The Burning Fiend

Even if there was not much golden mist within the crystal orbs, the four women took nearly half a year to absorb it as they complied with Reynolds's instructions, they could feel how their souls had grown and that the speed in which they could visualize while pondering the laws and their application has increased slightly making them extremely happy.

For Reynolds it took a whole year for both souls within his saint body and his death avatar to recover to their original size and power, now his death avatar focussed in gaining insights on controlling souls trying to increase his understanding of the 'slave seeds' while his saint body concentrated fully on the aspect of illusion of the edict of life.

The progress of his fire avatar was unimpeded but he had not managed to find any intersection for the three laws he practiced, frustrated he started comparing the 'Flame Body' with 'Heat' and after almost three years he managed to find a point of fusion for two laws making him smile with happiness. He might not be able to find an intersection for the three laws while being a Demigod, but after fusing the three different laws on the three possible pairs he was sure that finding that intersection point would not be impossible, he just have no idea how long that might take.

One morning his saint body was resting in bed while Rosarie and Koral were laying n.a.k.e.d next to him resting their heads on his c.h.e.s.t, he was smiling thinking of how much he liked his life, but his thoughts were disturbed as a pulse of divine power fluctuated on the whole Yulan Plane and he recognized it as fire divine power gathering an enormous wave of fire elements making him startled and soon his fire avatar was speeding towards the South Sea, Koral wanted to follow filled with curiosity but Reynolds did not allow it.

After a couple of hours his divine avatar finally reached a point near the origin of the frightening elemental fluctuations and was able to see a man wearing a dark red robe floating over the boiling ocean as magma started to flow out of the water, Reynolds froze floating in the distance while observing how the man used the Elemental Laws of Fire with a high degree of mastery and wondered what was he trying to do but soon he forgot about everything and only remained there observing, learning, gaining enlightenment... some times he was frowning and others he smiled with understanding.

The red robed man had noticed Reynolds a long time ago but ignored him as he was not disturbing his purpose but after a while he felt curiosity as he found that he was understanding the laws as he was using them so he smiled and even started to slow his moves slightly with amus.e.m.e.nt and his smile grew as Reynolds eyes shined with understanding every now and then, he send a mental message to two Gods that were observing a few kilometers away and soon both of them were flanking Reynolds, who was lost in his own world, while looking curiously at him.

"What is it with Third Brother and his teacher complex? How is it that we ended as bodyguards again?" A bald man sent the mental message to his companion with amus.e.m.e.nt while pretending to be aggrieved. "Big Brother, don't think too much... or you will grow jealous at these talented little fellows that seem to grow out of not where, I still remember that kid who smiled while training and I cannot help but feel angry!" A man wearing a white robe responded mentally to the bald man while snorting.

It took a few hours for the lava to transform into rocks before a golden robed man appeared next to the red robed man, both of them were identical... two different Highgod avatars of the same person, soon earth elemental essence started to flow into the newly created continent to cover the rock. He was no longer using the laws of fire, but the Reynold's fire avatar was still lost in pondering what he had witnessed.

He recognized at least four different laws fused together 'Fire Elemental Essence', 'Explosion', 'Heat' and 'Mirage', while observing his understanding of 'Heat' and 'Fire Elemental Essence' was growing while his saint body back at the island entered the training room and was gaining insights of 'Explosion' and 'Mirage'. He had not gained entry to either of this two laws but witnessing that man creating a new continent had helped him to gain insights that perhaps, after pondering for a few decades, might turn into understanding and gaining entry to these two laws.

While his fire avatar and his saint body were lost in contemplation, his death avatar was startled as he felt the aura of what he imagined to be two Highgods fighting near Lord Beirut's metal castle and curiosity gain over him as he made his was while carrying the scythe that the Great Warlock had used before, the scythe had turned now into a spear as one could use divine power to alter the form and size of an artifact. Beside curiosity, he knew that his current easy life was in great part possible due to Beirut allowing him to live within the Forest of Darkness and he needed to know what was happening to be able to respond in order to protect his family... even if he ended losing his death avatar.

He did not use his divine sense to probe ahead as he did not want to create trouble for himself, not long after he found two Gods talking over the corpse of another God, he recognized one as Ojwin the one who had tried to kill Linley, and he watched with curiosity as they both attacked each other at the same time. Ojwin started to laugh as a maniac as Linley suddenly attacked in ambush with each hand holding a sword and clashed with Ojwin in an impressive feat considering that he was a Demigod managing to create trouble for a God, Ojwin screamed in pain while Linley was repulsed back with blood flowing from his mouth.

