The Lost Chronicles Of Pangea: Apocalypse

Every bullet that David shot at Evans ended up bouncing of a yellow earthen shield that sprung up in front of him. David clicked his tongue in annoyance as he called out to Evans.

"Are you going to keep hiding behind your shield like a p.u.s.s.y, or are you going to come out and fight. Either way, I'm still going to beat the crap out of you."

Evans answer to David's taunts, was to shoot a pair of earth lances that David barely managed to dodge. Both lances flew towards the cage with the huge scorpion, one of them broke against the cage, while the other made it through and hit the scorpion on one of its pinchers.

There was barely any damage done to the scorpion, but it was provoked. Even at the cost of being hurt the scorpion began to ram against the cage with increased fervor and rage. The cage was holding up for now, so David could focus on his fight with Evans.

Seeing that his earth lances had missed their attack, Evans started firing Mana bolts in a rapid fashion, trying to use their amount to overwhelm David. David had to duck down behind his hover bike as condensed balls of Mana energy impacted of the side of hover bike.

His hover bike had a frame made of orichalum, there was barely any damage to it, as the hover bike absorbed the energy. David knew however that orichalum was not a metal that stored Mana, it was only very good at channeling it. Which meant all the energy of was currently holding, would need to be dispersed soon.

David raised his head to fire at Evans, only to hear an audible click. Even with the giant scorpion raging in the background, and the clamor of the other evolved animals and monsters, David was not really happy with hearing the sound of his gun becoming empty. He had ammo for the assault rifle in the trunk of his hover bike, but he was in the middle of the fight and couldn't really do anything about it. David slung the rifle over his shoulder and pulled out his modified handgun. Its intensity was already set to stun, but there was only enough charge left for one attack. With Evans protected by his earth attributed barrier, it was nothing short of impossible to be able to get him injured with the gun. The ion blast might damage the shield or even completely destroy it, but there was no guarantee that Evans would be caught in the ensuing attack.

David looked around to see of he could come up with any other plans. He only had one shot, and the constant banging the scorpion was making in the cage behind him, made it very difficult to think. David noticed Veni sitting beside him, with her hands over her head as she squatted down into a ball. It was rather cute sight and David could not help smiling as he tapped her horned head in affection. Then David turned and shot the gun. At the first sign of movement from David, he had already set up his earth shield and reinforced it. But David was not aiming for Evans, he was aiming for the cage that had the giant thorn covered snake.

Was this a good idea...probably not. But David had one shot, and he had to make it count. Besides it was way much fun to go out with a bang.

"Ha-ha David you missed."

"I was never aiming for you Evans. Maybe you should turn around."

"Hisssss"

David had to admit, that Evans had quite a significant amount of battle sense and instinct. It was by sheer skill that Evans was able to get up a shield in time to block the thorned snake from taking a bite out of him. The shield was so strong that the snake resounded and crashed into the other cages that were within its vicinity. It made enough racket to attract Evans attention, not to mention it had set loose about a dozen new monsters out of their own individual cages. Quite unfortunate really, but it gave David enough time to get his hover bike started and placed Veni behind him. David drove forward towards Evans who was still trying to fend off the released snake, along with a few other animals that had started to fight among themselves.

There was no time left as David drove towards Evans for a head on collision, the giant thorned snake was still trying its possible best to get past Evans barrier and inflict the worst possible death he could imagine on him. It was because of that distraction that Evans did not notice David until it was to late.

"Booooom!!"

When the hover bike hit the earth barrier, the snake was still hanging on to it, trying to use its fangs to find a crack in its seamless structure. The energy released from the collision threw Evans and snake off the feet and belly like they were paper at the mercy of the wind. Because David was the one who drove the hover bike, he WS able to keep the release of energy contained, which meant Evans and the snake along with a few other unlucky monsters were flung around like a dog's chew toy. But David did not escape unscathed as his head impacted the handle of his hover bike, cracking the display screen right in front of him. His vision went black for a few moments as his headache came back with a force he did not expect. Everything was ringing, and he was finding it very hard to reorient himself. Suddenly flashes of both his lives were going through his head, he was suddenly having comparisons of everybody he knew or ever met, who they were, or how important they were to him.

