The Factory's Secret

Chapter 40 - Explanation

"Who are you?" He asked to Lena.

"My name is Lena. I'm Craig and Diana's daughter. I'm looking for them with my sister." Lena answered.

The man hesitated. He looked confusedly at Lena, but he took a loud breath.

"They are long lost friends. They were building a supercomputer. I didn't know where it was, but they had many projects all around the country, but I don't remember them telling anyone about those projects. I didn't even know their second supercomputer was that close to the first. They asked my help for one of those projects. You're in its base right know. I can tell you about them, but I don't want anyone other than you in your sister knowing." He concluded.

"They all already know everything. Caro is the head of the group in every sense. If she finds info, she could track X.A.R.A. with our help. I'll call my sister but I trust my friends." Lena said, like if she had found peace.

"Okay then." He agreed.

Lena called Luna on her phone. We she got in the bas.e.m.e.nt, she looked at the man waiting to know more.

"As I said, they asked my help for their projects around the country. They didn't know it was dangerous until they virtualized. After they did that, I never talked to them again. I don't know what happened then. It was when they finished their projects they virtualized. This one was left to waste because of its emplacement. But with this door, it's easier to counter attacks from enemies." He said.

"Where did they live all that time?" Luna asked.

"Near the school, because they were both teachers there. It was on East street, but I don't the address. To continue, there were at least a dozen projects around the country and even many around the world. They went over the border often because they had projects in Canada. At the beginning I was helping them. But the way it kept getting bigger and bigger... It was too dangerous. I stopped working with them and I don't know where they left. I didn't want to get in any trouble with the law." He informs the friends.

"And I have a hypothesis that I'd like to confirm. Was Diana a professional marathoner? I found out she was possibly a champion." Lena asked.

"Yes she was. She fell into depression after an injury that stopped her career completely. It was pretty bad. I'd like to visit your supercomputer room if you don't mind. Is that okay?" He asked.

"No, I'm okay with that. I'm Caro by the way." She presented herself before her other friends.

"I'm Mark." He responded.

They walk towards the factory and go down the bridge.

"We enforced the security. That's why you couldn't get down more." Luna said.

She took the screwdriver and hid the code of the lower level, just in case Mark isn't good news. The doors opened and Mark followed the friends inside.

"Do you have scanners here?" Mark asked.

"We do. They're complete." Caro said.

"Can you guys go in them? Is there a virtual reality linked to those?" He asked.

"Of course! It's called Aria, it has four territories and X.A.R.A.'s territory, which is central." Caro explained.

"There even are people on there. They're not human, though. We can't materialize them." Lena said.
