The Hunter Academy

Chapter 19 - Misterious girl

Atalanta and the class D students were on their way to the dormitories.

"Miss Atalanta, why have you bet all our resources on this Hunter Duel?" A student asked Atalanta.

"It is true, it is impossible for 3 students from class D to beat 3 students from class B with just 45 days of training" Another student complemented the previous one.

And there was something else they wanted to say but they didn't dare do it, Ryan was too weak.

Atalanta stopped and looked all her students. She frowned when she saw that, apart from Sahazel, Setanta, Ryan and surprisingly Austin, all the students had dubious and some even depressed looks.

"If we don't win, I will pay for your resources myself."

Atalanta turned around again and continued on his way.

The students sighed in relief that they would not lose their precious resources. Fleur's worried look was also changed to a relief look, she was the one who most valued the resources of all class D so it would be a great loss for her if those resources went into the hands of class B.

......…

"A duel of equals against class B students, it seems interesting so I guess I'll go see the duel."

It's been a day since the conflict between Ryan and Andy. Sahazel, Setanta and Fleur were having their daily monster flesh in the Hunter Restaurant and Laura was accompanying them as they ate.

"Don't come, they're just going to get beaten up," Fleur said in a cold tone.

"Don't underestimate us kiddo, maybe we'll have a surprise" Setanta chuckled.

Fleur felt weird being called a kiddo by Setanta, but for some reason she felt it was natural to be called a kiddo by him. She didn't think about it too much and focused her attention on Sahazel.

"Class B hasn't won yet" It was the first time Sahazel had said anything since he had entered the Hunter cafeteria.

Fleur frowned when he heard Sahazel's words and Laura smiled wryly.

(He has no shame, how can he say something like that and not be ashamed?) Laura thought.

"Now that I think about it, you may have some chance of winning this duel." Laura's words caught Fleur's attention.

"How?"

"If I'm not mistaken, this week you have "vacations" because they give you time to adapt, the following week you will start the real classes".

"The first official class together with the tutor is about weapons, when you choose the weapon you will also choose your future path as Hunter. In the following days you will have your first practical classes with your weapons".

"And how will that help them win the duel?" asked Fleur curiously.

"After a week of training, the entrance to the dark forest will be open to newbiess. Inside the dark forest you can kill monsters and level up," Laura explained to Fleur.

"Isn't that the same for class B? I don't see where is the advantage here" Fleur was still skeptical, wouldn't they go up to level 3 in those 30 days?

"Yes and no. That is to say, they can enter the dark forest but it is impossible for them to go to the peak of level 2 and go up to level 3 in just 30 days".

"Why?" she asked confusedly.

"There are some levels that you can't climb by killing monsters or eating their flesh, you need to have an understanding of certain aspects of your body in order to advance to those levels," Sahazel explained to Fleur.

"Once you reach the peak of level 2 and enter the bottleneck, you can find out what your dominant attribute is," Sahazel continued. "In order to move to level 3 you have to learn to control that attribute, no one knows why but the body puts a block that does not allow you to absorb more energy from monsters until you can not use your attribute.

Fleur was stunned to hear this information, she was from a poor family so it was impossible to learn this information as it was considered classified information.

"There is still a chance that they will advance to level 3" Fleur continued to insist on the subject.

"If they could reach level 3 in those 30 days then they should have entered class A instead of class B."

"Even if they don't get to level 3, you'll at best get to low level 2 and you'll be a long way from their peak level 2."

"They are spoiled heirs, that gap can be easily opened with differences in our real abilities" Setanta shrugged.

Let's not mention low level 2, Setanta believed that even with low level 1 he could end up with 100 of those spoiled heirs and with his eyes closed.

"Sigh" Fleur sighed, she wanted to make these two idiots surrender so she could avoid a brutal beating.

Fleur was sure that it was impossible for class D to beat class B no matter how genius Sahazel and Setanta might be. She thought that if this duel had been scheduled for the last trimester or even the second trimester then Sahazel, Setanta and even Ryan could have beaten the class B students.

They finished eating and said goodbye to Laura. The atmosphere on the way back to the dorms carried an uncomfortable silence.

Or so Fleur thought. Setanta had his hands on the back of his neck as he whistled and Sahazel was distracted as he yawned from time to time.

The two boys accompanied Fleur into the girls' bedroom. When she turned around before entering and looked at the two idiots who had accompanied her.

"Are you really going to fight the class B students?" she asked in a cold voice, although there were traces of concern in her.

"Sure, why not?"

"I can't wait for the day to come."

Setanta was obviously excited to be able to fight while Sahazel had the same boring face as always. Fleur shook exasperated her head.

(Who told me to make friends with these two idiots?)

Obviously nobody.

Sahazel and Setanta walked quietly to the class D bedroom. Sahazel then stopped and looked in the direction of a traditional wooden house, the word "Dojo" was written on a board above the door.

"Go back to the room without me, I'll be back in a while." Sahazel spoke with a serious tone on his voice.

Setanta nodded and walked on without saying a word. He was accustomed to Sahazel's personality and knew that the best option he could take was to follow his orders when he speaks with that tone, if he did not follow them he would have to prepare for the consequences.

Sahazel entered the wooden building. He saw a girl dressed in a blue Keikogi and Hakama, she was currently practicing with a wooden sword.

She seemed to have felt Sahazel as she stopped practicing and looked in his direction. She stared at Sahazel and said nothing, Sahazel keep quite for a while but began to feel uncomfortable under her gaze. She wore the mask they wear in Kendo combats so he could only see her black eyes.

"I thought we couldn't use specific training buildings," Sahazel said.

The girl seemed to have remembered something, she took off her mask/helmet and left in sight a beautiful face that matched that of Fleur or Long Xiu in terms of beauty, she had black hair collected in a ponytail tied with a blue ribbon.

She bowed and apologized to Sahazel.

"I´m sorry" A sweet voice reached Sahazel's ears.

"Eh?" He looked at the girl in confusion.

(Why does she apologize?)
