Spoken Lies And Broken Ties

Mark stood there, as confident as a lion eyeing his prey. I was his prey this time, it was clearly visible from his eyes as he was eyeing me up and down.

"Mark" Kate said in a whisper, blinking her eyes continuously as if he would disappear the next moment she blinks.

"Hello to you too, Kate" he said slyly.

Jim reached forward and they greeted each other with a quick man hug. "Mark, man how are you long time no see. I didn't know you were in the same college." Jim said smiling slightly. He was happy seeing his friend after so long.

He had his eyes on me all the while talking to Jim but I avoided any eye contact with him. He is the last man I want to see. What is he doing here? Why can't he mind his own bloody business?

He was staring directly at me all the time when I was busy cussing him. But the moment our eyes met, he pursed his mouth in a self-satisfied smirk. Seeing his signature smirk again after so long, I suddenly had this sudden urge to knock that smirk off his face but I gained control over myself and turned around to get into the classroom. I get into the class and luckily the teacher wasn't there yet, I walked towards the empty seat at the back and sat down. Jim came in after me and sat beside me. A few moments later the teacher entered the class and we all greeted her. After the roll call, she started with the introduction of the subject along with the syllabus that we'll have to cover for this semester.

Everyone was listening to her intently but I had my mind somewhere else, to a certain someone all this while. Seeing him after so long brought back so many memories. It was like a whirlwind of memories.

Flashback

"Mark" I jumped on him and he caught me mid-air and twirled me around in delight. I can't believe I missed this guy so much during my family vacation to Spain. He went to Hawai with his family during vacations. This is how we usually greet each other after we miss each other and meet after some time. It might have been only two weeks but it felt like two years away from my best buddy. We are BFF's and pretty much inseparable. That makes everybody envy us and we enjoy every bit of it, after all, we are childhood friends and understand each other like nobody else.

"How is my girl doing this beautiful morning ?" Mark asked smiling widely at me that reached his eyes and they gleamed with happiness. He was as happy as I was after seeing him. This tells me, he missed me as much as I missed him if not more and I couldn't be happier.

"I am doing extremely great." I said with a big smile, which he returned almost immediately. "So how was your vacation?" I asked. "Great, it was absolutely great. We enjoyed a lot." Mark replied as we started walking towards our hideout where Mark, Jim, I and Kate usually spend our time when we don't want anybody to find us, so we can do whatever crazy thing we want to do which aren't allowed to do in front of everyone.

"How was your vacation? How is Hannah doing these days?" Mark asked looking directly at me. Hannah is my cousin, she is uncle Danny's daughter and is a year older than me but we are more like friends rather than sisters. She is the best cousin I have and we both are very fond of each other. I always admire her beautiful traits. She is so pretty that she has quite a bit of admirers, or more like secret admirers.

"Mine was great indeed and Hannah is doing just fine. You know she is coming back next month, her workshop will finish earlier than expected. She couldn't come back with us because she had to finish her final project. But she's coming soon." I said excitedly. We went to Spain to meet Hannah as she had gone on a workshop for three months. I was upset when she was leaving but immediately got happy when uncle said we will go to see her next month during the vacation. I missed her a lot. I am happy she's coming back soon.

"That's amazing. We all missed her a lot." Mark said in a tone I couldn't quite fathom but I let it go anyway. I was busy making plans for all the fun things we'll do at the hideout along with Kate and Jim.

Little did I knew Mark had some other plans for the future.

The whole day passed by like a blur while I was deep in thought all the while. Soon enough it was the sixth lecture, and I had it alone.

I walked towards the classroom for the sixth lecture and took my seat at the back of the classroom.
