The CEO's Rented Wife

Lina went back to the company, totally clueless of what to expect. Ning had already called Jimmy and asked him to pay more attention towards Lina's tasks. Wang was a strict and a disciplined CEO. He might be showing a lot of patience towards Lina, but his patience had a limit. And everyone knew that.

Lina's foot was much better. She had no problem as she walked towards her office after having reached the company. Lina entered her office and sat on her chair. A calling machine had already been placed on her working desk. While Lina was still inspecting the machine as she tried to figure out how it worked, she got scared when someone hurriedly walked into her office. It was Jimmy.

"What did you say to Ning regarding me?" asked Jimmy. He, clearly, looked angry and frustrated.

"I did not say anything," answered Lina.

"If you share any of the details regarding me or Dongmei, this would totally be your loss. Neither Ning nor Wang can do us any harm. We work for the Chinese Government. But, you are helpless. They will destroy you," warned Jimmy.

"I did not say anything about you or mom. I am not being able to handle my work responsibilities very well. So, aunt Ning was scolding me and I started crying. Ning decided to give you a call and help me with all these new tasks," explained Lina.

"And, why do you think I am going to help you? You do not even pick up my calls," remarked Jimmy.

"If I get fired from my job, I would no longer be able to help you. You never know how the next personal assistant of the CEO will behave," Lina tried to use her brain.

"Hmm.. So, what help do you need?" asked Jimmy.

"Company's receptionist is on a leave. Wang has asked me to handle all the calls that come in and forward them to the respective departments. I don't know how to operate this machine," said Lina as she pointed at the machine that was placed on her desk.

Jimmy turned on the computer that was placed on Lina's working desk. He attached some wires of the calling machine with the computer and turned it on using software. "You don't have to be a rocket scientist to handle this. Just remember these symbols that are printed on the buttons of the calling machine. Every symbol is associated to a particular department," explained Jimmy.

"What do you mean?" Lina was clueless.

"Keep on receiving the calls as you get them. Suppose, the call is for Wang, press the button with the one star symbol, it will get transferred to Chunhua's office. Similarly, if the call is for Smith, press the button with two stars symbol, it will get transferred to his office. Three stars is for Wang, square symbol is for me, circle is for John.. and so on," explained Jimmy.

"And how do I remember which symbols are associated to which department?" Lina was worried.

Jimmy opened a Microsoft excel sheet in Lina's computer. "See this list. It has all the symbols and the names of the departments associated to them. Keep this list opened before you and transfer the calls accordingly," instructed Jimmy.

"Oh My God! There are so many symbols and departments. How am I going to handle all this?"

"That is not my problem," Jimmy said with an uninterested expression. "I have to go back to my department. Don't you dare miss any of my phone calls. Dongmei will give you a call today. We need an important doc.u.ment from Wang's office. And, you will get that for us," ordered Jimmy.

"What? You want me to steal a doc.u.ment from Wang's office?" Lina was stunned. "I can't do this," she sighed.

"You don't have any other option, but to trust us. We have to catch Wang and his partners red-handed. And, if you want to stay safe from all the mess, you will help us with that," threatened Jimmy.

"Which doc.u.ment are you talking about? Why can't you get it by yourself?" asked Lina.

"You are the one who has an easy access to Wang's office and all his personal doc.u.ments. Neither I nor any other employee can go there. Dongmei will give you all the further details," said Jimmy as he walked back to his office.
