Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 183 - Reflection

After opening his eyes, Aerion stood up and released his divine aura. Everyone gathered before him.

"So, you finally broke through." Robb smiled. "You were the last to do so among us avatars despite having several dual-cultivation partners."

"These slower breakthroughs provide greater power in the end." Aerion countered before turning his eyes away from Robb. "The time has come. After cultivating for over a hundred years, the gates to the Divine Palace of the Transcendent Being can finally be opened. I have a feeling that this won't be a short or easy visit so all of you are advised to prepare for the worst."

"The worst result would be death," Izanami stated. "Confronting the Transcendent Being now could only result in defeat..."

"Unfortunately, reaching the Ancestral God Realm is impossible even if we spend millions of years in the Seventh Heaven Realm. This is the only way forward... however, I don't intend to face Him in my current state. We will use the Divine Palace to grow even stronger and reach the absolute pinnacle. Then we will confront him."

Qianye Ying'er nodded. "From what we know, He would wish to face us at our best. More importantly, instead of worrying about the consequences, we should think of a strategy to defeat him."

"That would be wise." Mu Xuanyin agreed.

"But the Transcendent Being is all-powerful. He can erase all of us with a single thought... right?" He Lin replied.

"He wouldn't do that." Aerion shook his head. "But it is true that his power far surpasses the Ancestral God Realm. Defeating him should be impossible unless one of us reaches the Transcendent God Realm or... we reject his divine authority and strike him with one blow made out of our combined divine powers. However, I'm unsure if Izanagi is capable of such a thing."

"Man, this Transcendent Being fellow sure is troublesome." Daeron sighed. "Royal Father, you should consider absorbing his power over time when we do fight him. Perhaps combine our divine power with your new power and... boom, he's no more."

"I doubt he would stand still and let me absorb his power."

"Then we will trap him so that he won't be able to move," Izanami stated. "Our combined eyes will be capable of such a thing, my dear."

Aerion stroked his non-existent beard. "That is a good start towards the ultimate goal of defeating Him. We will improve and add onto this strategy as our strength grows. For now, we will prepare for the Divine Palace."

"For how long can we prepare?" Robb inquired.

"As long as you need." Aerion smiled. "Though, I'd rather it not be too long."

"I see."

The seven avatars left the Seventh Heaven Realm, returning to Primal Chaos. Aerion cut through space and teleported to Westeros. Summerhall was rebuilt in its original location and Viserys the Architect had been responsible for its construction. Now it was reborn, grander and more beautiful than before.

It swiftly became Aerion's second favourite resting place. The hill of Bloodstone remained undefeated when it came to calming his mind. However, Summerhall was a close second due to its wonderful water gardens.

"The Emperor's water garden has been untouched by all except for your wives, Your Grace."

Aerion proceeded onwards, opening the doors to paradise. "I expect no less from my Dragonsguard."

"We live to serve." The Dragonsguard bowed.

Aerion looked at the wide selection of pools before settling with the chilliest one of them all. He took off his clothing and dropped in. The chilling waters were quite refreshing compared to the calm ones of the Seventh Heaven Realm. After relaxing for a few hours, he opened his eyes and obtained a greater sense of clarity.

"Would you have any regrets if you were to die in the Divine Palace?" Rotias inquired. "Your deeper thoughts have become quite difficult to read, hmph, it's all a clouded mess."

'Rotias... I am an ambitious man who has accomplished all there is to accomplish except for the fall of the Transcendent Being. I would not feel regretful as long as I fought well and made the Transcendent Being bleed. Of course, I would rather defeat him but then I'm afraid of something far deeper than that.'

"Oh?"

Aerion sighed. 'What comes after I defeat him? I stand at the Transcendent God Realm, live forever and do as I wish. But... what will be my purpose? My children will continue the Targaryen Dynasty while I simply observe the world. Eventually, I'll sink into the state of a bored God and play with lives just as He does... the cycle will spin once more as I will d.e.s.i.r.e someone who can threaten me.'

'Fate... why is it so cruel?'

"Hmph, you will not sink so low as long as you stand beside your companions and not above them. Establish a new pantheon of Gods made out of those closest to you and reign over the dimensions forever. Then, if you are bored, descend into the mortal worlds once in a while. Indeed, you will become akin to the Transcendent Being but a far greater person in comparison. For example, if you were Him from the start, the Fall would not have happened."

"Embrace fate, do not dread it." Rotias countered. "You will still have a purpose even after your ambitions are complete."

Aerion nodded. 'You are correct, I suppose. In truth... I have been gloomy ever since my fiftieth nameday."

"It's understandable. You are a warrior King placed into an eternal era of peace where no one even thinks of raising their banner against you."

Aerion managed a laugh as he brought out some wine. 'Now I know how Robert felt as King after the little Iron Islands were put in place.'

"Regain your fire in the boiling pool, Aerion," Rotias suggested. "If the Emperor himself is depressed, then how can he expect his subjects to find the will to fight?"

'I am not depressed, Rotias.' Aerion countered.

