The Last Abyssal, Tyrannical Pet

Chapter 76 - Exploring the Forest, Wolf Territory

Both of the girls were currently asleep. He was awake.

Lately, he had been itching to stretch his muscles, at least for some exercise. He barely left the house recently. This made him irritated.

He wished to move his body freely, and explore to his hearts content. This was his innate feelings as a wanderer as well as a free spirited tyrant that would not be shackled by person not object.

He was actually fine making their home his den, but he didn't like the monotony of staying. He required frequent outings and the chance to hunt. As an apex predator, he was uncomfortable just sitting around. The trips to school were no longer enough for him.

He left the house quietly, the first thing he did, was enter the forest. He wished to hunt something before he forgot how. He dared not let himself be slack in his instincts.

The night was his element. He was like a fish in water as he swam through the soft grass and the low hanging trees. There was some sound in his movement, as he wasn't used to moving through vegetation, but the sound was slowly vanishing, as he adapted swiftly.

It wasn't long before he found something. A quadrupedal beast with hooves. It was another mysterious being without claws or fangs, and only capable of fleeing. He knew it was called a deer from the books he read.

The hunt was simple. Something so weak couldn't possibly sense his presence, no matter how wary it was.

He hunted and ate it clean, bones and all. The taste of something he killed was always different from the human's cooking. Though it was delicious, eating raw meat was what he was used to, leaving him more at ease.

He decided to explore the forest, so he can make a mental map as a contingency plan. This is in case of the possibility of having to flee from the human's society. It was always best to have a back up plan.

He moved through the forest carefully, low to the ground to avoid the attention of anything strong.

Eventually he learned that this forest was separated into territories. How many though, it was impossible to tell, as the forest was too vast.

He realized this through the markings and scents of high level spirit beasts.

So far he had found the territory of a golden deer, a large blue bear, and an obsidian black panther.

The golden deer's territory was the one closest to the Chen sisters' house, with the other along their border. He did not provoke any of them, as he was unsure of their strength.

He was unconsciously moving toward the bear-like mountain. Eventually he found markings that he recognized, wolf markings.

He knew he'd eventually come across this as he moved closer to the mountains, as it was where he came from, as well as where he was beaten and poisoned to the point of fortunately falling into a river, and drifting miles down to human civilization, where he was bound to a human.

He decided to get a look at the wolf pack. He intended to prepare for revenge, as he was definitely a beast that held a grudge. He would absolutely kill that silver wolf someday!

It it was not simple. They lived in a pack, a pack with many wolves. Their security would not be simple. He had to make ample preparations to avenge himself. He would memorize the terrain, learn their hierarchy, as well as their patrols.

It was only with measures like this that one can safely plan an assassination, though whether or not he would slaughter their entire pack, depended on the strength of their leader, as well as if they hold a grudge.

He put that aside for now and moved through the wolf territory silently. He met several patrols made of three wolves, scouts. This meant he was already inside their hunting grounds.

The scouts gradually appeared more and more frequently, and he eventually met a pack of seven, with a white wolf leading them.

This one must be a rank higher than the scouts. He was now in the inner parts of the territory. Previously, he would only move in the border regions, to avoid provoking any strong powers, but now he had delved this deep into the wolves territory, he was making a big risk here. Though he didn't care for provoking the lord of his territory as he would definitely offend him anyway when he killed that silver wolf.

The number of white wolves grew higher by the second, he had no choice but to be extra wary.

Should he turn back? Nonsense, he never regretted anything he did, and he could escape at anytime, as long as he could fly, that is. Previously his wings were too weak to even lift him, but now he could definitely fly away, as long as his wigs weren't wounded that is.

Before he knew it, he had reached their dens. There was a number of cliff sides with many holes in them. They were obviously where the wolves returned to. He was rather curious on how he had yet to encounter the silver wolf yet, or even a silver wolf, assuming there's more than one. The only new ones were a number of black wolves that seemed a rank higher than the white ones.

This could only mean that the silver wolf was of an even higher status, which was odd considering a black wolf was definitely stronger than the silver wolf he fought before, yet the silver wolf was weaker and had a bigger pack with it. This means that the silver wolf must be a descendant of the pack leader, or the pack leader's heir. He was unsure of how their system worked though.

Sure enough, he finally saw it. A huge silver wolf with a crescent mark on its forehead standing at the top of a cliff looking down upon its pack. By its side was the one he was looking for...
