The Little Calamity

His declaration of love didn't work, it only caused her to look at him with ridicule.

" You love me? I hate you! If you want to do me a favor then die for me!"

If Rayne wanted to he could easily run away, it would be even more easy to kill her. He could also break her limbs and keep her for himself but he didn't want to hurt her.

' Kill her already! If you don't she will come back with more people, you saw those people letting someone live out of goodwill only to be swarmed by a huge group led by the very man he let go.'

At this point he was already numb with his instinct, tears filled his eyes yet even if he couldn't see she would never be able to hurt him if he didn't want to.

" Arisa, I am ready to do anything to get your forgiveness. I can spend my entire life as your servant if you want to."

All of the negative emotions were completely new for him, he did feel despair before but it was completely different this time. He had no idea what he should do with those feelings and the only thing his mind was telling him was to kill her.

" Then cut off your right arm now and I might think about it."

He didn't even need to think about it, he chopped his right arm with his left hand, leaving a deep wound. The pain was intense but he didn't flinch.

' My defense is too high.'

He had to use a second attack to cut it off.

" Can you forgive me? As long as it's not my life I will give you anything. I just want to see you smile again."

He was hoping that she would calm down but her assault still continued.

" Smile again?! How can I smile with my lover dead? Do you not feel remorse."

" I don't, I simply killed someone that wanted to kill me."

He couldn't lie to her so he simply told the truth. Even if he could go back in time he would still kill him, anyone that wanted to kill him needed to die for his own survival.

' Anyone but Arisa..'

He could feel an overwhelming killing intent coming from her. The pain from his missing arm also agitated his mind. He was usually always calm but now he was a complete mess.

" If you cut one of your leg your pain might make me smile."

He wasn't dumb, he knew that she was simply trying to weaken him in hope that he would die but he still decided to do it. His leg was even harder to cut, it took him three attacks to remove it. Although it was painful seeing Arisa in such a state hurt him much more.

He was desperately trying to think of a way to sooth her but he didn't have any experience in communication. In the end he could only continue to evade her attacks with a single leg.

" Why won't you die!? Why can't I hit you!?"

Her rage slowly became sadness and desperation. She started crying at her own inability to take revenge for her lover.

' It's none of your business, all the kindness that she showed you was all a lie. You already gave her an arm and a leg, just leave her or you will die.'

He evaded another swing, although he was losing a lot of blood he was still quite agile but he suddenly jumped forward, unable to endure it anymore.

Her blade pierced his heart as he hugged her.

" If my life cause you pain then I will give it to you. Although it was all a lie the happiness that you gave me was the only good thing in my life, I hope I can repay you this way."

He was doing his best to feel her warmth but his body was too cold to feel anything. He took one last look at her face, even if she was ugly for him she was still the most beautiful woman in the world. He though she would be angry or happy but only shock was present.

He barely saw the sky form words.

*" You passed the last trial: Self-sacrifice"*

Rayne woke up from the trial, his face stained with tears. It was so real that even after knowing what happened he couldn't stop crying. He took a deep breath, it was the first time in his life he felt like he wasn't in control of himself, still he was happy to know that even in a situation like this he wouldn't let go of Arisa.

*Rumble*

Not even giving him the time to come back to normal the sky turned dark again however this time the world seemed different. He could feel the various elements in the air and see their concentration instead of simply being able to see the energy inside of things.

It was like the world gained different colors, he also felt something in his c.h.e.s.t that resonated with the elements.

' So this is ki huh?'

He tried to absorb the energy around him as if the threatening clouds weren't there, he immediately understood what he had to do. Due to his heavenly tribulation the air was full of lightning ki but he managed to purify it into real ki by slowly filtering it through his acupuncture points.

' I see, the soul is part of the body then if you connect both while absorbing ki..'

He followed his instinct as he created a link inside of his body, he made multiple path from his head towards every part of his body, creating a complex maze that was a little like veins. Just as he expected he was able to connect both together before linking them to his dantian.

Once this was done he started absorbing the surrounding lightning ki like crazy before purifying it then sending it through his cultivation path. He could feel his body getting stronger each second without barely any effort.

The first lightning bolt hit him, this time he didn't completely block, instead he guided it inside of his body through the start of his purifying path.

' By abusing the lightning's speed I can make this process a few time faster, I see.'

The usually frightening heavenly tribulation ended up being a toy in Rayne's end. Luther looked at him, this time he didn't hesitate to move Arisa away, he could see that this was a corrupted tribulation. It was part of the high heavenly tribulations and a strong one at that, even if Rayne wanted to protect her he wouldn't be able to. He walked toward Arisa only to see her tear-filled face.

It was enough to wet her shirt yet she could somehow smile, she looked completely love struck as she watched Rayne.

' What did you see in his trial?'

" Arisa you need to get away from here."

He took her by the wrist however she glared at him with intense eyes.

" If he can't endure it I want to be there for him."

She had no idea what happened in the real world but she was ready to die with him. If someone tried to stop a heavenly tribulation the lightning would physically assault them and in addition it would trigger a second heavenly tribulation on the person, meaning that death was the only outcome for both party. Even while knowing that she stubbornly didn't move.

' Sigh, my little girl was stolen by a monster. Still, as a father I won't let you do as you please.'
