The CEO's Rented Wife

Chapter 95 - 'I can't do this'

Lina and Ning's maid carried boxes containing footwear inside Ning's house. A few minutes later, Lina walked into the lobby area, where Ning had been sitting and waiting for Lina.

Lina looked sad, pale and exhausted.

As soon as Lina sat in the lobby, Ning started shouting at her. "Why are you so brainless? You could have asked any other person to carry these boxes to my house. Why can't you just stay with Wang?" yelled Ning.

"How can I refuse to take Mr. Wang's orders?" sighed Lina. Her voice and expression clearly showed that she was out of energy.

"I called you yesterday night. Why didn't you answer my calls?" Ning asked.

"I had taken some medicines for my foot pain. I think the medicines had sedation in them. I fell asleep very soon. I had no idea that the phone was ringing," Lina lied.

"I called you in the morning as well," pointed out Ning.

"I was with Mr. Wang. He could have doubted us if I had picked up the phone," Lina lied again.

"How could you be with Wang so early in the morning?" Ning doubted as she gave a stern look to Lina.

Lina was silent. She was on the verge of letting her emotions take control of her.

Ning spoke again. "Did you know how anxious I felt the entire night? What is happening to you? CAN YOU ATLEAST ANSWER ME?" yelled Ning.

Lina could no longer digest Ning's anger. She started crying.

"Ay! No! Why are you crying?" Ning lowered her volume and looked at Lina with a little warmth. "I can't see tears. Please don't cry," Ning consoled Lina. She called the maid from the kitchen and asked her to bring two cups of coffee. Ning sat up from her seat and walked towards Lina to have a seat alongside her. She gave her a half hug so as to calm her down.

"Mrs. Ning, I don't think I can do this," cried Lina.

Ning gently massaged Lina's hands and spoke. "Don't cry please! My anxiety made me shout at you," explained Ning. She gave Lina a warm hug and spoke again. "Tell me everything that is bothering you," smiled Ning.

"Aunty, everything is getting too stressful for me. My grandmother thinks that I am doing something illegal. I have to lie to her so many times," cried Lina as she continued to share everything with Ning. "I am not able to handle the job duties. I think I am making too many mistakes. Although Mr. Wang is showing great patience towards me, I feel that my lack of professional experience will make me lose my job," Lina shared.

Aunt Ning tried to calm down Lina. "I had asked the head of the technical department, Jimmy, to help you with everything. Isn't he helping you with the tasks?" inquired Ning.

Lina got scared after having heard Jimmy's name. 'Should I tell aunt Ning everything about Jimmy and my mother? Ning thinks that Jimmy is her trustworthy employee, but he isn't. He is there to keep an eye on Wang,' Lina got lost in thoughts of her own. 'But, what if Jimmy is right?' Lina thought. Her fear was getting too much for her to handle.

"Tell me, is Jimmy helping you with the tasks?" Ning asked again.

"I think he might have been busy in his own work. I did not get a chance to meet him at my office," lied Lina.

"That stupid man! How dare he refuse my orders?" Ning felt offended. She looked at Lina again. "Don't worry. I'll have a talk with him. He will help you with all the tasks," assured Ning. "Tell me what else Wang has asked you to do?" asked Ning.

"For today, I have to handle all the calls at the reception," shared Lina.

"You can go back to the office now. I will have a talk with Jimmy. He will be there to help you," assured Ning. She smiled at Lina to calm her down and spoke again. "I had a talk with one of the employees of the company today morning. He noticed a big change in Wang's attitude. Wang is treating you differently. Be strong and don't talk about quitting again," instructed Ning.

Lina was in a more stress now. She had been ignoring her mother and Jimmy from past few days. But, this would not be possible now.
