Swallowing The Spider

[Before Transition] 

I've got a homicidal teenage girl still clawing to the top of the ceiling in my security room and so I quickly close the door and lock it before turning around and running back upstairs and into the security room but once inside I look up at the ceiling and she is no longer there and so I panic and start to rush around the entire floor searching every ceiling, every closet and even under the beds and furniture for her but I can't seem to find her and when I finally finish searching all the rooms on this floor I come to the conclusion that she isn't on this floor and so I rush back downstairs and begin to check all the rooms that I can one after the other trying to find this woman and identify the threat before it identifies me, and after having checked quite a few rooms downstairs I rush across the house to the kitchen which has given access to the other rooms in the house, but when I slide the door open, I spot Laura calmly sat at the kitchen table watching me like a hawk. 

For a moment I stay stood in the doorway with her sat at the kitchen table and we stare intensely into each other's eyes before I make a decision and step into the room closing the door behind me and then walking to the kitchen table and taking the seat opposite her and sitting down without taking my eyes off of her for a single second and similarly she didn't take her eyes off of me either and so we sat at the table staring at each other and while Laura looked calm, cool and collected I was tense and twitching at every slight movement she did ready to fight for my life and battle to the death with her knowing that I would have to give it my all to survive against her, we sit like that for quite a while before she moves and it's all I can do to stop my arm from reacting and flipping the table when she moves but all she does is place her hands flat down on the table and I imagine if she had weapons like guns she would be laying them on the table as well but since her weapons are actually in her hands and she can't use them without clenched fists this is her effectively laying her weapons on the table and making herself defenceless which we both know isn't true but it's the idea and principle that counts and so I minimally relax myself in response to her ceasefire and look at her questioningly. "Laura, why are you still here? Why haven't you left already, and more importantly what do you want?" 

"You were right, what you said. I being groomed as an ȧssassin and a killer and was killing anyone and everyone they told me to even going as far as killing my own mother when I didn't want to and I had to follow their orders and kill my own mother who thought I could be more than what those people wanted me to be which was just a tool, but when I managed to get away from those people the first thing that I did was start following the orders of the pimp that wanted to use me because I wanted to atone and make up for all of my wrongdoing, but you were right when you said I would in reality be working as a prȯstɨtutė for a pimp who would be making money off of my every action and then use that said money for other activities such as guns, drugs and any other illicit activities he was involved in and even using those earnings to help him force other girls into being his prȯstɨtutės and helping him to hurt countless other people with his actions. You were right, I was essentially acting as a tool and I had lost my last owner and user so I was just looking for another owner to use me again because I had never had such freedom and it was easier to just be a tool rather than face all of my wrongdoing and facing them properly, I was running away from my past, my actions, my mother and my individuality. That is not atonement and I was trying to go back to doing what I was used to doing and I was lying to myself when I said it was punishment and atonement when it was really just me going back into old habits, you were right when you said real atonement would be making up for the things I have done by doing good to make up for the bad and maybe even try to help out the families of the victims I killed and the people left in my wake instead of just lying to myself and deciding to falsely atone by helping another bad person. My mother wanted me to be more than what my creators created me to be and she wanted me to be more than that so that is what I am going to do, I'm going to be the person my mother wanted me to." She says getting it all out at once and barraging me with information basically regurgitating the truth I told her earlier but actually accepting it and realising and figuring out what she needs to do which is great and all, but why the hell is she telling me this? 

"Wow, that is great and all but why in the hell are you telling me this? You have had your major epiphany and breakthrough, so why are you still sat with me at this kitchen table when you could instead be out there getting to work on your redemption? I would recommend going to work with the X-Men, you would be helping your own kind and others like you plus you could be around people that understand you and what you are going through, I actually met a couple of the professors at Xavier's School for the Gifted which is where mutants go to school so maybe you can go there and try and have some semblance of a normal high school girl's life, as much as you can anyway. There is actually a guy there that is part of the X-Men that has similar abilities to you, maybe you could go meet him and he could teach you some stuff." I question why she is still here and still talking to me after she finally got some direction into what she wanted to do with her life but I figure instead of questioning that I could instead provide her with some options to take and some routes to go so that she could pick one quick and get the hell out of my house, I actually started mentioning Wolverine in the hopes that that would pique her interest and she would decide to go bug him as I am unsure is she knows who her biological donor was and if she hears there is a guy similar to her than maybe she would make some connections and go find him instead of continuing to bug me and quite frankly keep me on edge since having an unstable ȧssassin so close is frankly nerve-wracking. 

"I have already met my biological father Wolverine and the other X-Men at Charles Xavier's School for the Gifted, while I may go there again someday today is not that day. I have other pressing matters to deal with at the moment, matters you can help me with and in return for my services." She has apparently met with her father already had the other X-Me at that school and given the fact that she is here at my kitchen table and not locked up at that school I can only ȧssume that she kicked all of their ȧsses and skedaddled while they were confused before they could get their wits about them and actually fight her off properly, more importantly even though she apparently had some revelations about herself and had some new direction in life she still ended up offering herself to me again in return for something which she just said she wasn't going to do anymore so I am immensely confused by her and her contradictions. "Laura, I thought we just agreed that you wouldn't be offering yourself up as some sort of commodity to bad people anymore, that you wouldn't go back to being a tool and taking orders without question. I thought you were going to start making amends and start atoning, you aren't going to do that while working under me and frankly I don't need an ȧssassin on my payroll." 

"You are right, I said I wouldn't be working for bad people anymore and you are not a bad person so I see no problems with my current course of actions. Also, I think you are misunderstanding something. I am not going to be working for you, you are going to be working for me. Before I can start making amends and start atoning for my wrongdoings I first have to stop more people from getting hurt which means I have to get to the root of the problem and cut it off which is what you are going to be helping me with, while you were talking to that detective I took the opportunity to look around your home and collect information about you and in doing so I know you work at the Baxter Building with the Fantastic four as an intern so you must be intelligent enough for them to actually hire you which is why I need your help. I need to find all of the people involved in the Weapon 'X' Program and get rid of them and stop them from hurting more people like me and others who suffered because of them which is why I need you as you will be able to use your technologically minded brain to help me find and track them down, in the meantime I will be staying here and trying to correct my wrongdoings here in New York and for your help, I will be offering my abilities to you if you need them and my expertise to you as well and if you need anything from me during my duration here than I will be happy to aid you in any way I can." She says hitting me out of the blue and I guess she is right in what she stated (except for me not being a bad person) since she demanded me to help her instead of offering her own services and this time it was more of an equal trade (if you can call it that) rather than the one-sided agreements/slave contracts she was part of earlier, I don't like the fact that she just demanded my help and there are quite a few things I don't like about what she just said but I suppose along with theses downsides there are also a few upsides to this situation and overall not much is being asked of me. 

All I have to do is find out the locations of any Weapon 'X' facilities as well as the whereabouts and identities of the people involved with the program which shouldn't be too hard as I should be able to learn some stuff and whip up a computer program to constantly scan the internet for key things and words and I'm pretty sure that this organisation is part of the U.S Government and headed by Colonel William Striker so if I can just program it to focus on him and his activities and movement patterns and who he interacts with and there movement patterns and then integrating them all I should get some pretty solid information and I should at the very least be able to point Laura to the head honcho which is Colonel William Striker when I get bored of this arrangement so this will be easy for me, and in return for this I will have a fully trained fighter and ȧssassin willing to help me with all sorts and I am mainly focusing on her espionage capabilities which could help my research immensely plus with her being highly trained she should be able to teach me a few things which could help me in the long run. 

"Okay then, Laura. Where do you want me to start...?"
