After Evans left, David and Lilith were left to their selves for the moment. And not to be sour about it but, David found the entire thing awkward and boring. After the whole charade and lie, thing's between the two of them became really strained.

It could not be any more obvious by now, that David had a crush on the one armed weapon of mass destruction, but it was Lilith's knowledge of that crush that made things really strange for the both of them. She did not feel the same way, that much was obvious, but neither of them were comfortable pretending they were a couple.

However that lie was part of what was keeping them alive. It took a while, but they were both able to realize that their so called relationship, made them even more appealing as fighters to the people who came to the arena. A pair of lovers fighting for survival, fighting to stay alive so that eventually they would become free and ride off into the sunset. It was annoying, but it was what they had to deal with.

Eventually David had the next energy surge and evolution, which brought about a change in his abilities, and his body. Naturally he was stronger and faster and more resilient. But his true growth came from his abilities, and with the Ionite array, there was no way he could explore the intricacies of his abilities now.

NAME: DAVID JOHNSON IYE

AGE: NINETEEN

PHYSIQUE: LEVEL 2 (5.11)

AGILJTY: LEVEL 1 (4.00)

MENTAL: LEVEL 2 (9.30)

PSY COLUMN: LEVEL 2

PSIONIC ABILITIES: TELEPATHY: LEVEL 3| TELEKINESIS: LEVEL 0| MOLECULAR RESTRUCTURE: LEVEL 1

ENERGY LEVEL STABLE

ESTIMATED TIME TILL NEXT ENERGY SURGE: 1 MONTH: 2 WEEKS: 4 DAYS: 16 HOURS: 40 SECONDS.

Even the way the regulator displayed the time until the next surge changed. Because his physique finally got to level two, his molecular restructure ability became activated. There was only one problem, and that was the fact that David had no idea how that ability worked, or what to do with it. And the fact that he was stuck in a cell with Ionite arrays were not all that helpful to him in discovering the uses for his abilities.

But with two abilities under his belt, and the fact that his telepathy had jumped up a level, David's psy column had increased to two. He was a far cry from what you would consider a genius, but at least people will take him seriously now. With a level two psy column reading, he could get a comfortable post in the army and live a life of leisure. But beyond that his psy column going up a level really surprised him. It was really rare when a psy column increased in level, it was so rare that only thirty percent of ability users ever experience it, and out of that thirty percent on 3 percent experience it more than once in their entire lifetime. People like that tend to be the most powerful of forces Pangea has to offer, and even though David could count himself lucky to have experienced such a jump in power, he was still not strong enough to even beat Lilith in her weakened state.

But from the psy columns increase in level, David gathered that his molecular restructure ability must pack one heck of a punch. Or level three of telepathy has seen an exponential increase In the effects, range and power of his telepathic abilities. All in all he was stronger now, and his head did not hurt as much.

"My son used to love ice cream."

"What?"

David asked in surprise as Lilith's voice drew him out of his musings. The status quo between the two of them always seemed to change at the drop of a heart, and at the moment they were going through and awkward phase. So it was very much a surprise that she was to talk to him, and even more so the fact that she wanted to talk about her son. That was a topic David has been avoiding like a plague since the incident on Victoria Island. But it seems the fuzz has caught up to him.

"My son loves ice cream, I mean he lo….ved it."

Her voice broke at the end, this was a painful topic for her, which was why David was so shocked she wanted to talk about it. If it hurt so much, then why bother yourself with such pain.

"I don't know it you've noticed Lilith but every kid loves ice cream."

As soon as the words came out of his mouth, even David knew he had made a blunder. It was a rather ins.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e thing to say, and with the horrified look that splashed all over his face David admonished his f.u.c.k up, and prepared himself for death. But Lilith just laughed over it as she continued speaking.

"Yes they do, but not like my son. You see my boy, my Astaroth, my little Asta was allergic to dairy. But even that never stopped him from asking for that beverage like his life depended on it."

"sniff"

"You know when I want on a rampage, which I'm sure you've no doubt heard about. I was pregnant with him, even I didn't know that I had the heir to the Empire of Rodinia growing in my w.o.m.b. The next rising sun of the eastern islands would have come from my body.

But things never work out the way they are planned. I paid a price too steep for my half c.o.c.ked revenge. I lost seventy whole percent of my abilities, and without my regulator it was hard keeping track of all the energy my body absorbed. Because of that, I had a difficult pregnancy."

She paused to wipe her eyes with trembling hands and widened eyes as she took a rather painful trip down memory lane. David had no idea what to do, should he go over and sit beside her, probably rub her back while he was at it. But that would be taking advantage of her, in her time of weakness. In the end all he said to her was.

