The Imposter Princess

Chapter 13 - A Dress

Yin XinYi really wanted to tell this woman in front of her off. The thought immediately evaporated after XinYi saw the attendant standing behind the brunette. The look in the attendant's eyes pleaded with XinYi to not fight against the brunette.

Yin XinYi realized that the brunette in front of her was someone who would do anything to get her way. The store attendants probably know that fact from previous encounters. Yin XinYi internally sighed. She had made a decision.

Softly smiling at the brunette, XinYi released her hand from the dress. "Here you go. I won't argue over it."

Yin XinYi swept her eyes across the store. The store manager was standing next to the cash register. The two made eye contact but the store manager quickly looked away out of guilt. Yin XinYi didn't blame her for the result of what had occurred.

Yin XinYi continued to shop in the store as if nothing happened. Yin XinYi trailed her hand across the clothing on the racks. Soon, another dress caught her sight. Grabbing the hanger, she pulled it out.

Yin XinYi gave a sharp intake. The dress was stunning. It was a black maxi dress, with holographic sparkles that reminded Yin XinYi of stars. Looking closer at the dress, the color wasn't black, but instead, it was midnight blue. The sparkles that caught the light whenever the dress moved made the dress seem alive.

Yin XinYi was extremely satisfied with the dress. Suddenly, she heard the sound of heels walking on the store floor towards her. Yin XinYi turned around. The brunette was walking over to Yin XinYi.

"I want that dress," she declared, staring intently at the dress in XinYi's hand.

Yin XinYi was confused. Was this woman talking to her? Yin XinYi resisted the urge to turn around and look behind herself for someone else.

"Are you deaf? I'm talking to you. I want that dress," repeated the brunette.

Yin XinYi resisted rolling her eyes at the stupidity of the brunette.

Yin XinYi was a very cautious person. Before Yin XinYi had come to Beacon Mall, she had done her research on the place. Beacon Mall had a set of rules which guaranteed a quality shopping experience for all. If broken by a person, that person would be blacklisted from Beacon. Many stores in Beacon would follow in blacklist that person. If a store broke a rule, then it would be blacklisted from Beacon and many other malls would follow in blacklisting the store. That was the power of influence that Beacon had.

The rules were the primary reason as to why Yin XinYi had chosen Beacon mall over other luxury malls. When the brunette had taken the white dress from Yin XinYi, and the store hadn't intervened, the store had broken a rule. However, Yin XinYi didn't call out the store since it was very hard to prove who had gotten it first, even with the security cameras.

However, this time, clearly, Yin XinYi had gotten the dress first. This time, she wasn't about to take the loss.

"Apologies. I got to it first and I do wish to acquire this dress."

The brunette frowned at the response. "I'll pay triple the price."

"Money is not of importance. It's the principle," Yin XinYi replied. Does the brunette not know the rules of Beacon?

"Principles can be bended. How much do you want?"

Feeling insulted, Yin XinYi struggled to calmly say, "Miss, I am not lacking in money."

"Everything can be bought."

Spoken like a true spoiled princess. Clearly, she has not experienced the world yet. Yin XinYi was getting irritated speaking to an idiot, however, she retained her poker face not letting any emotions show.

Yin XinYi proceeded to reason with the brunette calmly. "Somethings are priceless."

The brunette arched her eyebrow and looked at Yin XinYi as if she was stupid. Feeling her patience run thin, Yin XinYi tried to walk pass the brunette.

Noticing the young woman with straight black hair trying to get away, the brunette's face darkened as she stood in front of the black haired lady's way.

Yin XinYi endured the urge to shove the brunette out of her path because Yin XinYi knew that as soon as she uses violence, she would have lost the battle. Continuing with her facade, XinYi politely said, "Miss, please move. I'll like to pay for my dress."

Still exasperated with the response, the brunette switched her tactic. Staring down at the black haired beauty, the brunette narrowed her eyes and threatened, "I'll make this simpler. Give me the dress, or you may find yourself having quite a few issues in your life."

Yin XinYi scoffed inwardly. Due to whose power? Your family's or yours? Yin XinYi was not fond of people who relied on other's power to oppress others. Even when she was being persecuted, she never retaliated using the Yin name.

Suddenly, a voice echoed through the store. "Ana Williams. Using your father's power to bully someone to get your way again, huh?" With the voice came a young woman with wavy, platinum blond hair. She leisurely strolled in the store.

Due to the volume of her voice, everyone in the store turned to look at the blond girl. Ana Williams seemed to recognize the young lady as she scowled. "Lyra Owens. Stay out of my business," she called out as she marched towards Lyra.

Yin XinYi noticed that the brunette named Ana Williams was going to be rather occupied. Not letting the opportunity get away from her, Yin XinYi walked to the cashier to pay for her dress and her other articles of clothing.

The cashier glanced at the clothing that Yin XinYi had put on the counter and looked towards the store manager in panic. The manager widened her eyes and glanced at where Ana Williams and Lyra Owens were arguing before looking back at Yin XinYi.

When Yin XinYi and the store manager made eye contact, the manager felt a chill go down her back. In fear, the manager hurriedly lowered her head and rushed to the cash register. She lightly pushed away the original cashier to the side and started to scan Yin XinYi's clothing.

At the same time, the blond and brunette were getting to a heated argument.

"Ana Williams, using your family's power to bully someone again? You know the rules of Beacon, first come first serve. That young lady clearly got it before you. You going to threaten her because you couldn't get what you want? How pathetic."

"Lyra Owens. Always in someone's business. Were you bored due to your lack of friends? Or maybe, because your family business is a little too smooth sailing? Maybe I should mess it up a bit!" retorted Ana.

Yin XinYi paid for her clothing and like with all her previous purchases at Beacon, requested them to be shipped to her later. As Yin XinYi walked out, she caught the eye of Lyra Owens. Yin XinYi gave a curt nod before walking away.

Lyra wanted to laugh. There was finally someone who stood up to Ana, the spoiled brat. Lyra admired the black haired beauty for her courage.

Not noticing the exchange, Ana continued to talk. "Listen, Lyra. I don't have time for you. I'm going to get that dress no matter what!" Ana spun around looking for the black haired lady. Her face contorted when she noticed that XinYi was gone. Ana barked, "Where is she?"

Submitting to her urge, Lyra's soft laughter rang throughout the store. She informed Ana, "The young lady left quite a while ago!"

Feeling humiliated, Ana glared at Lyra before hurriedly leaving the store.

By this time, Yin XinYi was already in her car. There was no point in trying to find her. Of course, it was easy to find her if Ana had searched the security footage but why go through so much when her father could get her an even better dress? However, Ana remembered the grudge between Yin XinYi and herself.
