"Huh?"

Rhaxtyx was shocked to see that Badgey shine like that. It was confused as well. It looked around, and it seemed a bit scared. But in the end nothing bad happened. Its height doubled, making him a meter long from the ground and its eyes shone with intelligence as well. Also, its aura changed too.

After consuming the monster core, Badgey underwent a transformation.

"Woah! I can feel mana around you! That's awesome!"

That was right. Badgey managed survive the chaotic energy of the monster core and successfully managed to transform into a magical beast. The odds were against Badgey but it managed to pull through.

"So... You're a magical beast now eh? You don't seem different."

Badgey seemed to be irritated by that comment and started to ready itself.

"What? Are you going to attack me? You think you can take me down?"

Just as Rhaxtyx said, Badgey pounced at him. He scratched and bited into his flesh. Even though it did not draw blood, it still left its mark.

"OW OW OW! Why you little!

{Blazing flames of the nether-}

What the- Whhat is that- *Cough* What the hell is that smell!?"

Just as Rhaxtyx was about to release a firebolt at Badgey, he smelled a rotten scent. Like something was dead and was left there for a couple of weeks. And it was worse than that. The smell was so potent that even his eyes were burning and he could not open them properly.

When he managed to open them though, he saw Badgey snickering at him. Laughing while rolling on the floor. After it got up, Badgey looked at him, turned around and after shaking its b.u.t.t, started walking towards the camp while wagging its tail.

"That *Cough* bastard! *Cough Cough* I will kill it one day! *Cough cough* "

When Rhaxtyx returned, Badgey was sleeping with Angeline like it was before consuming the core but it was crushing her because of its new body. She was frowning because of the pain and was having trouble breathing. Rhaxtyx thought about having his revenge on Badgey but gave up after considering what Angeline would do to him afterwards.

After the sun rose from east, Angeline woke to a pain in her c.h.e.s.t. She was surprised from what she saw.

"AAAAH!" (Angeline)

"WHAT? What is going on?"

"AAAAH! What is this!?"

"Ah that? It's Badgey of course."

"What. Have. You. DONE TO HIM!?

"Oh just made it eat the monster core. That's all."

"WHAT!? Are you nuts? You could've killed him!"

"But I didn't. Its fine don't you see? Actually it's more than fine. Look at it! It's bigger now."

"That is not! AN EXCUSE!"

"Hmph! At least he is okay. That is what's important. Are you feeling okay, Badgey?"

To that question, Badgey nodded and licked Angeline's face. Then it snuggled to her and shot a smug look to Rhaxtyx.

"We should get going. We have a long road ahead of us." (Angeline)

"What about breakfast?"

"We can catch it on the road. Plus, do you think you deserve breakfast?"

"Haah."

"Let's go!"

They continued their journey with that. Angeline was trying to get used to Badgey's new form and Rhaxtyx was still going on with his practices. After two or so days, when he was focusing on his knowledge once again, he noticed a difference. There was something extra in his brain.

"What is this? A new law? When did I comprehend it? Was it the fight with the bird? Maybe it is its skill. Is there a chant for this?"

When he focused on this new law he only felt that it was about sounds. This proved that it was because of the ability of Gleam Bleak. But that was all. There were no indications on how to use it since it was from a magical beast and it was the natural ability of that beast.

"Haah. How am I supposed learn how to use it if you don't give me anything!? So should I just scream? Like the bird? Let's give it a try shall we."

*Inhale*

"HAAA-" *Ping* "AAAAAHH! Sh*t! That hurt! Look like it's not like that. I should work on this."

In the silent night, the occasional scream was heard.

The trio went on their way like usual. It would take them a week or so to reach their destination. The village was called Ophula. It was not a big village but because it was on the road between Vulca and Leilo, they had the occasional traveler.

Angeline, Rhaxtyx and Badgey were approaching the village from the main road. With a little bit of mana manipulation, they were able to disguise Badgey but it was just an illusion. It would make Badgey seem smaller but it was not effective against physical contact.

There was a notice at the village entrance, stating: 'Imperial decree! Anyone who sees a boy with white hair and red eyes report to authorities immediately. Relevant information will be rewarded.

"Hey Rex. Look. They are searching you."

'This is bad. Is it because of the attack at Feraz Village? There was no one else there, I checked the mana vibrations.'

"Huh? That's weird. You said those traits are rare."

"Maybe a demon appeared as well? It's good that your disguise is on. Let's go. I should put disguise on as well. Just in case."

She made her hair blonde and her eyes a shade darker. They entered the village. They asked around about Angeline's mother and about the tavern. They did not like the answer they got. Apparently, her mother left the village and her whereabouts are unknown and while in her absence, a group of thugs claimed the tavern for themselves.

After hearing all this, they walked towards the tavern. As they walked, Angeline's face turned more and more serious. The tavern sign was different and there was laughter coming from inside. Rhaxtyx held her arm and stopped her.

"What?" (Angeline)

"You okay Ange?"

"I'm okay. Would you let my arm go now?"

"It is this tavern right?"

"What?"

"This is your tavern right?"

"Yes. But the sign has changed. So I'm worried."

"It'll be fine. I'm sure your mother is safe. Let's go."

"Yes."

As they got closer to the tavern, voices of laughter and music started to be heard. There were a lot of patrons and they were having a lot of fun by the sounds.

"This is the first time I'm hearing people having so much fun in that tavern."

"It's okay. Let's enter now."

"Yes."

As they entered, what they saw shocked both of them. Thugs were everywhere. There were a lot of waiters as well. At the counter there was a burly man with scars all over his face. He raised his eyebrow when he saw Angeline and Rhaxtyx came in. Not just him, everyone at the place were locked their eyes on them.

"Welcome, travelers. How can I help you? We don't have a hot meal right now but we can work something quick. If you want we have empty rooms upstairs." (Burly Man)

"Hello. Umm, we were looking for a person actually. And who would know something like that better than a tavern right?" (Rhaxtyx)

"Hahaha. You flatter me sir. So, who is it? Even though it's not been very long since we've been here, I might know the person you're looking for."

"Her name is Helen Ulvia. She is the owner of this tavern, you outsider!" (Angeline)

"*whisper* Ange!"

"Who do you think you are young lady!? You have no right yelling at the owners of the tavern!"

"I'm the daughter of the owners of this establishment, therefore I'm the owner. And I order you to leave my tavern! This place has no room for thugs like you!"

Angeline lost her temper. She was furious that the place where she grew up was in the hands of people like these. But the problem was, when she said who she was, every single person in the tavern got up and put their hands on their weapons. So they must know something about her mother.

"Look little girl. I don't know your face. You are not the person they said. So do not make a stupid mistake like pretending to be a person you shouldn't be." (Burly Man)

"I am who I am supposed to be!" *shing* "And you are trespassing on private property!"

As Angeline talked, she dropped her disguise and drew her short sword. Seeing this, thugs drew their blades as well.

"It's her! Capture her alive! There's a bounty on her head!"

Thugs surrounded them and drew their knives and short swords. There were men coming from upstairs and the kitchen. They numbered about 20 in total. Angeline was nervous. She gave in her adrenaline there and did something stupid. She did not expect that many thugs.
