Chapter 24 - Flee!

Roan saw the Fierce Boar King flinging Blizzard away like ragdoll and it made him enrage. He got up on his feet and removed himself from the tree. He launched multiple fire balls towards the beast and its face was riddled with burnt marks making it angrier than it already was.

The beast charged towards Roan while pointing its sharp horns on him aiming to pierce him like a barbecue. Roan's beautiful flaming wings appeared on his back again and he flew up in the air to avoid its attack. Although he can use this tactic to escape from the beast, but he was not sure for how long he can cast the flaming wings. And as enraged as the Fierce Boar King, it will surely follow them crazily. Aside from the boar's threat, other strong beasts might take a fancy of him if they saw him flying.

Roan conjured ice spears and flaming spears and threw it towards the beast's onyx eyes with full strength. The beast hastily closed its eyes and moved its head away. The fire and ice spears penetrated deeply on the beast's head damaging it severely. It thrusted the surrounding trees while shaking its huge head in pain.

Roan flew down with great speed and pointed his Sword of Lamentation on the closed eyes of the beast. The beast who was occupied by the pain was unaware of all this and received the full brunt of Roan's sword thrust. It roared loudly in pain while rampaging everything on its way, destroying more mutated trees around it. Roan held his sword that pierced the beast's eyes tightly and produced raging flames hurting the beast even more. It's other eye was lit ablaze by Roan's smoldering hot flames.

He pulled his Sword of Lamentation and slashed several times of what remained on its cooked eyeball.

The beast howled in pain loudly and collapsed on the ground with a loud thud. As Roan was about to give it another slash, the Fierce Boar King emitted a loud cry which greatly startled him. The ground trembled following the beast's cry, and several huge silhouettes can be seen moving towards their direction.

[Scaled Boar.....]

The huge silhouettes were actually the Fierce Boar King's allies and there were more than a dozen of them. It looks like Boar King was the overlord of this part of the forest since it had several strong Scaled Boat Warriors under its command.

The Scaled Boar Warrior seeing that their leader was suffering at the hands of Roan grew enrage and charged at him with greater strength.

'Shit! I'm done for.' he thought as he looked at the beasts rushing towards him crazily.

He hastily flew and flashed towards where Blizzard was thrown away. Blizzard already saw the situation and it understood that Roan wants them to escape. It transformed into a small wolf cub and jumped into Roan's arms who caught him instantly.

Roan flew in low altitude so that no other beasts will be able to see him, although it was a bit troublesome evading the tall trees, it was the only thing he can do to avoid more danger. His flaming wings flapped madly and they disappeared on the sight of the Scaled Boar Warriors who were furiously following them.

The Fierce Boar King who lost its one eye roared angrily as it lost the sight of that wretched human. Its face was bleeding severely from all the attacks making it look more scary. It roared loudly one last time on the last direction where it saw Roan before it walked away with its little brothers angrily.

Roan was now inside a cave which was about five meters wide. He sighed in relief and he struggled to catch his breath as he held his c.h.e.s.t tightly with one hand. He placed Blizzard on the ground gently before sitting on a cold stone.

'Shit! I almost got killed by those pigs!' he thought angrily. Blizzard looked at him worriedly and rubbed his tiny head on Roan's feet. Roan petted his small head and smiled after releasing another huge sigh of relief.

He looked at the inner parts of the cave which was as dark as the night warily. He bought a torch in the Store and went deeper with Blizzard trailing behind him. The cave appeared to be uninhabited, but Roan wanted to make sure that there were no dangers inside.

He placed torches at the sides of the cave from time to time to have a temporary light. He dim light produced by the torches provided Roan a much clearer view inside the cave. He saw strange plants growing inside, it even bore several wicked-looking fruits. He knelt down and studied the plants in great detail but learned nothing about them. He was not a master in botany, but he knew that plants needed sunlight to grow and this strange plant even bore fruit even with the absence of light.

He held himself back from eating the plant as it might be poisonous. He stood up and continued walking forward while disregarding the strange plants inside the cave. After walking for several minutes, he finally reached the end of the cave. He sighed in relief after seeing nothing inside and bought a small bed in the Store. He placed the bed in one corner of the cave, he decided to make this cave their temporary home.

After escaping from the Fierce Boar King and his little brothers, Roan unknowingly entered the inner parts of Death Forest, so a safe place to rest is very much needed.

He went outside the cave and covered the entrance with thick vines to prevent other beasts from seeing it. Although the cave was in a fairly well hidden location, but Roan preferred it to be much safer. He then went back inside the cave to heal his wounds.