"If it's that painful you don't have to relive it, or tell me."

Lilith looked up at him with a sharpened gaze in her eyes as she asked him.

"Weren't you curious about me, I've noticed this urge you have to dissect me. To know me, to know what makes me tick. So that you can control me."

David was stumped, control her?. Maybe she was right, as David of earth, he lived his life, and made his relationship based on how important a person could be to him. And more often than not he always ended up being the one holding the reins in that relationship. So Lilith was not wrong, the only downside was that David had been doing this subconsciously.

"Yes I want to know you, and I most definitely want to do more than dissect you, if you know what I mean. However not at the cost of causing you pain."

"So I'm supposed to believe that all of a sudden you care about my wellbeing."

"Yes, I do care about you, almost as much as I'm terrified of you, if not more. But if you really want to tell me about your past, no matter how painful or ugly it is, just know I'll be here for you."

Lilith looked at David with an intense gaze so burning it made him nervous. You could never really know what this woman was thinking most of the time. She was used to being powerful, she was powerful. And powerful women were one, if not the most unpredictable breed of female known to man. David realized with all of the close brushes they have had with death, he did not just have a crush on Lilith. The s.e.x.u.a.l aspect of their relationship excluded, David genuinely cared for the broken woman. And that was because he felt that just like him, she was trying to find her own place in this world, in this life.

"My son was born autistic and with a weak constitution. He got sick a lot, and not even the regulator could help him with his pain. After he was born the doctors confirmed that I was barren, after Astar was born, my w.o.m.b shriveled up like an old prune left under the sun.

The chaotic storm of energy in my body had damaged not just my son, and my abilities as a fighter, it also destroyed my chances of ever being a mother again. Astaroth was all I had to live for, that boy was all the joy in my life.

I remember the nights where I would stay by his crib all night praying, because he was having difficulty breathing. My son and I we suffered, and his father, the man I loved did not even search for us, or send someone looking for me.

I became a political scape goat, a fugitive, and public enemy no.1. No friends, no family, no husband. And then there you were, flying on your hover bike towards me and my son, our only hope to escape from drowning after I had spent three days beating the shit out of people to get supplies and food to escape the island. It was too late by then as the water had already covered more than half of the island. And with all of the evolved animals in the sea, it was a risk I couldn't take with my son."

She paused to run her fingers through her white hair as tears fell from her eyes. They both knew how the rest of the story turned out, but David did not want her to continue. The death of her son was something David has so far been successful in pushing away from his thoughts and his mind. It was easier that way, to pretend as if it didn't happen, and since the dead kid's mother did not mention it herself, everything was okay. But there was no escaping this issue today.

"For a moment, I thought that we would be safe, that there was a chance my baby, my son would survive in this world. But you brought death with you, you took my son from me you bastard. You took my Astar."

There was nothing David could say to that. It was true. It was his fault that innocent boy was dead, his fault that the one person he could consider a true friend since he woke up different was now in a lot of pain. But what could he do, what could he say…..I'm sorry?, that would never work out. David knew that there's nothing I'm sorry can solve in this situation. It was too late for apologies, to late to do things different.

"I can't ever forgive you for what you've done, no matter how fond of you, I have become. You killed my Son, and you won't tell me why he died or what he died for. You're just a kid David, you can barely be called a man, but my son was a child, a three year old baby. He couldn't live for anything, so what did he die for then."

David was so smothered with guilt he felt like he was drowning in it. Every word Lilith spoke about her son, cut like a knife and emphasized the temerity of the mess he created, the heart he broke, but what could he have done. He had no control over the situation. He could tell himself that he was not to blame, but then who would take the blame, who else was there to take it....the lizard was just an animal that had developed an intelligence that convinced it that David was an enemy that needed to be eliminated at all cost.

Lilith had promised she would kill him when all was said and done. David saw her face when she spoke those words, she was not lying and she meant every single letter. But David felt he owed her answers, she; more than anyone deserved to know how it all went to hell.

"Lilith I will tell you why...…"

But before he could finish his sentence he was stopped by two guards standing in their cell all of a sudden. Veni who had her head down while napping raised it up and gave a hissing growl that shook both guards very badly.

"Its Arena day, and I suggest you better get ready. Today your PSIONIC abilities will do the fighting for you. The boss says to tell you, 'Don't disappoint me or I will sell the heirloom to the highest bidder.' So you better get ready, the both of you."

With their conversation cut short, David had to focus his energy into other avenues. But right now he was feeling a myriad of emotions about the upcoming fight, chief among them was excitement and fright. David was scared about how excited he was of the knowledge he was going to someone. No matter how you looked at it, this was not normal.
