The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Chapter 44 - God's Descent

Rhaxtyx felt hot wind on his cheeks and when he looked at where Baron Herald was he could see a big firestorm above his head. There was an occasional explosion in the firestorm and this caused damage to the building. The remaining balcony was already collapsed and the throne was nowhere to be seen. Probably launched out because the window behind it was smashed to pieces and the night sky was visible.

The bodies of the fallen soldiers were repeatedly turning to ashes and Knight Captain Reginal was the same. He was still looking at the Baron whilst being burned alive. He was kneeling and there was sorrow in his eyes.

Baron Herald himself was laughing maniacally as he controlled the firestorm.

"Do you see now demon!? This is my power, my authority! With this power I'll turn you to ashes! Burn away in hell where you belong!"

After Baron stopped talking he pointed at Rhaxtyx and released the storm above his head towards him. Rhaxtyx was standing near the door. The black portal was long since disappeared and Reginald was reduced to ashes. He looked around to find some cover but that was what was amazing about fire type spells. They would cover corners as well, meaning taking cover meant little to nothing. Also the spell itself was also destroying the interior as well.

"I really should something like {Dispel Magic}!" (Rhaxtyx)

Rhaxtyx was still looking around for some kind of solution when he saw that the spell was eating away at the floor too. Seeing this he smiled and chanted a Tier 2 Firebolt. Baron saw this and smirked.

"Fighting fire with fire? Hmph! It is futile demon! A Tier 2 spell has no effect on this!" (Baron)

"Who said I'm aiming at that? This is where this goes!"

Rhaxtyx launched the spell at the floor right under where the spell was. It was the weakest point so far so Rhaxtyx expected it to be a lot easier to break there. He was right at his assumption as once the Firebolt hit small cracks started spreading around.

"What the hell?!"

"You might not have noticed but your {Firestorm} destroys everything around, including the floor. See you on the second floor!"

The cracks spread everywhere on the floor, thanks to the firestorm weakening the structure. Soon enough the crack completely covered the floor and it began collapsing. Rhaxtyx jumped to one of the holes and landed one floor below. The spell was about to hit him when he jumped but because he escaped at the last second, the spell hit the wall. The result of this was a big explosion and a lot of debris.

"That was close. If I was hit by it I'm sure I would have a hard time."

*boom*

"Oh right. It would be best if I moved. I don't want to be stuck under the debris."

Rhaxtyx currently in a huge reception room with a long table in the middle of it. There were various decorations around the room and at the head of the table was an oil painting of Baron Herald. He walked towards the door and opened it to see a fully collapsed corridor. The corridor was filled with rocks and there weren't even any cracks.

"This might be a problem."

*Crash!*

He looked behind him and the rest of the floor just crashed down. The table was smashed to pieces and the room had very little areas to be called a foothold. The debris filled most of the room. Rhaxtyx assumed the Baron had some kind of fail safe with him to prevent being stuck in this kind of situations but there were no movements or sounds apart from the occasional rock falling down.

Rhaxtyx looked around but the dust made it hard to see and breathe. He was coughing as he walked around, climbed the rocks and searched for the Baron. He would not relax until he confirmed his death. As he looked, he realized that the explosion was a tad too powerful as the walls had cracks on the opposite side of the explosion. The center of the explosion was non-existent at that point.

"That dude is powerful."

"I will kill that bastard!" (Baron)

Rhaxtyx heard Baron's voice from outside. He climbed down to one of the broken windows and saw that the Baron was launched outside. His clothes were smoking a little but other than that he was fine. He was furious that his mansion got damaged to that point so he was swearing endlessly.

Rhaxtyx jumped down from the window and landed at the walkway, avoiding the flower garden just a step behind him. Baron's tantrum was over when he saw Rhaxtyx and he was glaring at him.

'If only gazes could kill right Baron Herald?'

"It's a nice night, don't you think so too?"

"You bastard. Now I have more reasons to kill you. Yes it is a nice night. A clear sky is all that I could. Gods shall bear witness as I torture you to death."

"You are going to have a hard time doing that y'know. I can't die."

"We shall see that. {Come}"

Baron spoke a single word in an unknown language to Rhaxtyx. As he was wondering what was that about he heard a door open. He turned around and surprised to see a lot of demi-human slaves come out from the mansion. Some of them were in tattered clothes while some were n.a.k.e.d al together. But the only common thing about them that was relevant to the situation was they all had some kind of a sharp object with them., even the children.

"What… are you doing?"

"Can't I ask for assistance demon? I called them here."

"Are you going to kill them to get to me?!"

"No demon. You, will be the one to kill them."

"What? Why would I raise my fist against them?!"

"I want to ask you a question."

