The CEO's Rented Wife

Chapter 79 - Jealous?

Wang held Lina gently by her arm and back so as to support her, as both of them slowly walked towards Wang's car. "It is definitely not a bone fracture," observed Wang. "Else, you would not be able to put any weight on your foot. I think the pain would go away in a day or two," he continued.

"I hope for the same," smiled Lina as she held Wang's hand tightly so as to avoid falling down. "Thank you for caring for me so much, Mr. Wang," she blushed.

Aunt Ning stood at her place as she watched Wang and Lina walk towards the car. She giggled with joy. Her plan was going smoothly till now.

Robin, Wang's driver, opened the car's door for the CEO.

Wang gestured him to help Lina. "Don't worry, Robin. I'll help myself. Would you please open the door for Lina and help her settle down in her seat?" said Wang.

While Wang sat in the back seat, Lina sat in the seat besides the driver's seat.

As Robin drove the car, Wang spoke with an expression of mischief on his face. "Robin, do you know what Lina did today?" he asked in a voice loud enough so as to be perfectly audible to Lina. "Do you know what she did at the shooting set?" he continued.

"Ahmm! No, Sir. Unfortunately, I didn't get the time to watch the shoot. I could not visit the set," smiled Robin. Having worked with Wang for a long time now, he was able to judge when his boss was angry or in a light mood. And he could tell that Wang was in a fun mood today. He wanted to play some mind games with Lina.

"I will tell you what Lina did today," Wang laughed a little, but made sure that his laughter could not be noticed by Lina. "She pushed Hollywood's most famous actress, Miss. Sparklet Johnson, down into the muddy water. Miss. Johnson was in a mess from all the sand that had gone into her hair and clothes," commented Wang. "I think.. Lina does not like that actress," chuckled Wang but made sure that it was being noticed only by Robin, and not by Lina.

"What?" Lina reacted immediately, just as Wang had planned. "Mr. Wang, I did not push her. It was an accident. I was trying to remove the sandals from her feet.. but they were not coming out. I had to pull a little.. and the rock, that Miss. Johnson was sitting on, was slippery. Miss. Johnson lost her balance and she slipped down from it," explained Lina.

Wang and Robin smiled as they watched Lina's innocent face as she explained the situation. Both of them could not help but giggle.

Wang wanted to continue with the fun. "Are you trying to say that our brand's sandals do not fit well? Are you putting the entire blame of the accident on the company's brands?" Wang continued with his mind games.

"No! No! I would never do that. Everyone knows that our company makes the best quality products. Maybe, the sand inside the sandals' strap caused the problem," answered Lina with a sad face. She got no reply from Wang and decided to continue to prove her innocence. "Robin, do you think I'm like that? Would I do something like this.. intentionally? I am not that kind of person," sighed Lina.

"I thought the same too!" Wang passed an immediate comment as he controlled his laughter.

Robin decided to be a part of this little game of his boss. "Mr. Wang, my experience says that even if two women know each other from just a few minutes, they would start feeling jealous of each other," giggled Robin as he drove the car.

"JEALOUS!! Why would I get jealous?" yelled out Lina.

Wang could not control his laughter any more. Lina's sudden reactions were a mixture of cuteness and innocence, something that any man would fall for.

"I am not like that! Why would I feel jealous of other women?" Lina spoke out in a loud voice with her eyes wide open.

"Hmm.. So, Lina is not like that!" Wang repeated Lina's words. "Robin, do you think we should agree to what Lina says?" smiled Wang.

"Sir, you are the boss. It is upto you to decide if we should accept her explanations or not," chuckled Robin.

"Hmm.. Let me think," smiled Robin as he waited for a few seconds before he spoke out again. "For the time being, we will accept that it was an accident.. and that Miss. Lina is not jealous of other women," giggled Wang.

Lina heaved a sigh of relief. She assumed that it would not be wise to take a leave for rest of the day, as Mr. Wang was already unhappy with her performance. "Ahmm! Mr. Wang, my foot is perfectly fine now. I wish to go to the workplace with you.. once we reach the city," said Lina with a determined look on her face.

Wang could read her brain. And he was happy at the girl's determination to perform. "As you wish!" replied Wang. "Robin, let us go the company straightaway," ordered Wang.

There was very little conversation during the rest of the journey. Wang did not want to continue with the jokes anymore. The girl was too innocent to observe his intentions. He decided to give her some emotional rest.
