The Kings

3 Ice Cream Date

"Get up aunty." A softer voice whispered while holding onto my fingers.

I groaned loudly letting them know I was displeased with them for disturbing my sleep. I knew who these voices belonged to, and I will always welcome the presence of both of them. But wasn't it rather early to have them visiting me at this hour?

I opened my eyes to see my five-year-old nephew Xue and Xun laying down next to me. They were both identical, except that Xun had a mole on his left ear and Xue had it on the right ear. Their cheeks looked like someone had stuffed two peaches in their mouth and left it there. It screamed adorable at me! They were making me wanting to kiss their cheeks without stopping.

Meanwhile, Xun was always energetic while Xue was quiet and shy. It made Xue look like he was the oldest, but Xun was born five minutes and twenty-six second ahead. I gave props to my sister-in-law for giving birth again within a five-minute timeframe. Plus, I was thankful for her giving birth to two smart and adorable babies.

To tease them, I threw my arms around both of them and trapped them next to me, "Where is your dad?"

"Work." Xue and Xun answered in unison then giggled at each other.

I sat up in my bed and was greatly doubting their "honest" answer. My brother was probably having a date with his lovely wife and wanted to be left alone. Purposely dropping off the twins super early in the morning for me so they can have the whole day.

"Daddy said that we should spend our whole day with you before your school reunion," said Xue, but not before giving me a good morning kiss on the cheek and snuggling in bed with me.

Oh, goodness! I almost forgot today was my high school reunion. My school class president loves to host one every year, but this will be the first time in seven years that I'll be attending. Hugging the twins even tighter, after realizing that my older brother sent his kids so that I can cheer up.

I was dragging the thought of going to the high school reunion. My experience wasn't the best especially going to a prestige high school for rich kids when I was a "commoner." However, I needed to go tonight to the reunion.

"Amelia, take them downstairs," I called out to Amelia who was right outside my bedroom door.

"Yes, my lady," Amelia replied, taking the twins downstairs to have breakfast first.

I got out of bed to take a shower, and then put on a mid-length white lace dress and wore peach-colored ballerina flats. It was an ideal match in combination with the dress. To top it off, I put my hair in a messy hair bun with a jeweled peach flower hair pin.

"At eight o'clock this morning, Zha Chen was found shot dead in an alleyway. We are currently unsure what is the real cause behind this terrible action. The only thing discovered next to his body was the letter 'K' spelled out with cigarettes. So far the only connection with the "K" is directing us to the mafia group who had silently disappeared years ago, The Kings."

The news anchor continued to report back all the information they knew on the Zha Chen. He was known as a heavy gambler in that area and that maybe he owed someone money. So far the "K" was an assumption with The Kings, but at this time it was not currently confirmed if it was their doing. Unfortunately, that was all the information they had on the man.

It was reported to the public, but it'll go as a cold case. Zha Chen was from a bad part of town and with a gambling background. No one would look further into this issue.

My concentration was completely focused on the picture of the man who was shot dead as shown on the TV.

"Aunty?"

Xun's voice brought my conscious back to reality. The twins stared at me with a confused expression and slightly frightened. Ahem, I coughed a few times and put a smile back on my face. I probably had a scary face earlier, frightening my troublemakers. I sighed, I need to learn how to control my emotions better.

After seeing what was on the news today, I didn't have the mood to go out and have fun anymore. I took the twins by their hands and walked back to where I had parked my car. Quickly, I seat belted the twins before driving back to my house.

Nearby, a fancy car stopped in the middle of the street.

"Young master?"

Mu Yi shook his head, "Go."

"Yes, sir." The driver took off on the road again, but he was confused about why his master wanted to stop in the middle of the street. There wasn't anything interesting going on.