The slaves walked towards the Baron and formed a circle around him. While he stroked one of the n.a.k.e.d elven woman's cheeks, he asked Rhaxtyx smugly.

"What makes the perfect soldier?"

"What?! What are you talking abou-"

"You probably think of trained people, right? Let me tell you this, that is not wrong but not right as well. You see,"

Baron picked a knife from one of the slaves and gave it a look calmly. After that he looked at Rhaxtyx and his eyes changed. He swiftly drove the knife to the elven woman's stomach.

"Stop!" (Rhaxtyx)

But even though Rhaxtyx shouted, it was too late. Rhaxtyx expected to hear a scream or a shout of pain but there wasn't even a grimace on the woman's face. It was like a porcelain mask.

"What makes perfect soldiers is not trained people or people who are fighting for a cause. No. The perfect soldiers are mindless slaves! Perfect soldiers do whatever you tell them to and don't question you. They don't feel happy or sad. They don't get sick. They don't even feel pain!"

He then proceeded to stab the elven woman repeatedly until she collapsed and stopped breathing. Until that point she didn't even raise her voice, not even once. Rhaxtyx's anger kept climbing up and was on the verge of breaking.

"That is why I won't kill them. Why would I throw a perfect army away? Well, if you don't consider ordering them to attack throwing away."

"You sick bastard! I've never felt this angry before! I'll make you wish you were never born!"

"But I was born right? To rule these lands with grace and make my people prosper. For that I have to prosper first don't you think?"

"That is not how being a ruler is like! You know nothing!"

"Oh really? Then why don't you teach me then, demon. {Attack}"

He spoke one more word in the same language as before and all the slaves started charging at Rhaxtyx. Baron was laughing to his heart's content while Rhaxtyx had sweat appear on his forehead. The slaves charged at him relentlessly. He tried to dodge or deflect them and their attacks but he was not good at close quarters combat.

'I should've learned the way of the sword as well! Dammit I don't want to hurt them. He must be using some kind of a magical slave mark or something. If so I can' t kill him that easily or these slaves die as well.'

"Having fun demon! Or should I call you teacher? You were going to teach me how to rule right? I'm still waiting you know."

Rhaxtyx looked at him with contempt. Baron's smog expression made him want to torture him. He knew slavery and was indifferent. But that was until he descended on this world and met its people. He saw how people treated each other with more detail. He couldn't see this much detail when he looked from his domain and this shook him. Humans were acting as if they were the top of the food chain when they were actually not that powerful. Their way of acting was perhaps the result of their fear and cowardice.

'Why should I lend them a hand when they are just a lower-class human than me.' This thought process made him angry and when it reached his circle of important things, it made him furious. The last straw that broke the camel's back was when he saw Kai in that condition. Even though he didn't know her, she was still a little child. A child wasn't supposed to go through that.

Even now, among the slaves that attacked him there were children. Some pure blood, some half. The earlier act of Baron suggested that he r.a.p.ed these poor slaves whenever he wanted and the proof of it was in front of his eyes.

Even though he vowed to kill everyone and everything that tried to stop him, he couldn't kill these poor people because their minds were not of their own. Rhaxtyx's body was covered with his own blood. He didn't raise his hand a single time in this fight. He once tried to chant a Firebolt but one of the slaves jumped in front of it, giving his life to protect the Baron.

"Do you see now demon? This is how the world works! I'm sure you like tormenting as well. Stealing people's minds and souls for yourself. We are the same! You killed countless men just to reach me! Now you will kill more. Are you happy, demon? Are you happy that your thirst for blood got quenched?! HAHAHAHA!"

"Che!*

Rhaxtyx jumped around and over the slaves. But he couldn't dodge every single one when they numbered at hundreds.

"Didn't you think I had too few soldiers near me? Well these slaves are the rest of my forces! They can kill really efficiently you know, I used them before!"

"You sick bastard."

Just as Rhaxtyx was going to try his luck with charging through them, he felt a slight tingle in his head. His anger was fueling him right now so he didn't think much but this tingle changed everything. He finally understood why these slaves were this mindless.

'Truly a bastard. That son of a b*tch used a mind control spell!'

Rhaxtyx stopped and chanted a Tier 1 Sonic Boom.

*Roar!*

All the slaves got pushed back, except one child. He wrapped himself around Rhaxtyx's arm and managed to resist the shockwave. After the shockwave he began biting into Rhaxtyx's arm to try and hurt him. Seeing this, Rhaxtyx had nothing to do but one thing. He looked at the Baron and spoke.

"Nice trick you tried. Too bad it won't have an effect on me."

"What? What are you-"

"I'm talking about your charm spell. I can't be charmed you see."

