Spoken Lies And Broken Ties

Chapter 7 - His Conceitedness

Two more lectures and then I can actually go home. I have had enough drama for today, I am too tired to take anymore of it. Don't get me wrong; I don't dread the lectures usually. Seeing him again and the fact that I'll have to tolerate him every day wasn't exactly exciting for me. This realization made my mind sour. But I know I will have to do this as I have no other option to take this.

After the break was over, students started filling in the class. The teacher came in shortly after all the students settled down. "Good morning students. My name is John Hall. You can call me Mr Hall or simply sir. I'll be teaching you all Human Resource Management this semester. I need one hundred percent attention and concentration from you guys in my class. I won't tolerate lousy behaviour in my class. While in my class you are either studying or out of class for not studying. If anyone wants to backout and switch their classes, they can do so by this week's end. Sit in my class if you really want to study otherwise please be kind enough to not attend the class. Are we clear? So we shall start now." Professor Hall said seriously and continued with the class.

Mr Hall was a person who has a no-nonsense attitude. And that wasn't an issue for me, it had never been because I've been a straight A student my whole life but his scrutinizing eyes on me has started to worry me now. "So you are the new girl everybody's talking about. You are Mr Thomas's daughter?" that made me stand in my seat. "Yes, sir. My name is Rebecca Thomas." I said introducing myself to the teacher and to the rest of the class and sat down. What's the deal with him? He seemed like he was judging me. I thought it was a good thing to be the daughter of one of the trustees of the college. I guess Mr Hall wasn't so impressed with this thought but I could care less about him and his judgy personality. It wasn't like I cared about his opinion about me, all I have to do is attend his class, study and leave when it's over.

"Before we start with our first chapter, 'The Role of Human Resources'; can anyone tell me what is Human Resource Management? Ms Happlings can you answer this?" Mr Hall questioned. But before that girl could answer the classroom door pulled open and in came Mark with the same girl he was with when we met him in the hallway, guess she's his flavour of the week. He hasn't changed one bit, he's the same notorious player Mark Kercher as he was in school.

"Oh, Mr Kercher is finally here and Ms Bottoms is tagging along with him. Thank you, sir, for showing up in my class; how should I serve you?" Mr Hall said sarcastically. Mark actually smirked at his sarcastic remark as if it was the coolest thing to do here. I swear his smirk is so damn annoying. In fact, his sole presence on earth is quite annoying.

"It's no biggie, Mr Hall you'll get many more chances to serve me but for now, I'd like to take my seat," Mark replied and start walking towards the back benches of the class with that bimbo tailing behind him. "How dare you talk to me like that? And who said you are allowed to enter and walk into my class like that." Mr Hall was fuming by this time, Mark was surely testing his nerves.

"We don't have to do this everytime, Professor. You know I'm above all these rules, my dad donates a huge sum to this college every year as funds. You seriously can't expect me to abide by all these stupid rules like an obedient kid." Mark continued walking to the benches at the back.

"The only reason I tolerate you in my class is because you are a straight A student and not because you are Mr Kercher's son. But this time you've crossed your limits. You are 15 minutes late for the class and instead of being sorry you are telling how your dad is one of the trustees of the college. Get out. Out of my class Mr Kercher right now. I'll make sure you are not seen in my class for atleast a week. " Mr Hall said angrily. "Ms Bottoms will you stay and have your seat or would you like to accompany him out of the class?" Mr Hall questioned that girl. She didn't care to respond to Mr Hall instead she happily walked out of the class with Mark. Typical bimbo.

I now understand why Mr Hall was being too judgy about me after knowing that I was one of the trustee's daughter as well. He must have thought I would be just like Mark. But I couldn't blame him, anyone would think like that, seeing how Mark behaves with all the teachers. But he can be rest assured, I am not like Mark, not one bit."I'd like to talk to the principal about your behaviour, Mr Kercher and Ms Bottoms I'll talk to your father about you." Mr Hall said dismissing them.

I am not surprised by his behaviour in the class with Mr Hall, not after what he did in the cafeteria today.
