The God System

Chapter 31 - Passing

Mary woke up with a gasp and quickly sat up as she clutched her throat. She was wide-eyed and shocked that she was still alive. She was also hurt, as she never expected Abel to do something like that to her.

As tears began to well up in her eyes she heard "Congratulations, you have passed the final test", and stopped for a moment to turn and look towards the speaker of the voice.

It was the receptionist woman who brought her here. She saw the woman bow as she said "I'm sorry you had to go through that. Everyone is required to in order to enter the magician's guild, it is just some people have worse experiences." Looking towards the tears in Mary's eyes she said "And yours seemed to be extremely harsh"

"What do you mean?" Mary asked as she looked towards the woman.

"That was all an illusion. None of it was real, and it was used to test your integrity and morals. We don't want bad people in our guild, after all, so we try to weed them out as best as possible" She explained.

Hearing this Mary sighed in relief as she collapsed to the floor in exhaustion and relief, knowing that Abel never betrayed her, and she could still be with him. Thinking back to the illusion she wondered who Catherine was.

"Are the illusions based on real life?" Mary asked

"The illusions take memories from your brain to create a world where we can test your moral's."

"What if I learned something that I never knew before?" Mary asked dumbfounded.

"That is impossible. Maybe it's in the recess of your memory and you learned about it when you were a child, and just forgot about it as you grew older".

Mary nodded as she said "That's probably it" meanwhile she knew the woman was wrong because she had only been alive for just over a week, as she was summoned by Abel.

The woman nodded and asked "Are you able to get up? If not I can call someone and they will take you to a room where you can rest until you are able to move again?"

"I can move," Mary said as she struggled to get up, but eventually got on her feet albeit a little wobbly.

"Good, I will now give you your Magician's Guild ID, and with that, you will officially be a part of the Guild. You can do....." She began to explain the perks of being in the Magician's Guild.

"Can I also be a part of the Adventurer's Guild?" Mary asked.

"Sure, but if the Magician's Guild ever requires you to go on a mission we take first priority," the woman said.

Mary learned all the basics from the woman and thanked her before heading towards the hotel where she planned to meet up with Abel. She was too tired today to do research, and she just wanted to hug Abel and feel his presence as she was really scared during the illusion.