"How do you-"

"I'm the God of Magic. I know every spell there is, was and will ever be. You tried to use it on me so I cracked its formula now. Now that I know how you controlled all these people, I can finally kill you."

"Stay back! You idiots! Stop him. Kill him!"

Rhaxtyx started approaching the Baron while talking. He was calm but his anger could be read in his eyes. They were more crimson than ever before. He was trying to talk to Yggdrasil.

'Oi you tree! Come out."

"What, took a break from your killing?"

'Not the time. I'm going to use my powers a bit.'

"Are you nuts?! You can hardly keep it for five seconds and you want to use it?"

'Yes.'

"There's the other world tree so it'll be harder for you! Do you want to die?!"

'Then tell me a way to un-charm these people with my current condition. While in combat I don't believe I'll have that much accuracy.'

"Three seconds! You hear me? More and you are dead!"

'Thank you.'

Rhaxtyx looked at the kid and smiled. He lifted his right hand and coated it in mana.

"What are you doing?! Are you going to kill that child maybe? So you really are a demon!"

"Shut up."

He aimed his hand to his left shoulder and struck. It took him a couple of hits but he finally cut his arm off.

"You lunatic!"

"Now I can focus on you."

Rhaxtyx looked at Baron Herald and smiled. Baron Herald was scared and his legs were trembling. He took a couple of steps back but he fell down to the ground fairly quickly. Rhaxtyx stopped a few feet from him and started speaking. While he spoke, his aura began changing as well as his appearance. He started looking a bit older and he became taller. His left arm which he cut himself began regenerating with a visible speed and this scared the Baron even more.

"You have sinned heavily. These slaves were your mistakes. You killed, r.a.p.ed and disregarded everyone under you. Death is kindness to you. Car cas jul he barr. (Charming eyes stares down [at you])"

Rhaxtyx's eyes shone a tinge of purple and that same shine also appeared at every single humanoid in the vicinity, including Baron Herald. The slaves looked around and some of them screamed when they saw the bloodied weapon in their hands. They were scared. Rhaxtyx smiled and cancelled his transformation. His head was aching and he felt pain again but he thought it was worth it.

He looked at Baron and spoke.

"I hope that counts as a lesson. Now you can do whatever you are ought to do."

With his last word, Baron herald held his leg and began pulling it. Realizing it was not enough, he took a knife and began stabbing it. After a couple of stabs he dropped the knife and began pulling at his leg once more. This time it was enough and his leg came off easily. Throughout this process his face was still and he didn't even raise his voice. But his mind was intact and he could feel everything.

Rhaxtyx charmed him when he was transformed but didn't take his mind away from him so he could feel all the pain he caused. This was Rhaxtyx's punishment. The punishment of a god.

Rhaxtyx left him there and looked at the slaves. He didn't speak until they were calmed down. After a couple of minutes he spoke.

"From today onwards, you are free. Your master is being punished as you can see and he will not be able to touch you anymore. It's over. Do what ever you want." (Rhaxtyx)

He left the crowd and wore his disguise again. Just as he was about to distance himself, one of the braver slaves, a male dwarf came out and called for him.

"Who are you?"

"Who am I? Well I'm Rhaxtyx, the God of Magic, of course."

With that remark, he left. He left the mansion grounds, leaving a confused crowd behind him.

"God of Magic? I've never heard of that before."

"Was there a god like that?"

"My elf race doesn't have them."

"Dwarves don't have many magic related things either."

"He looked like a human though!"

"Maybe, a new ascendant?"

"I don't know. All I know is this: He saved us."

They all looked at each other with complicated eyes. They were free.

Rhaxtyx left the mansion grounds and walked towards the city walls. He wanted to announce the news to the city folk. He climbed the stairs, disregarded the soldiers on the streets and on the walls. They charged at him but when they approached, they felt his bloody atmosphere and stopped.

Atop the gatehouse he stood. He chanted a Sonic Boom but instead of roaring, he began talking, making his voice heard from every corner of the city.

"Citizens of Vulca City. You lord is dead! From now on, you are free! As the God of Magic, I Rhaxtyx, deem you free!"

After this announcement, he left the city to where his friends were. They were awake and were waiting for his arrival. When they saw each other, a smile appeared on their faces.

"'God of Magic', huh?" (Roman)

"Yeah. The I have come from another world so they might not believe it."

"You are a genuine god so, this is something like a descend, right? Descending from the heavens down to earth." (Roman)

"A god's descent. That seems appropriate." (Miriam)

"A god's descent huh? I like it." (Rhaxtyx)

"So what do we do now?" (Roman)

"How about going to the capital?" (Miriam)

"We could do that. We have enough cash and we also have a kid to take care of as well." (Rhaxtyx)

"Then it is decided." (Roman)

""Let's go to the Capital.""
