The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Angeline looked at the rubble and saw Rhaxtyx under there, lying upside down. She was scared because of the suddenness of the situation, she thought it was an attack.

"Rex what are you doing?!"

"That's not how it was supposed to happen."

"What are you talking about? What was that?! Who attacked you?!"

"It was me."

"Huh? What are you-"

"Let me just- let me just sleep for a while. My head hurts."

And after saying that, Rhaxtyx just closed his eyes. His head fell to his side and he started to sleep.

"This idiot... He's too reckless! I hope this doesn't cause any problems."

She took him near the camp fire and laid him there. Then revitalized the fire and went to catch some food. After about an hour or so she returned with two rabbits on hand. When she returned, Rhaxtyx was awake and was sitting there silently. He did not even react to her loud steps, as if he thought she did not exist.

"I have brought food."

He gave no response. His eyes did not move at all, just looking in front of him. Angeline waved her hands but he did not even blink. She sighed and cleaned the rabbits. He didn't give response to anything she said to him. Not even shaking him bore any results. He came to himself after the meal was cooked.

"Thanks for the meal." (Rhaxtyx)

"So you were okay after all!"

"Yes. Did you think I was not?"

"Well you did not response at all. And you seemed like you hit your head."

"No way. This body is the body of a god after all. Nothing can harm it."

"You directly went to sleep afterwards what was that about then?"

"Oh that! Nom* Oy jost wontod to sleop a bith" (I just wanted to sleep a bit)

"So? What was that about? Will you tell me already?"

"Well, I meditated so that I can better control mana."

"And?"

"After meditating until dawn and practicing [Disguise] I have a bit of control on it, look!"

Rhaxtyx immediately cast [Disguise] on himself but what he transformed was a freckled black haired and a bit chubby Angeline. Overall he didn't succeed.

"Why are you so proud when you can't even properly land my looks? I'm not that chubby and where are the freckles?"

"Anyway, after that I was bored by it and tried casting that fireball spell."

"What?! That is a 3 chant spell! How can you even try that?"

"I'm the God of Magic! I thought it wouldn't be that hard!"

"But you failed I presume."

"With style!"

"You blew up!?"

"Kind of. I think it failed because of the laws and back fired, literally."

"At least you're fine."

"Enough of me blowing up, what are we doing now?"

"I told you that there is a village that's a week away towards north right? That's our destination."

"What are we going to do there?"

"There someone I have to meet."

"Like a boyfriend?"

"Don't be ridiculous." *Glare*

"My bad. Then who?"

"You do not need to know. Not yet at least. Get ready, well depart soon."

"Going there I'm okay with, but with what?

"Legs, of course. Don't tell me you don't like walking?"

"That's the fun part. I like walking but I don't know about long distances. I've never walked that far before! One week you said? I'm in!"

"Seriously, I'm having a hard time understanding your thinking."

"Others said the same thing. Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

"Others? Who are they? Your friends?"

"Well you can call them my friends yes, but I'm not sure they would accept that. They are other gods of course. The God of Knowledge and I are good friends!"

"So there are other gods in your world as well."

"Of course! There is God of Knowledge, God of Love, God of War and many more! I'll introduce them to you some time!"

"I don't know about that."

"Why?"

"I'm sorry."

"Okay, apology accepted. But why though?"

"To be honest… I don't… know how to send you back."

"Oh… I see. Was that why you apologized? Then don't worry!"

"Huh?"

"It's fine really! We'll find a way! Plus, I'm enjoying it for the time being! Was that all you wanted to say? If so let's walk!"

And from then, they started walking. They walked and walked. It was the middle of spring so forest was overflowing with green and colorful flowers were giving out their fragrance. Various animals were busy with making their nests and finding food. Rhaxtyx was ecstatic with the scenery, he would touch everything. Angeline was like a mother running after her child. Even though she said she hated this situation, she didn't mind as she had fun.

Their journey took a week. And Rhaxtyx would not miss any opportunity to conduct experiments. He chased after wild animals and magical beasts alike, saying they would be his guinea pigs. He even used his body for these experiments. He would meditate, practice spells and fail miserably, eat poisonous things and be a pain in the a.s.s for Angeline.

But this trip was not all trouble for Angeline. She started to accept Rhaxtyx's odd behavior as they spent time together. She would even smile from her heart sometimes. She would not admit but she enjoyed Rhaxtyx's company.

