The Imposter Princess

Chapter 12 - Shopping Spree

First things, first. Yin XinYi had to get rid of her phone. She didn't want anyone from Country 86 to call her nor did she know who had access to her phone.

Yin XinYi had Thomas drive her to a famous technology brand's store. They were famous due to their security. Yin XinYi walked in and bought the newest phone model and the newest computer model. If she was going to replace her phone, might as well replace everything. She would pawn off her phone and computer later.

Then, XinYi went into a cellular service company. She received a new number for her new phone and closed the old number on her old phone.

Finally, she had Thomas drive her to Beacon, one of the most exclusive malls. She instructed Thomas to wait for her before walking in.

The mall was extremely large, housing more than a hundred stores. They were all high-end stores with prices reaching more than many people's yearly salary.

As with most services catering to the wealthy. They had a membership program. It had benefits such as attendants and free shipping. However, it had to be offered by a store manager.

Yin XinYi started to shop. In her first store, she was immediately offered a membership to Beacon mall. Of course, Yin XinYi agreed.

It wasn't shocking to XinYi. Based on the amount of money she was spending and the fact that she had a silver card, was enough for them to offer her a membership.

Yin XinYi was rather happy to spend money. She loved money but also the lifestyle that money bought with it. After all, she could easily make back the money she lost. One had to lose money to make money.

Yin XinYi entered a store. It looked rather simple but the prices were more exorbitant than most stores in the mall. Like in most stores, an attendant came up to her.

"Hello! Welcome to LF! How may I assist you today?"

"Hello. I'm browsing around for now."

The attendant nodded and stood a little away from Yin XinYi giving her space. The attendant wasn't very far, allowing her to come to Yin XinYi at a moment's notice.

Yin XinYi continued to look. She grabbed a few clothes, passing it on to her attendant. A dress soon caught her eye. It was white with simple ruffles. The materials shimmered under the light. Yin XinYi really liked it. She reached out to grab it. At the same time another hand also grabbed it.

The dress's hanger was held by two hands, each belonging to a different person. Yin XinYi looked at the young woman holding the dress with her. The woman was about XinYi's age, in her early twenties. She was brunette and taller than Yin XinYi. Her brows were furrowed in disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, starting at Yin XinYi.

The brunette opened her mouth and hauntily said "I grabbed the dress first. Let go."

Yin XinYi was unhappy hearing that. It reminded her of her past, where she was forced to concede to everyone.

Three years ago, in Country 86:

Yin XinYi was shopping for clothes. She was alone since her sister had other plans. In the mall, she had coincidentally met up with her maternal aunt and cousin.

Aunt Bai and her daughter, Bai Rui had happened to see Yin XinYi.

"XinYi? Is that you?" Aunt Bai asked.

Internally sighing in her head, Yin XinYi walked over to them. "It's nice to see you, Aunt Bai and Bai Rui."

"Ah. Are you shopping too? Let's accompany each other!"

Putting a faint smile on her face, she nodded. Yin XinYi was very confused as to why they wanted to shop with her. They despised her after all. She wasn't a real Yin. She assumed that they had a motive.

Soon, they entered a dress shop. They looked around. Yin XinYi found a dress she liked and picked it up. Immediately, it was snatched out of her hands.

"Ah! Sister XinYi! How sweet of you! I can't believe you picked this dress for me!" Bai Rui said loudly, attracting the attention of the people in the store. She paused, "Unless, this dress isn't for me? Oh I'm sorry Sister XinYi!" She held out the dress to Yin XinYi, looking pitiful.

Aunt Bai came over and praised her daughter, "How sweet of you, Rui. You're so kind to give Yin XinYi that dress."

The people in the store were eavesdropping. Some subtly, some not. Hearing what Aunt Bai and Bai Rui said, the socialites felt as if Yin XinYi was selfish. Of course, it was also because they disliked Yin XinYi. She was adopted yet had such good treatment from the Yin family. They didn't like XinYi due to their jealousy.

Yin XinYi knew that this small argument would ruin her reputation and the Yin family would be affected. The Bai family really disliked her for the sole reason that she was not a real Yin.

Inwardly, Yin XinYi sneered at their pathetic acting. Anyone could tell the true thoughts of Aunt Bai and Bai Rui but no one would say a thing in XinYi's defense.

Yin XinYi could not make a single mistake in defusing the situation. Many people were waiting for a chance to bring her down.

Yin XinYi faintly smiled, "Sister Rui, you are mistaken. I don't want that dress. I was only interested since it reminded me of this old dress I had owned. I had long since thrown that dress away since I disliked it. This dress just reminded me of it. If you like this dress than you can have it."

Everyone could hear the underlying meaning. Yin XinYi was telling Bai Rui that if she wanted XinYi's leftovers, she could have them.

No one wanted to be someone else's shadow. Everyone wants to be in the spotlight, especially socialites. They wanted to be the trendsetters, not the followers.

Bai Rui could only force a smile and say, "No it's quite alright. Since Sister XinYi doesn't like this dress, it probably wouldn't look good on me."

Yin XinYi replied, "How can that be? You look good in anything, Rui, even a dress that I can't."

Bai Rui was unhappy but she continued to put on an act. Bai Rui laughed, "Thank you! However, since we got a dress for me, let's find a dress for you, Sister XinYi."

Bai Rui could only divert the topic. Yin XinYi was rather unhappy that she couldn't just snatch the dress back but felt a lot better in making the Bai family uncomfortable.

Although she would have loved to cause more trouble, her relationsh.i.p.s and reputation hindered her. She hated that lack of freedom and power. However, she loved her family too much and couldn't bear to cause trouble for them. It was better to swallow her grievances.
