Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 102 - Going North

Phew, that was a long night.

Aerion woke up late, on purpose. He got dressed and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair looked a bit out of order... but even on his worst day, Aerion was still supremely handsome and charming. But his eyes felt different for some reason he couldn't quite figure out. After activating his Sharingan, he realised why.

Two patterns!?

Eh... what does that mean, more power? I'll have to ask Izanami...

Aerion left his chambers shortly after. He left for his study room and found Viserys waiting patiently. He wasn't known for his patience but it would seem that Viserys can be patient if it is necessary. "Nephew, what is this matter you spoke of?"

"Hmmm, there's two things. Firstly, I want to match you with Arianne Martell."

"... This must be a jest, no?"

"No, not at all. What makes you think that, uncle?"

"On our visit, she displayed a great interest in you and did not spare a second glance for me. Would it not be better for you to marry her?"

"Hahahaha, uncle, I have enough wives as it is! While you, you don't have a single wife... how do you plan to have an heir? I'm not only doing this for House Targaryen, but I'm also doing this for you. She has both beauty and great status... what more could you want in a woman, uncle?"

Viserys nodded dutifully. "I understand... what is the other matter?"

"I've decided to rebuild Summerhall. After I deal with the matter up north, I will set my eyes on Essos. After a bit of plundering... we should have more than enough gold. I will leave the entire construction process to you, of course, I will visit once in a while to see if things are going smoothly."

"Hmm, at last. But what is this matter up north?"

Aerion shrugged. "Some ice king and his huge army, I'll send them all packing the moment they get close to Winterfell. At most, it's a minor inconvenience which will lead to greater relations with House Stark and the North."

"Interesting... I would like to see this 'ice king', would that be possible?"

"Of course. I might even consider keeping him alive... if he turns out to be something extraordinary."

Once he finished talking with Viserys, he asked for the appearance of Lord Paramount Eddard Stark before the Iron Throne. The relations between House Targaryen and House Stark were... not the best and that's putting it lightly. Aerion's grandfather, Aerys the Mad, had burned his Ned's father and made his elder brother, Brandon, watch. Brandon ended up strangling himself in his attempts of saving his father due to the torture device he was trapped to. The reason why all this happened was Rhaegar's 'abduction' of Lyanna Stark. Rickard and Brandon Stark simply wanted to take her back. Clearly, House Targaryen was in the wrong and the matter made Aerion want to smash his head against a table every time he thought about it.

Whatever happened, it was in the past. Eddard was an honourable man who had no thirst for revenge, unlike Robert Baratheon, and Aerion was no fool. This meant that mending the broken relationship was far from impossible.

"Warden of the North, the upcoming winter is something that the North by its own cannot handle. It's not the cold that is concerning... there is something far more frightening, I believe?"

"Yes, your Grace. It's the Others...."

Aerion smiled. "No need to worry about that. This King will personally handle everything... all I ask for is the hospitality of the North."

"These are your lands, Your Grace... you need not ask for such things."

Aerion laughed. "You are right about that."

He stood up and walked down the Iron Throne. "Stand, Warden of the North. We shall vanquish this threat like it never existed."

"Will you be riding with us, Your Grace?"

"Yes, but I shall be in the skies."

Eddard nodded. "That is good... the North has nothing to fear, after all."

With Aerion guarding the North, even the threat of the Others seemed minuscule. Because that man, on his own, could kill thousands at the blink of an eye.

Aerion then searched for Izanami. It turns out that she was at one of the gardens, which Aerion found rather surprising. Once she realized that Aerion was there, she approached him. Aerion was going to speak but she took his tongue away with a lightning-fast kiss. Aerion backed away after a few long seconds.

"How was that for a surprise, hmm?"

"It was a pleasant one." Aerion smiled. "But do you know..."

"The Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan."

"Eh, did the same thing happen to you?"

"Mhm. Father always told me that I would either have to take the Mangekyou Sharingan of a loved one or dual-cultivate with someone who has the eyes of Izanagi."

Izanagi... Izanami, was it the old man's plan to pair up the two? Hmm... that man is truly mysterious to the extreme.

"I see... but what's the difference between the two?"

"Usually, it just means that you can't get blind from overusing your eyes and you experience less strain when using abilities like the Susanoo. But in your case... hmm, you will have to find out on your own."

"Thank you, Izanami."

Looks like I will have to experiment a little.

"Littlefinger."

"Yes, Your Grace?"

"Become my loyal servant!"

Aerion noticed that not a single drop of blood left his eyes. The effects on his profound energy were not even noticeable. Littlefinger was quite a capable person yet his intentions were... unknown. Aerion speculated that he had intentions of taking the Iron Throne so he wasn't kind to him. But now, there was no need for his talents to be wasted.

"Anything you need, Your Grace?" Littlefinger asked.

"Act as if nothing happened but never commit or even think of an act that will negatively affect me."

"I understand, Your Grace."

Just in case you're not acting... "Jump through the window."

Littlefinger ran and jumped through the window. It was an amusing sight... Aerion stopped his fall with his wind energy and returned him to the Red Keep. He tried to jump through the window again but Aerion commanded against it. Now that his loyalty was assured, Aerion smirked.

You can make a good Master of Coin now, Littlefinger.

After a busy day of being the King, Aerion naturally wanted to take a nap. Since he was in the Divine Origin Realm his need for sleep had greatly diminished... in fact, it wasn't even necessary. He could stay up all day and night for months. But he found it calming and it gave him an opportunity to visit the Dungeon. For now, all he could do was collect gold and profound cores which would help him prepare for the next floor. Right now, the best course of action would be for him to enter the Realm of Gods but his attachments prevented him from doing so. He wanted to spend some time with his wives and stabilize everything he had built. One could consider this his 'resting period'.

Aerion opened his eyes and saw Daenerys resting her head against his c.h.e.s.t. This was completely unexpected. She looked at peace as if there was no safer place in the world. Aerion softly stroked her beautiful, long, silver-gold hair. He had always seen her as his little sister, someone he promised to protect... she and Viserys were the main reason as to why he had broken through his shell and became the Pirate King.

Aerion sighed, how could he leave her? She had pretty much trapped him in place... so he gave in and rested some more. After some time, she stood up and Aerion opened his eyes instantly after. Daenerys almost jumped from shock, she didn't expect that he would wake so suddenly.

"Did I scare you? Hahaha, forgive me."

"You could have woken up more slowly..."

"I could have but that's beside the point, actually... I wanted to tell you something."

"What could it be?"

"Since you're my wife... naturally, your title is Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. There will be times where I won't be able to sit on the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms. Of course, I have a Hand and a capable Small Council who can rule for me... but I would like you to rule in my stead during such times."

"You want me to... rule the Seven Kingdoms?"

"Precisely, but not quite yet. You'll have to learn under me first... the question is, are you willing to?"

Daenerys nodded. "Certainly."

"That settles it then. In a month, I'll be going North and that will be the first time you will be able to do so."

With my Small Council, it shouldn't be too hard.

~

"We're ready to ride North, Your Grace."

Aerion nodded and summoned Rhaegal. "I'll be going ahead."

Atop his crimson dragon, Aerion flew into the distant skies. Rhaegal seemed a bit different to him... he was larger, his profound strength was much higher but there was something that was far more shocking than that. He grew arms! Valyrian dragons never had arms... they only had two legs and two wings! This... Rhaegal had evolved!

Aerion couldn't help but smile proudly.

This is my dragon... who in this world's entire history has a dragon that is even comparable to mine? Born from my fire and blood... of course, he can only be superior to the rest!

If the ice king doesn't come for me in two months, I'll certainly make sure to come for him.
