THE BLACKLIGHT

A loud noise of television penetrated when Akagi opened his house's door.

"Where's mom?" Akagi directly asked Akiho who sitting on the couch watching TV, eating potato ch.i.p.s.

He took a chip "I don't know, must be shopping" Akiho responded then he putted on the mouth.

Akagi washed his hand and sits near Akiho on the couch.

"Something bothering you, Akagi" Akiho asked after he glanced Akagi's dreaded face.

"None of your business" Akagi nonchalantly said, avoiding eye contact.

Few minutes after Akagi suddenly questioned Akiho "Do you recalled anything about mom's reaction when I got admitted in the hospital. Anything you can remember mother saying to you or someone talking she about me?"

After hearing Akagi's strange question Akiho humming staring at the ceiling "That's five or six years ago, no I don't know anything odd, you got admitted to a hospital, everyone got admitted once in a while".

Akagi clicked his tongue "I wondered nothing came out of your thick brain" Akagi chided him "What's all that humming for?"

"Huh!" flinched Akiho, "What's that damn important? You wouldn't say anything before".

Before Akagi says anything, Akiho's phone call interrupted them.

Akiho talked to the phone for a while, seemly his friend is talking over the phone.

After Akiho finished his call, he about to leave "I'll go to hang out with my friends, you can stay home waiting for mom to come back, then you question her".

Akiho went out of the house, Akagi sat down on couch, waiting for his mother.

Not long after, Amiya came back from shopping,

When she opens the door, she saw Akagi already present here,

Amiya smiles and casually said "Oh! When do you get back? You hungry, Akagi?"

Akagi got up "Mom, we need to talk" he directly said,

Amiya put the shopping bag on the Kitchen "Oh, talk about what?"

"My father! I need to exactly what happened to my father", Akagi questioned,

Hearing that Amiya chuckles "You already know the truth, he died when you were 3" she about to prepare daily cooking.

Akagi mildly surprised, went closer and intentionally questions "And my cancer, which I born with... And it will killed me when I reach middle-age".

Hearing those words from Akagi's, her cheerful face and attitude are completely gone into silence,

"You knew?" She confirming,

Akagi nods "Why did you say anything? I got that I was too young to understand all of this but I need to know why you decided not to tell me despite I was going to die eventually".

Amiya stayed silent for a bit then she gets out of kitchen, sat on the dining table with a bottle of whisky, went under the extremely thoughts.

"I met You're father in a pub, I was in defence force, so I was loud and rowdy, when I busy partying, I notice a lonely man just sitting on bar, drinking" she pours the whisky on the glass "In curiosity I approach him, I wasn't interested to be his friend or wanted anything but then again the he talks about the world around him really amazed me, I naturally attracted to him and started talked very interesting.

Amiya takes a sip from the glass "We came to the pub over a month, and then we started dating and got married within a year. It's natural in order to fall in love, my life was good and going perfectly as I living in the dream,

When you diagnosed with the cancer, it was broken me, right before the right he proposed for marriage, I told him earlier that I was in military, and I couldn't be good wife to you".

"But he didn't care, seeing his love and compassion, I was flattered, and it caused me a loss, I accepted my fate but Akashi didn't gave up".

She glared at Akagi "You're father was insane, he was going to inject a dangerous chemical to your baby like body".

She anxiously continues "It's no way I was going to agree, you were my first born, that cancer was curable, I decided to treat you medically and I succeed, you remembered don't you when you were high school".

"You don't know that!" protested Akagi, "You just waiting for me to die you couldn't let father do what's to be done.

Amiya strongly shakes her head in disagreement "No, I wasn't..."

But Akagi still retorted "Instead you kept quiet, not telling me anything, just working day and night, hoping a miracle is going happened in 8% success rate, how you can you so single minded and illogical, treatment is not a cure, you should try to listen to him"

"You're father's decision THAT COST ME EVERYTHING!" rebuked Amiya, Akagi was shocked to see her sudden reaction, "That Blacklight virus that your father stolen was government property, not long after Akashi was left us, Blackwatch came knocking on the door, they suspected that I had knowledge with his plan".

"I said to them, I didn't know anything, they were didn't do anything but days after they arrested me for treason, they took me into their base sets charges, no proof, no evidence, no trial just they send me to prison, since I was with the government military and I am a mother with two kids. They gave me a month for settling you and your brother, Blackwatch didn't take any responsibility for my kids, and I have to find my own way".

"That time I knew no one here to take the responsibility for my kids, I had no one, there is many people wanted to adopt but not for temporary. I didn't have any friends and relatives, Unfortunately, I stumbled upon only Foster care whose willing to adopt you for few years but I had to pay a personal price".

"What...What..." Akagi whimpers, "What personal price you talking about".

Amiya clenching the tablecloth in hesitation, a tear store in her eyes but she didn't cry, holding it as she could. "The foster family, the place which you and your brother lived during my prison time, the man appeared rich many nurses for serving the children. I thought it's the best and only to live here. Your Foster father knew that I was helpless, in one condition he will allow to stay, he taken the advantage of my helplessness"

"What condition? What not you wanting me to know" Akagi insisted", I'm grown now, I have a right to know!"

Amiya calms down and briefly said "A night!" she mourn in regrets "The only way he accepted the temporary adoption only if I could joined him with his bed for the night". She falls her head on the table bursting out crying.

Just hearing those words Akagi whole life turned upside down, his childhood memories that he believed was a lie, he discovered a dark truth which living inside his family's memories for decade, just waiting for Akagi to discover.

Akagi knee down in despair, he bitterly wondered "My life is a big fat lie, all my sad past all I could hope was based on a lie, I understand the horror that she was carrying, refusing, suffocating, forcing herself to believe what she did was right and I was dying fool hoping that I could a better future".

He got back up "That man whom you slept with, he thrown us in a can, rejecting us completely, we had to do everything!"

Amiya lifted her in shock but she couldn't say anything,

"What my father did was right, he was trying to save my life, but you couldn't accepted that he was right, you think that Mutants are monster, did Mutants forced you to have s.e.x with them?" Every time Akagi scolding her his voice becomes louder and turning into growling "Answer me! Did Mutants send you to prison away from us, no they did not, I spend 6 years in Foster care, I have to study, going to school, doing all my work all my own. Akiho didn't remember because I was there with him, taking care of him.

And you foolishly believed that I was cured with your EXERTION!".

After so much scolding, he tired up and begun panting, seeing his mother has no answer, Akagi becomes angry "I shouldn't believe that you had no answers, fine then you think you can handle all the things by yourself, then you don't want me here" after finishing his conversation Akagi runs withdrawing from his house...