And it was at that moment that David realized something, David of earth did not have a sister. It was the shock he needed to get back in control of himself, however, it was too much of a shock to bear. David did not know how he could have missed such a big hole in his memory, everything was so similar about both their lives, that he assumed even his family was still the same.

But it was not, David of earth did not have a sister, he also did not have a mother who slept with his step brother. But even with this realization it did not bring him any closer to the answer he truly yearns for. Was he a soul in another body, or a body with the memory of another soul. In the end his problems still remained the same, including the current one in the form of Evans who was slowly making his way back to his feet.

Pounding headache aside, David had to get out of this warehouse, because at the rate things seemed to be going, it was about to become ruled by the law the jungle.

"Crasshhhh!!"

The sound of metal being shredded drew David's attention as he turned around to see the giant scorpion making a beeline for him, Even with all of his experience, David felt his heart thump a bit faster in fright. The scorpion looked a whole lot more terrifying freed, than it was caged.

David put his hover bike in gear as he shot forward leaving a cloud of smoke and the smell of burnt rubber behind him. He pulled the battle blade for his back and changed it into it's axe form, then he lined his bike for Evans who was still disoriented for the earlier clash of arcane energies. However Evans was still a rather sharp mage, as he moved to the side to dodge the incoming bike, but David had already anticipated his move, and swung his axe with every ounce of strength he could muster at that moment.

"Arggghhhhh!!!!!! God!!! Oh God!! My arm!!!"

David chuckled to himself as it seemed like Evans could not really handle pain. But the satisfying sound of Evans falling down in pure agony as he clutched the stump where his missing arm once hung left an even wider smile on David's face.

David shot into the air narrowly dodging the jaws of the still disoriented thorned snake, he was above the heads of whatever beast was left, though he doubted they were worried about him since they were all busy trying to take a bite out of each other.

When David finally made his way out of the warehouse, it was chaos everywhere he looked. The spit of gunfire and the demonic flames of whatever hell those demons came was slowly spreading through the trailer park. Demons of all shapes and sizes, with the smallest being about the size of a house cat, and the biggest about the size of the wolf he fought in his first day at the arena.

Many of them had taken to the air, and were leisurely swooping down and taking humans up into the air where they proceeded to have dinner in motion. It was a rather gory sight as guts and dismembered humans rained from the sky. Some of the human fighters were lucky enough to take some of the demons down, but that all seemed to be counter productive as they drew more attention to themselves from demons that outnumbered them ten to one.

David looked around, but truly neither Lilith or the cruiser could be located. Looking around David noticed the beginning of a forest line, it was the only way he could get away from the demons, and keep himself covered from any pursuers. But not all things work out as planed as about a dozen demons took offense that someone other than them was flying around in the sky.

David shifted his battle blade into its spear form as he drove for the forest line. The first demon that got close to him did not even have a chance to attack of scream before David stabbed his spear through its throat, then with the demon still hanging of the spear he swept it sideways, causing it to fly off like a projectile and slam into another demon flying to close to comfort.

David ducked to the left as a cat like looking demon missed his head by inches, David could hear Veni screaming in protest behind him as she screamed out her anger at the demon's attempt to harm him. But as the Demon was turning around to make another attempt on David, it was torn apart by a hail of bullets along with any other demon unlucky enough to be in it's current vicinity.

David was surprised before all of a sudden the missing cruiser appeared in front of him, his jaw was wide open as the bay door for the cruiser opened up and Lilith was standing there looking all serious and s.e.xy in a silver skin tight flight suit.

"What? Haven't you seen a cruiser with cloaking tech before."

"...….."

"are you going to get in, or do you need a minute."

David shook his head and drove his hover bike into the cruiser, Minerva was sitting in one of the passenger seats, it seemed the cruiser was set to auto pilot. David turned his head around and watched as the volcano, the arena and the sky filled of demons disappeared from his sight. He may not be coming back here for a vacation or nostalgia any time soon, but this place had taught and done a lot of things to him. Part of him wished it would be wiped of the face of Pangea, while another part of him felt a sense of belonging. David did not need a psychologist to tell him that the part of him that wanted to stay and live within this chaos, was the monster that was born here.
