The Heavenly Crystal

Chapter 22 - Blizzard

*Ding !

*Wind Wolf wishes to become your pet. Do you agree to make it your pet? Yes or No?

Roan received two prompts about the wolf wanting to become his pet and he pressed the yes button without a hint of hesitation. A brigth light came out from the wolf's head and it traveled slowly towards Roan. When the light touched his head, he felt a connection between him and the wolf. The wind wolf's animosity was completely gone as well and it was replaced with warmth.

"From now on, I will call you Blizzard." Roan thought for a moment before giving him an appropriate name. Blizzard seemed to like his new name and it licked Roans hands in delight. Roan bought several healing pills for Blizzard and himself and immediately consumed them.

'Now, how can I moved you around without any others beasts noticing our presence.' Roan thought as he looked at Blizzard's gigantic body. Blizzard gazed at Roan and understood him since their minds were now connected to each other, with a poof, Blizzard's gigantic body can no longer be seen. Roan was surprised to see that it can hide itself, but then he heard a cute barking sound from below his feet and saw a gray wolf cub rubbing its tiny head on his feet.

"So you are capable of transforming yourself eh?" Roan whispered as he picked up Blizzard who turned himself into a cute wolf cub. Blizzard snuggled his way into Roan's arms and decided to sleep. Roan smiled and walked somewhere safe to continue healing his injured body.

He decided to stay in one of the broken-down buildings and rested for the night, but he still kept his vigilance on high alert in case any beasts or undeads came in his way. But with his Danger Perception skill, he will instantly sense any threath that is around the range of his skill.

The next morning, Roan felt a soft tug on his arm. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and saw Blizzard was pulling his shirt like it wanted to show him something. Roan was confused at his actions, but then decided to play along with him. He followed the wolf cub and it brought him at one corner of the building which has a huge hole that was most likely produced by a beast's attack.

"What would you like me to see, little Blizzard?" Roan smiled as he petted the small head of the cub and carried it in his arms. Blizzard barked at him softly making him more confused, so he walked towards the hole of the building and looked outside. He was shocked at what he saw outside and hastily hid his presence. He was sweating buckets and his breathing became rapid.

Roan sneakily glanced into the distance and saw a gigantic beast that was most likely as tall as a twenty storey building. It was a tiger-like beast with two gigantic wings on its back. Its white fur was giving it a noble and fearsome appearance. The beast was casually walking in the outskirts of Death Forest and even the tall mutated trees could not hide its majestic appearance. Although the mutated trees at the border of Death Forest were shorter compared to the ones at the central part, but it was still tall enough to dwarf a pre-evolved elephant which was one of the largest creatures on Ubec before the apocalypse occured.

Roan was shock as it was the first time that he could not dicern the level of a beast. The gap between their levels might be so big for him to not be able to check its stats. Perhaps the beast was able to sense that someone was scrutinizing its majestic appearance. It glanced towards Roan's direction shortly before completely ignoring his presence and flew straight towards the inner part of Death Forest. Its huge wings produced fearsome winds that uprooted several mutated trees around it. Some weaker beasts even succ.u.mbed to the blade-like winds and had their bodies cut into several pieces. It was not even a direct attack, but it was still able to kill several beasts as it flew towards the inner part of Death Forest.

Roan who was stared by the Winged White Tiger for a moment stood rooted, his eyes were shaking slightly, and his palms which was c.a.r.e.s.sing the wolf cub was covered in cold sweat, but then someting inside his body provided him warmth which erased all of his fears unknowingly.

'Such a strong Legendary level beast lives inside the Death Forest. With my current strength, I can only travel in the outskirts even with little Blizzard traveling with me. But if my level will be high enough, then I will surely visit the central parts of the forest and maybe I can find something good inside.' Roan continued c.a.r.e.s.sing Blizzard's tiny head as he thought to himself.

He walked down the building since he was not yet capable of jumping such heights with his current condition. Outside the building, he saw several undeads which hastily dashed towards him after smelling his flesh. They were the same evolved undeads that were capable of running several times faster than their unevolved counterparts.

Roan unsheathed his Sword of Lamentation with one hand, his other hand was still holding Blizzard who glanced at the Runners mockingly before closing its eyes and it then happily snuggled in Roan's arm.

The undeads unaware of their impending doom continued to dash towards Roan. Their ugly faces were full of delight at the sight of a human snack, but when they were only a few meters away from Roan, they were engulfed by fearsome flames which incinerated their bodies within seconds.

Roan sheathed back his Sword of Lamentation and proceeded to walk towards Death Forest while stepping on the ashes of the undeads.
