The Dragon Amulet

Fuelled by his anger and hatred of fact that he was constantly living in his own shadow, Shen Nu walked over to a seat near stage 2 and started watching the ongoing fight. He appeared to be looking at the fight however he was staring through then at the young woman on the opposite side of the stage, Shen Mei. His mind was immediately filled with the events of 2 and a half years ago, when she saved his life.

Shen Nu was walking towards the inn in which he had just started working, his mind had a little bit of hope, he believed he maybe able to turn his shitty life around. As he turned the corner by a small and run down blacksmiths store, he was stopped by a group of men who had been payed by the Shen Clan to make the stain on their reputation disappear.

The men, poor themselves, sold out their morals for money and proceeded to beat the 15 year old Shen Nu within an inch of his life, he was cut repeatedly by knives and stabbed through the stomach (his body still bares the wounds of that day), as he was ready to accept his death, a girl his age let out a scream and ran towards the men.

She began manipulating her unique Qi and partially transformed into a phoenix, the sight was one of the few things Shen Nu found beautiful in this world. Flames danced around her body as she closed the distance between her and the men before saying" In the name of the Shen clan stop beating that boy, I Shen Mei refuse to allow it any longer. If you insist on carrying on, I will kill you all."

One of the men kicked Shen Nu who was lying on the floor before turning to Shen Mei and saying" The Shen Clan? Who do you think hired us to beat this child? We normally would never do something like this however the money that they offered was more than enough for the three of us to get out of the slums for ever. We have no choice in this, we either accept the money or starve to death."

Angered and confused Shen Mei walked towards the men, her Qi begin to run rampant as her emotions began to change rapidly between anger and shock, she caused a circle of fire to surround Shen Nu, burning the feet of the men that were surrounding him. As they flinched backwards, Shen Mei took Shen Nu towards the Inn and up to a room where she began to use the Phoenix's Qis unique attribute which could repair wounds or damaged bodies.

As Shen Nu's wounds began to heal, Shen Mei looked over his damaged body, she went to touch his slim but muscly c.h.e.s.t however Shen Nu coughed himself awake, he took one glance at Shen Mei and with sadness in his eyes He asked" Why did you not just let me die? I would have been finally free if you had."

A tap on his shoulder pulled Shen Nu from his memories, he looked up to see Lily looming over him with an angry emotion on her face, she closed the little remaining distance between the two and snarled" Why did you leave alone this morning? You are lucky I didn't miss your first fight, woul;d have been more pissed if I had."

Shen Nu looked into Lily's eyes and said" I left because I know your true feelings regarding me, you do not want me but the other Shen Nu to come back. I understand why, you spent nearly 3000 years with him and it was the best time of your life however he is never coming back. I'm not him and I will no longer try to be, it is emotionally draining trying to be something I'm not. I left this morning to do some thinking alone, I'm happy to try this again however you have to accept that the shen nu you want is long dead. I'm not him and I never will be."

Before Lily could respond a old voice shouted from the stage" Shen Nu and Shen Mei, please get on the stage, your fight will begin now."

Shen Nu smiled at Lilly beofre pecking her cheek and walking towards the stage, he was jeered at as he approached and insults were hurled at him once he had jumped on the stage. In contrast Shen Mei was helped onto the stage by an attendant and the crowd were singing her praises, she looked Shen Nu in the eyes and asked" Are you glad that i didn't leave you die back then?"

Shen Nu just smiled at her and said" Yes I'm glad you saved me, If you hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to see you in that beautiful red dress."
