The Imposter Princess

Chapter 7 - Terms

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Yin XinYi's alarm woke her up. It was 8 am in the morning. Groaning, she got out of bed. She had no idea when Yin Hai's lawyer was going to come so she got up early just in case. Yin XinYi quickly busied herself. She brushed her teeth and put on an outfit that made her feel confident. It was a very simple white blouse with jeans and flats.

She promised herself to not show any weakness in front of the lawyer. She was going to remain calm and not let her emotions affect her decisions. After the signing, the Yin family was going to be out of her life. Yin XinYi was trying her hardest to convince herself that separating from them was for the best.

Yin XinYi decided not to get breakfast yet. She had no idea when the lawyer was going to come. She didn't want to make the lawyer wait. XinYi wanted to get it over with. Luckily, she had a few snacks in her luggage that she bought from the airport.

Yin XinYi finally had time to look around her room. The night before, she was so tired and drained emotionally, that she had no motivation to explore.

Grabbing a granola bar from her bag, she walked around her suite. It was split into a few sections. A master bedroom, a dining room, kitchen, and a living room area. It gave a beautiful view of the city with a floor to ceiling windows. Everything was fully clean and furnished.

In the master bedroom, there was a walk in closet. It was currently empty since Yin XinYi hadn't unpacked her luggage yet.

Right outside the bedroom, was the bathroom. It was very minimalistic but had lots of mirrors. Yin XinYi turned to look at herself in the mirror. A beautiful young woman with long black hair and sharp eyes looked back at her. Contorting her face, she continued to stare at the mirror until there was no expression upon her face.

Walking out of the bathroom, she threw away the empty wrapper of her granola bar into the garbage can. She sat in the living room and waited.

•••

Around 10 am, there was a knock on the door. Standing up and taking a deep breathe, she forced herself to remain calm, reminding herself not to let her emotions choose for her. No one would have thought that last night she was the one having a mental breakdown.

Yin XinYi opened the door. It was a middle aged man with a briefcase in his hand. He was dressed in a suit and had a serious look upon his face.

"Miss Yin XinYi?" he asked as soon as he saw her.

"Yes. You must be the lawyer of Yin Hai?" she replied. It felt very strange to her to call her ex-father by his name but it wasn't appropriate to call him father anymore.

"Yes ma'am. I am Lawyer Smith. May I come in?"

Nodding, Yin XinYi guided him in. They sat in the dining area. He grabbed out a folder from his briefcase and opened it. In the folder was a stack of papers. He handed it to her.

"Here is the terms of the contract that Mr. Yin Hai wishes you to sign. Feel free to take some time to read over it."

Yin XinYi started to read over the contract. The terms demanded that in exchange for ten million dollars in Country 1's currency and a green card, Yin XinYi will be removed from any relation to any member of the Yin family. She will be allowed to keep her surname however, she can not claim that she is part of the Yin family or use their name and status as a back door. Yin XinYi will have no claim to any property of the Yins and the Yins will have no claim to any property under her name. Any actions of Yin XinYi does not reflect the Yin family and the Yin family will have no claim to her. The Yin family will not demand any compensation or press any charges provided as Yin XinYi separates from the Yin family. The Yin family has no relation in any way, shape, or form to Yin XinYi.

Overall, the terms were very satisfactory to XinYi. It effectively separated her and the Yin family. After she signs it, they will become strangers.

She looked at Lawyer Smith. "The Yin family has no claim to my property or any relation to me after I sign this contract, correct? Even if I die or become the ric.h.e.s.t person in the world, they will have no connection to me right?"

"Correct. You will have no relation to them and they have no relation to you. They have claim to nothing of yours and you to nothing of theirs. The ten million dollars will be your forwarded to your bank account after I inform Mr. Yin Hai that you signed the contract. I will also give you the green card. The contract shall be signed electronically," he replied as he pulled out a tablet and her green card.

Yin XinYi requested for an electronic copy to be sent to her. The lawyer agreed and Yin XinYi signed the contract. He gave Yin XinYi the new identification card and packed up. Right after, her phone vibrated informing her that the contract was emailed. She skimmed over it making sure that no terms were changed and saved it. Then, she sent Lawyer Smith off.
