is of little use to me now.

My body is strong enough to bear my soul now. I can stay awake longer in both of my bodies now. I keep eating now, but it's more of a for fun than anything. I have also learned everything there is to learn about corpse worms body and soul. My second body had grown much stronger, but this has grown dull.

It takes a strong will to hunt these worms for so long with no way of telling time. I've lost count of the corose worms I've eaten.

The real excitement is when larger life forms above ground walk over me. I was cautious when looking, but after eating all those worm souls. I found out not just the dead hang around this dump of a cave, and most creatures don't have a lot of soul power here.

The worms have gathered a wide range of information for lack of sight, hearing, and touch. I saw the cave for myself through the worms.

My mental map was able to retrace their "steps" to create a rough idea of the cave. The worms also gave me enough of an idea for me to test using the second body.

l doubt I can see the ceiling, but about four feet above ground around my area is not a big deal for me. The first time I looked I saw bugs, little zombie pest of different kinds, and not much else.

I watch as they all move. I scan around and notice dead things lack souls for the most part. I find the closest undead near me. I examine this undead, and find these creatures do have some souls that are weak.

The undead for the most part have fragments of their soul, but thesefragments are weak. They usually, contain memories of how they died or strong memories.

Resentment and anger seem to be the most common after getting brave enough to steal a few. I am now strong enough to eat weak souls of the dead easily.

Low level dead do not really have much of a grip on their souls' fragments anyway. This was a low risk due to only eating undead insects no one would miss.

I learned that recent dead gain a chance at being undead after absorbing death energy and there seems to be plenty here.

There are also rare cases of beings that have strong wills refusing to give up somthing that reawaken.

The souls of the dead grow weaker over time. Living creatures have a stronger bond to their soul. They do not lose soul strength for some reason.

My guess is a living body is like a vase, while a dead body is like a vase a hole. The living body preserving any soul power from leaking.

This is only a guess at best though. My second body is dead as a door knob, and my soul strength in it's body has been growing stronger. I have studied souls for some time, and still feel ignorant on the subject.

Also, the dead's soul fragments usually have memories that are blurry, and hard to read at best in good situations.

After gaining a good amount of strength after eating all those worm souls, I begin to grow bored of this lifestyle. If I stay safe, I live longer. If I explore more, I risk the unknown, and possible death.

The research I have done has shown it should not be instant death. I will be careful and plan well before I explore. I need to rest though. I plan to rest well before I begin.

I need to be ready.I rest both of my bodies while leaving my "eyes" open around my bodies just in case.