"What does gloomy mean, little dragon?"

'I wouldn't say I was depressed... just a bit downcast. I can't be cheery all the time, unfortunately.'

Rotias laughed. "No one is perfect."

Aerion switched to the hottest pool and the heat did incite his fury towards the Transcendent Being as he thought of his many acts.

'So many instances where I could have died... but I survived each one and grew even stronger. Maybe...'

"No, Aerion. He wanted to get rid off you on countless occasions without directly doing so himself. The fact that you survived each time was not because he intended so...no, it was because you willed yourself forwards." Rotias stated.

Aerion smiled as he closed his eyes once more, attaining greater clarity. 'There is some truth in that.'

He finally came to a conclusion after a few moments of reflection. His violet eyes glowed intensely as if it were a pile of embers being lit into an inferno.

'Hmph, it matters not what his intentions were. Whether he wished for me to grow or not, the result will be the same. I made a promise long ago... and I intend to keep it. Blackfyre will taste his blood and Aerios' last wish will be fulfilled as I will use everything at my disposal to overthrow Him.'

"Good," Rotias replied with great approval. "I thought Primal Chaos had lost the Dragon to these peaceful times... but he was only in a long slumber, awaiting the right time to awaken."

'Indeed, Rotias.'

"When I think about it... you resemble an interesting mixture of a Dornishman and High Valyrian. The Dornish blood emerges in battle and the bedchambers while the High Valyrian side rules over the Realm."

'Oh?' Aerion smiled. 'An intriguing remark, Rotias. It seems that I am quite the Dornishman on the inside... not the worst thing. After all, Dornishmen know how to enjoy themselves."

"Oh, the Dragon Emperor is resting on his own?" Izanami opened the doors.

"Speaking of enjoying yourself..." Rotias laughed. "Awaken me when you enter the Divine Palace as what you do until then is not of any interest to this God."

'I'll do that.'

"I am reflecting on a few things before entering the Divine Palace, Izanami..."

"I knew that you would either be on that hill of yours or this water garden."

"Then you could have come sooner." Aerion replied.

"I wanted you to have some time for yourself. You carry such a heavy weight on your shoulders... naturally, you would wish to ease your mind once in a while, without any interruptions."

"You understand me well."

"When haven't I?" Izanami smiled and joined him in the pool after undressing. She rested her head on his shoulders. "I am your first love, after all."

"Before that, I had no place for any kind of romance... the only thing on my mind was conquest and taking what was rightfully mine. That has certainly changed with time, hahaha."

"Now you have thirteen wives." Izanami placed her index finger on his c.h.e.s.t. "But, in truth, I am the one you find most pleasant. Isn't that right?"

Aerion chuckled. "It's an interesting battle between you and Myrcella."

"Oh, her? I still wonder what her grandfather would think of your marriage."

"If I showed mercy, he would have no complaints. A calculating person like him would find it suitable for the future of House Lannister... in fact, he would be the first one to present the arrangement to me and I would be the one to reject it until further notice."

"Hmm, I see."

"Speaking of fathers, I haven't met with your father in quite some time," Aerion stated.

'She doesn't the truth know yet...'

"I've already forgotten about him. Hmph, but I still should thank him for leading me to you."

"I see... well, do you know who he is?"

"A strange question to ask but I'll answer. From what I know, he is a traveller capable of crossing worlds. His Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan makes this quite effortless and his cultivation strength is certainly above the Divine Origin Realm." Izanami sighed. "However, I've never met my mother and I don't think I ever will..."

Aerion embraced her with his right arm as he felt conflicted on whether or not he should tell the truth. "Izanami..."

"Hmm? Speak your mind, my dear."

Aerion didn't think the time was right so he stopped himself.

"If your father doesn't care about you, then it would be best not to know how your mother is doing."

"Not all fathers see their children as invaluable jades, Aerion. Some value their partners far more and ignore the children for the most part."

Aerion nodded. "I suppose you are right."

"Nevermind all of this sorrowful talk... l want you."

"Oh, you thought of having our husband to yourself?" Qianye Ying'er entered the water garden.

"Hmph, the Golden Goddess herself speaking of selfishness." Izanami countered.

"I am willing to see you as an equal. We, along with Xuanyin, are avatars of Ancestral Goddesses, after all. The rest... hmph, they are unworthy."

"Whatever you say." Izanami disregarded her. "I hate sharing with you."

"Oh, you will have to share this time... unless my Emperor wishes me to leave, of course."

"Ignore her." Izanami kissed Aerion.

"Hmph." Qianye Ying'er joined in from the left side. "As I said, you will have to share."

"You are so impatient." Izanami sighed. "Now Aerion has no choice."

"Indeed." Qianye Ying'er nodded.

"I don't mind... but this isn't the best place."

"I'm tired of the bed in the Seventh Heaven Realm... this is a little bit more exciting, don't you believe so?" Izanami inquired.

"I suppose it's something different." Aerion smiled as the waters fuelled his vast and divine Yang Energy.
