David and Lilith were led around the arena, moving towards the west part of the volcano where an elevator was placed. It was also this single elevator that led out of the volcano. They were both shuffled into the elevator as it began its descent into the arena. It did not take long for the elevator to reach to floor of the volcano, though David took notice of a few things. The elevator unlike every other metal in this volcano was actually rather normal. It was made of steel. Of course steel was not an average metal alloy, it was still incredibly hard and could withstand a significant amount of damage. But as far as people like Lilith were concerned, it might have as well just been a sheet of paper.

Apart from the elevator, the only thing keeping them weak during their transit in it, were two Ionite array the size of phone speakers placed on the top and below the elevator. It was then that David truly understood how the elevator worked. Steel was not as strong a metal as mythril or orichalum. But it's also known for it's ability to amplify the effects of other metals. Of course David was not sure it worked the same way on earth, but on Pangea Steel could amplify a mineral's effect.

The elevator was like a Faraday cage. It was able to keep the radiation from the Ionite contained and enhanced within it confines. So yes the elevator might be weak in structure to evolved humans and animals. But once they're in it, they were all powerless.

The elevator came to a stop with a thud, and opened up into a dark tunnel that led straight to the arena. There was quite a lot of people dressed in robes and moving around. The tunnel branched left and right, with a path straight ahead that led to a gate, which was the only thing separating them from that summoning circle.

The two branches of the tunnel probably led up to the seats and the spectators. At the end of the tunnel, there was about a dozen people dressed like them, each holding his own variation of a weapon. But what David was able to understand was that this group of people seemed to be paired up. Those with the same weapons were on the same team, and of the paired up team, David counted seven. Which meant they were fourteen people in all.

David felt his heart skip a beat, as he prayed in all honesty, that he did not have to fight those guys. Most of them looked a big as a house, it might be an exaggeration, but those guys were still big. And to them, the gladius in David's hands, was nothing more than a toothpick. At the moment everything was completely unknown, and as such terrifying. This time he did not need a fear rune to make him this anxious.

And to make matters worse, that Summoning circle could open up anytime. Even if he was able to survive fighting on that circle, what if the portal suddenly opened up under him, he could be swallowed into hell, or become demon lunch.

Not much was said anymore as they were both pushed to stand among the group of paired up fighters. This brought up the total number of fighters to sixteen, and the teams eight. Everyone here seemed to just want to mind their own business, non of them were idiots, they knew it was only a matter of time before they had to start fighting each other. So in the light of that knowledge there was no need to bond or get to know each other. That way when the time came for them to kill each other, it will be way easier and guilt free.

Everything that happened so far however did not make sense to David. He had seen first hand how powerful Lilith was, so the idea that she was captured did not sit well with him. Because if she was here, it meant that she was defeated, and there was somebody stronger than her around. He could not imagine how terrifying such a character would be.

"BOOOONG!!!"

It was the sound of a gavel impacting a metal bell. But whoever was holding it kept on hitting it, making the boom sound resound across the arena while driving all the spectators into a frenzy.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you to another night of...… SURVIVORS ARENA!!!!....... tonight!!!.... We're having a special event, that will take battle and gore straight into the next level. You paid for an exciting night, well I guarantee your going to get your money's worth."

The entire arena burst unto a cacophony of cheers and raving whistles as they all acted intoxicated on the knowledge of the carnage to come. It did not make it any easier for David, and with how nervous members of the other teams looked, it was quite obvious that they were also quite afraid of what was to happen.

"Eight teams will fight, Eight teams will struggle, Eight teams will kill. But one team will leave. Let the games begin, and good luck teams, for your sake, I hope you guys know how to fight."

And then they pushed them all into the arena without any prior warning. David was overwhelmed, there were so many people cheering above him, men, women, kids, animals?, and each and every single one of them had blood and murder in their eyes. David could see that there was no reasoning with this crowd, they were all in it for the carnage and the abject fascination of watching a human loose his or her life in the most gory way possible.

David heard the gate close behind him with a bang so sudden he could not help jumping in fright. His spectators all thought it was funny a they burst into another chorus of laughter at his rather wimpy reaction. There was an aura in the air that David could not really point out, apart from the stench of blood and death, there was just something else that unsettled him greatly.

David moved his gaze over the spectators of the upcoming bloodbath, unable to disguise the anger, horror and revulsion on his face. He was shaken, not just for the fact that he would be fighting for his life in mere moments for the entertainment of people who on a normal day would not have the courage to even look at his face, but because there was not a single person with an ounce of remorse, or a modic.u.m of reluctance for what was about to happen. Some of them were even having s.e.x in their seats, pacing their rhythm to the sounds and clamor for blood and death. Apparently it was such a turn on.

"Get your head in the game David. You're not much to write home about, but I need you to watch my back. Leave the killing to me."

David did not feel relieved when he heard Lilith, he was ashamed. It seemed he was so shaken that he needed a woman to protect him. Of course he knew with her strength and experience, even without her powers, Lilith was a force to be reckoned with. And she was more than capable of keeping them safe under the right circ.u.mstances.

But David was an African, even if that continent did not exist on Pangea, typical African men lived to provide for their women. Of course it was not as if Lilith was his woman, but there was a mentality that David of earth was raised under. The woman was the weak one, and it was up to the man to look after her.

David of Pangea strongly disagreed with such an assessment, after all on Pangea women with the abilities to completely change the landscape of a city with a snap of their fingers existed. Women were equal if not more than most men on Pangea. She could do what she wanted.

And with this disagreement, David had his head and ears ringing in pain again. His vision went white for a moment as he resolved to completely remove any thought of his different lives and identities away. It did not matter what he felt right now, David was just going to do his best and make sure that Lilith got all the help he could give to her.

All the teams began to move into position, each and every single one of them preferring to keep their enemy within their sights. But there was something peculiar about this entire arrangement. Lilith was the only woman there, not to mention she only had a single arm, and that hand chose to hold a shield, while her sword was slung over her back.

David had no idea when she made that arrangement, though he thought it was stupid to use a shield instead of a sword. But the thing is, because she was a one armed woman, their team just became the target of every other team here, and they were all looking at them like they were ready dead.

David raised his shield to his c.h.e.s.t, and gulped rather loudly as he positioned his sword in preparation for the battle. All of a sudden there was a loud clang, and a gate opposite the one they just came through opened up. David did not notice that gate because it was under the seats of the arena, and as the gate slowly opened up, drawing the attention of every one in the arena, the host of this whole nightmare of a show suddenly spoke up, his voice projecting from the massive speakers placed in strategic locations in the arena.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I might have left a very important detail out of our main event for the night. Our eight teams won't just be fighting each other...…but there would also be fighting a creature of our choosing that we have taken to calling, the frost wolf. But what ever happens, only one team would be left standing, or maybe one frost wolf, you can't really be sure with this things. Begin!!"

"ROOAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!"

"Oh shit!! What the hell is that!!?"

David asked out in terror as the new addition to their royal rumble made its way into the arena. This time however it was a member of one of the other teams who gave him the answer to his terror ridden question.

"Death."
