The Heavenly Crystal

"Go get some rest, I'll be on guard duty tonight." Roan said as he looked at them.

They nodded their heads and went back to the mansion. Karl and Terrius also went back to their rooms, while Mark kept the beast carcass before walking back to his room. The mansion has about eight rooms in total, so Karl divided the rooms evenly, with four rooma for the ladies and four rooms for the men.

The night was surprisingly calm despite the howling of the nearby beasts. Roan was lost in his own thoughts when his dazed look suddenly gained its clarity. He focused his gaze into the distant road and saw about a dozen people armed with swords and bows. They all looked ferocious and skilled based on their formation.

Karl who was about to sleep sensed something ominous and hastily went out of his room to look for Roan. Terrius and Mark also went out of their rooms, their brows knitted together. Mark opened a nearby window and jumped gracefully out of the mansion. Karl and Terrius didn't stop him, but they were a bit shocked of his speed.

"Let's go wake the others up. Something is about to happen." Karl said gravely.

Terrius nodded his head and moved fast to inform the others.

'One, two, ... , thirteen people armed with Silver level swords and bows. Their intentions are unknown, but based on their looks, it's nothing good.' Roan thought as he studied the approaching people.

He felt a familiar presence coming towards his direction and saw a handsome silhoutte with two swords on his back looking towards a certain direction.

"Most of them are not that strong, but that guy in the middle looks quite troublesome to deal with." Mark said towards the listening Roan.

"Can you kill him?" Roan said calmly like killing was just a simple thing when he himself haven't killed someone yet.

"Of course, I was a mercenary before this started. I only studied in Ridge University because one of my targets was a professor in that school. He was involved in illegal drugs and human trafficking. But that old bastard died before I could even kill him." Mark said calmly.

"Is it alright for you to tell me all this much information?" Roan asked with a smile.

Mark shaked his head and answered "This information is of no value now that the world has turned into this."

Roan smiled and stood up from where he was hiding. The armed individuals moving towards the mansion saw him and was alarmed since they were not able to sense his presence.

"Leave this place and I'll forget seeing you people here." Roan said indifferently.

The men were puzzled at Roan's nonchalance and calmness.

"Idiot, do you think you can stop us alone?" asked one of them mockingly while the rest of them laughed loudly.

Terrius and Karl jumped on either side of Roan while glaring at their enemies.

"Looks like our hands will be stained with human blood tonight." Roan said with a sigh.

He flashed towards the enemies while unsheathing his sword. He then released a burning sword wind while he was still in mid air shocking the armed group.

"Don't panic, stay in formation. Archers shoot him!" ordered the guy in the middle while clenching both his fists and finally releasing a strong wind barrier.

"Air Shield!"

A three layered air shield was placed in front of them which blocked the burning sword wind of Roan. It hit the first layer of the shield and destroyed it compeltely. After hitting the second layer, it stopped for a moment before breaking it apart.

'Shit, he broke two layers of my Air Shield.' the guy thought with a hint of fear.

He then produced wind attacks with both hands and launched it towards Roan.

"Raawr!" Terrius used his Battle Cry while lifting his shield up to block the wind attacks. Karl released an arrow towards an enemy archer which hit the target perfectly on his glabella. (The place between someone's eyebrows.) Mark moved silently as he reaped the lives of two men effortlessly. He then disappeared back into the shadows. The men grew fearful at their increasing casualties and regretted coming towards this mansion.

The leader of the invading men shouted loudly while sending attacks towards Karl who was slowly killing his men from afar. Terrius jumped towards his direction and blocked the attack with ease while attacking a nearby enemy with his warhammer. The poor guy's head exploded upon contact with the gigantic hammer sending blood and brain matter towards Terrius.

The leader's legs shook in fear after seeing his men being killed one by one. He then saw Mark slicing the throat of his last remaining comrade who looked at him with despair.

"Spare me! If you spare me, brother Tiger will not hurt you guys!" he knelt down on the ground, his voice was shaking as he begged for his life.

Mark was about to kill him when Roan stopped him.

"Wait, let him talk first." Roan walked towards the guy's direction while Mark held him down.

"Speak. Who is this brother Tiger that you mentioned?" asked Roan with a cold look.

"Brother Tiger is not someone you can afford to offend. He owned an underground business before the apocalypse and he currently have more than a hundred armed men loyal only to him. Release me and I'll tell brother Tiger to not come here." he answered while looking at them with a slight smile.

"Release him." Ordered Roan with a cold look.

"Roan, are we seriously going to release this guy?" asked Karl with disappointment. Terrius and Mark were also puzzled by Roan's decision.

"Don't ever come back here." Roan said, his aura increasing every second.

Mark released his grip on the guy reluctantly as he looked at Roan with a questioning gaze.

"Good! Don't worry, I won't tell brother Tiger about you guys." He turned around and walked with a fast pace. His smiling face was now gone and was replaced by a cold smile.

'You idiots, I will go inform brother Tiger about what happened here. Let's see how are you guys going to survive his wrath' he though evilly.

"Mark, tail him. And let me know where their base is." Roan said coldly. Their scalps went numb after seeing his calm and cold look.