And Rhaxtyx as well. He always wanted to experience what mortals did. He was always so curious and even his logic was based around that. He could do everything to learn and quench his curiosity. Even if it means cutting himself to pieces, which would mean nothing to him because his body was that of divinity and would come together eventually. He tried it on the fourney once but Angeline scolded him for even thinking of that.

He learned various things from this journey. About this world, it's rules and people. And the very first spell he learned is 'Disguise'. He could now hide his original appearance. Even though he wanted to meet with another human to see his reaction but Angeline stopped him at the last moment.

"I can't believe you are so careless! After all I told you, you want to meet a person to gauge their reaction? You want to get in trouble?" (Angeline)

"Why?! Oh right you said I would be hunted. But that could be fun! I could gauge the strength of people here for god's sake! Wait, that's wrong. For my sake! Yeah that's right."

"You make my head hurt. With your non-existent common sense, endless curiosity and fast learning nature. You are unexplainable."

"Praise me more!"

"And how durable is your body? I sometimes hear you practice in the night and I should collect you bits from trees under normal circ.u.mstances!"

"Yes! YES!"

"Would you shut up already?! We will reach tomorrow evening."

"What's the village called?"

"Feraz. A stockbreeding village. We will stay there for about a week."

"Are you going to tell me what this is about already? You've been hiding the reason we are going to this small village."

"I thought experiencing new things was enough?"

"It is, don't get me wrong. But there is something that hurts you. I want to know."

"Your curiosity will be your doom."

"That's where you are wrong. That is my nature! And I want to see just who can stand in my way!"

"Look. I can't tell you. I can't tell anybody. It is something that left a deep scar, that's all I can tell."

"Well you summoned me here. So sooner or later, I'll have to get involved."

"You'll know soon. Once I'm ready."

"No rush."

"You really are cunning. I hate you for that."

"What, did you really think I was an idiot? You got to look deeper than that Ange."

"Maybe you are right."

"Oh, when are we going to make camp? My feet are starting to hurt."

"Oh? You got tired? That's rare."

"Normally I wouldn't be tired at all. The reduced mana is probably causing my body to be more mortal like. My regeneration is slowed down as well. Of course, I still won't die. Plus I like resting. That way I can think about the experiments that I've done and think up many more!"

"Please don't make the small village a field research."

"Actually, that's a good idea."

"Rex!"

"I'm just joking. Don't worry. Haha."

Thus they set up camp under the shades of trees. The sun has begun to set and the forest life gave way to night life. Crickets started their songs while fireflies danced to it. Owls would cheer for fireflies for their amazing performance while rest of the forest laid its eyes on this beautiful dance. Rhaxtyx would watch this performance of nature with an innocent smile. Every night this would repeat and every night Angeline would watch Rhaxtyx with amazement. Wondering how he does not lose interest even for a second.

But this night was a bit different. Some fireflies, like they just noticed Rhaxtyx's presence, came towards him. He reached with his hand and a firefly landed on it. After a moment, the rest of the fireflies circled around him, dancing to a tune that is inaudible to humans, around Rhaxtyx. He also joined these little lives for their dances.

Under the illumination of fireflies' green light, Rhaxtyx looked like a sage. Angeline's eyes were captivated by this sight, wondering how this is even possible. She could not move her eyes away, afraid that she would miss this breath-taking dance.

Rhaxtyx danced like there was no tomorrow. He did not care anyway. As long as moments like these happened, nothing really mattered to him. This dance continued for thirty more minutes until finally, fireflies went away, remembering their mission to illuminate the forest.

*Clap clap clap clap clap*

"Thank you, thank you." (Rhaxtyx)

"That was… beautiful, Rex. That was amazing!"

"It was nothing really. Just nature in its fullest."

"Do not try to be humble please. Your dance with those fireflies was breath taking. I didn't know you could dance like that."

"You never looked."

"What?"

"You think a sight like this is amazing. I understand you. But humans are always like that. They take things for granted and always think that the most beautiful thing is what they made, while ignoring the fact that they destroy the natural order of things. I say you never looked, because I was always one with nature, even in a different world like this. I said I'm The God of Magic and yet you are still somewhat skeptical about it. I don't blame you for that, even I wouldn't believe something like that.

But if you tried to feel, even for once, then you would understand my standing in this world. You would see me for who I am, for what I am. I am magic itself, in its purest form. And magic is a part of nature itself. It was always like this. And how these two concepts that are so different from each other can be so same and exist with one another. Now I think THAT is the amazing thing. That's why you have to look deeper. Deeper than anyone to understand the truth, to see reality. Even these fireflies are more powerful than you, even than me, in this aspect."