(A/N – This time Linley failed to kill Ojwin because 'Deus ex Machina', he had just touched the point of fusion between the 'Throbbing Pulse of the World' and the 'Earth Elemental Essence'. Remember to think of this as a parallel universe to comply to the shameless needs of the author.)

But his ambush failed to kill Ojwin who seemed in extreme pain while no wounds were visible. 'A soul attack, but Third Brother failed'. He saw as Linley's was being supressed by an enraged Ojwin as they both neared where he was hiding, he smiled mischievously and he appeared behind Ojwin while his spear was covered with grey mist forcing Ojwin to block with his sword repulsing Reynolds and his spear but allowing the grey mist to enter his body causing him to scream in agony as both of his hands held to his head while letting go of his weapon, his soul was already damaged by Linley's attack and Reynolds's soul erosion turned him into a mindless beast.

Linley was stupefied for a moment and realized that the new arrival was his Fourth Brother and without wasting more time he used his Bloodviolet sword to pierce the head of Ojwin killing him. Reynolds was bleeding as well and his entire arm was destroyed by the exchange of blows, but smiled in victory as Linley managed to give the killing blow to Ojwin.

"Well my idiot Third Brother... what were you thinking by trying to kill a God? I almost lost my death avatar in a moment of stupidity that I'm sure will not happen again". Reynolds said while chuckling to a smiling Linley. "This one was responsible for the death of Wharton's grandson, I just couldn't help but take the shot, but I overestimated my power... I have killed two Fullgods in the past few years but I think that those had fused with divine sparks and Ojwin was much stronger... Thanks for the help." They both were healing their injuries with divine power while Linley said. "Should we divide the spoils?" Linley was smiling as if already imagining what would he found on the interspatial ring.

Reynolds chuckled while looking at the spear on the floor, he knew that it was a powerful artifact... much stronger that anything he had. "Well it was you who killed him, if you don't mind I think I could really use that spear, it seems... powerful".

Linley looked at the spear and said. "Well it is a Highgod artifact its power should be similar to my Bloodviolet sword. Go ahead and take it... are you sure you don't want anything else?" Reynolds was already bounding the spear and sighed with happiness as it was a powerful artifact but also was filled with disappointment as he could not even identify the laws or edicts used to nurture it to the Highgod artifact level.

"I'm fine with this... I think that my gains today are already beyond my expectations. The attack you used before... did you managed to create an earth divine avatar?" He was curious and a little jealous of his progress. "Yes a couple of years ago... this is a death avatar?" Linley was equally shocked as Reynolds was not left behind in progress.

(A/N – At this time Linley is stronger that Reynolds due to him mastering the 'Throbbing Pulse of the World', which is a middle level law which its power would be comparable to the completely fused 'Fire Elemental Essence' and 'Flame Body', and due to his body being baptised by the blood of his ancestor contained on his ring helping him reach the strength of a Demigod on pure flesh while in dragonblood form.)

Reynolds left Linley and went back to his island not willing to leave the girls alone for too long even if Koral and Rosarie were already Demigods.

Floating over the South Sea Reynolds's fire avatar finally regained consciousness and was startled when he found out that he was flanked by two Gods smiling at him with slightly annoyed expressions. "Ohh... look at that, the kid finally woke up". The bald man smirked while the white robed one responded. "Stop with teasing him, kid Third Brother wants to speak to you but he is busy building a continent. Go back for now and return in a couple of months, would you?"

Reynolds felt cold sweat on his back but soon took a deep breath as he realized that he was not in trouble and smiled. "Well I should, thank you". He left calmly toward the Forest of Darkness still thinking on what he had witnessed. 'Using divine power to built a continent... at least four fused laws... one day I would reach that level'. He smiled with confidence as he increased his speed.

Koral was waiting impatiently as she had also felt the 'Fire Elemental Essence' and was annoyed that she was not allowed to go, she kept muttering while her hand rested on her h.i.p.s. "Bad Master... having all the fun for himself". Reynolds chuckled as he heard her and embraced her with one hand while petting her head with the other. "Now, now... don't be angry I will tell you all about it, ok?"
