Supernatural Investigation 101: Chronicles Of Nakashima Wakana

The atmosphere in the house is tense. 

Minami Sei is glaring at Choi Minho who wouldn't look at him. Sitting beside Minami Sei, Wakana is fidgeting, eyes darting between Choi Minho and Minami Sei. Natsumi squints her eyes on her sister's stalker and lastly, Sayuri is wrecking her brain on how to stop a war breakout. 

"I will read your fortune first," Oh Soo-Mi says to Minami Sei, breaking the tense silence.

"No need," Minami Sei tells her with a grave voice.

"A three-card spread is quick and…" She places the cards on the floor, slowly picking three cards from the spread. Wakana notices that the cards are completely black. It's different from the time when Oh Soo-Mi made readings for her.

"Ah…" Wakana blinks her eyes. "Oh-san, you can speak Japanese." 

"Minho taught me," Oh Soo-Mi replies quietly.

"But you made him translate Korean for me." She stares at Choi Minho who is leaning back against the wall with his eyes closed, looking peaceful. 

"I thought it would be fun." Oh Soo-Mi chuckles. "Minami-kun, your first card is a hermit. You have been living the life of a loner."

"I don't believe in these things." Minami-Sei sighs when Wakana gives him a look. "Without proof, I don't believe in tarot card readings."

"Whether you believe me or not, I can't stop myself from saying this." Oh Soo-Mi lets out a sigh and adds with a heavy voice, holding a second card between her fingers. "Your second card is the reversed moon. You are being emotionally swayed, trying to believe what you want to see and dismissing the truth that is hidden under the illusion of the moon. You must find clarity within yourself. Otherwise, you will be swept away."

Wakana turns her face toward Minami Sei. He's expressionless, watching Oh Soo-Mi with a quiet gaze. His eyes are red-brown -- the same colour that she has seen that day. Can eye colours change at a.d.u.l.thood? She has no idea. However, he feels like her Sei -- not someone else. 

"Your third card is" -- Oh Soo-Mi takes out one of the cards -- "Reversed lovers."

"That is good, right?" Wakana claps her hands, earning a glare from Minami Sei, slumping her shoulders as her enthusiasm fades and she fumbles with her fingers. How long is he going to be mad at her? 

"Only time will tell." Oh Soo-Mi glides her hands over the card before she pushes a single card out of the spread. "Nakashima Natsumi, with a justice card, you also have a role. If you observe objectively, you will be able to see more than people around you can. However, I sense a fork in your path. You might have to make a choice soon."

Nakashima Natsumi remains silent with her eyes fixed on Choi Minho.

"It's my turn." Sayuri leans forward with gleaming eyes. "Oh-san, what is my future?"

After a heavy silence, Oh Soo-Mi lifts a black card from the floor. 

"Am I going to be the top fashion designer in the country?" Sayuri rubs her hands, imagining the brand stores that she wants to start and the money that would come. "Or will I make it to the top of the world?"

"Nine of swords." Oh Soo-Mi tells her, "I sense vibrations of betrayal in your future. It could be a family member, a friend, or someone you are closely acquainted with."

Sayuri's jaws drop when she hears the words. Betrayal? But she's such a nice person. But in her line of work, she does have many people who are friendly to her on her face only. They go behind her back and try to sabotage her. Somehow, this reading is not surprising.

"I don't believe these future talks." Natsumi holds Sayuri's hands. "We are here to talk about Wakana. Why is she here and who are you, people?"

Oh Soo-Mi says nothing. She gathers the cards and places them in her sleeves, getting up and walking away from them. 

After the door is closed, Choi Minho opens his turquoise eyes and scrutinizes each person's face. "I will tell everything. I am Choi Minho. Wakana got her abilities because of my brother."

"Eh?" Sayuri blinks her eyes. "How is that possible?"

"Since you are her family, you deserve to know everything." Choi Minho iterates the entire tale -- Choi Minjae's awakening and his parents' murders, how Oh Soo-Mi lost her eyes, the Monarch and the new life experiments, transfer of Choi Minjae's abilities to Nakashima Wakana, how Wakana's body got healed, and what was Choi Minho's role. 

"Doesn't it mean that Monarch might come after Wakana if they find out that she is a successful experiment?" Sayuri frowns deeply. "Wakana is in danger."

"They haven't found out yet." Choi Minho smiles at Sayuri. "I will keep it that way."

Sayuri furrows her brows. This guy has been following her sister for seven years. Can they trust this stalker?

"Though we appreciate what you did for Wakana," Natsumi comments calmly, "it is a fact that my sister became like this because of your brother. You must find a way to fix her."

"Sister!" Wakana grabs Natsumi's arm. "I am fine. I don't dislike my abilities. I think that I can control them."

"I think the same." Minami Sei interjects, "It's better to be without these abilities that can cause insanity in her. We know what happened to Choi Minjae. At this rate, she might be a danger to people around her including her sisters and father. Then again, we can't remove the probability of Monarch finding out about her. What will happen then?"

Does he truly think that she's dangerous? Wakana probes into Minami Sei's body to feel his emotions --  suspicion, anxiety, fear, and a certain belief -- he's telling the truth. But then, she did hurt him. 

At that time, she was dangerous to him. 

She hides her hands inside her sleeves, shifting away from Sei and her sisters. It's better to be --

"Does she look dangerous to you now?" Choi Minho rebukes Sei. "Why don't you look at her before you say things like that?"
