The Lost Chronicles Of Pangea: Apocalypse

Chapter 44 - Descent Into Darkness

When they got back to the police station, it was without a doubt that they had an entire army of monsters behind them. The flimsy barricade that they had effected would not hold for long, regardless of the fact that both the doors and windows had iron bars to serve as a deference, it was only a matter of time before they all came crashing through. And as if that was not enough, the bats that had escaped from the airtight tunnels previously were all hanging over their heads, and David was sure they were not as big, and neither were their eyes as red, when they first came out of those tunnels. They had to get going, and ironically the only thing that could keep them safe, was the tunnels that was already filled with the undead.

It was to their extreme luck however, that everything they had gathered was able to be fit into the dark tunnel, even David's hover bike made it through. And then just as they were about to close the vault door, an audible crash was heard, and the shrieks of a million bats rang out loud as they were spooked by the sudden the crash.

Soon enough howls followed, along with a cacophony of other random and somewhat scary noises. Then Lilith closed the vault door with a bang, she came into the secret tunnel and closed its own door too. And then she turned her hand into her diamond form and ripped a black box off the top of the door.

It was connected with a lot of wires and metal tubes with metallic rings around them. It was probably the system that controlled the secret knock used to open the door, of course it was foolish to think that those animals would know how to use the secret knock, but the same could not be said for Ahmevid. She has the entire town under her control, so it was hard to say how deep into the secrets of this town was that lizard entrenched.

But now that Lilith had ripped that box off, they were for lack of a more extravagant word, trapped. That might have been a stupid move on her part, because now they had no other option but to keep on going forward, straight into the belly of beast and the waiting jaws of the undead.

"We will camp here for tonight, hopefully you're strong enough to move by yourself by tomorrow."

David could only give her a reply by blinking his eyes, he felt like a massive bag of jelly or honey. He could not move his body at all. It was not as if he was paralyzed, but it was more like his limbs could not react to his commands fast enough for them to function. Thankfully he could still pass gas, though he could not begin to imagine how awkward it would be, if he has to pee.

With his hover bike in the tunnel, it was a very tight fit, but they were able to make out an area where all three of them fell asleep almost immediately, leaving Veni, Vidi and Vici as their sentries. They were all really exhausted with roller coaster ride of emotions they all just experienced. A good night's sleep would do wonders for them, tomorrow they can tackle the tunnels and secrets within them.

SOMEWHERE IN THE WESTERN EDGE OF PANGEA

THE CITY OF ANGELS

800 KILOMETERS BELOW THE HOLLYWOOD SCHOOL OF PSIONICS AND MAGICAL STUDIES.

Alarm were blaring and screaming out loud as a rather short and stocky man waddles through the pristine white walls of a secret military base. The man who was known as the Inspector hated the sight of this walls, he hated the smell and scent of the air and fragrance within this halls, he hated the sight of their pristine whit fluorescent light bulbs.

The Inspector sighed with frustration as he moved his short legs as fast as he could through the halls, hoping to get this report out of his hands, and into the l.a.p of someone more capable than he was. At least this way he would not have to worry about the veritable shit storm that was bound to blow when this comes to light. That and also the fact that he had a young sixteen year old escorts from the city of flowers waiting for him gracefully on king sized sate of the art feather bed. Soon enough he would be sleeping on clouds with an angel for company.

The Inspector made a turn left and had to hold back the urge to scream out in anger at the sight of more white halls and fluorescent lights. The only difference this time, was that this hall was longer. This place was called the HIVE, and it was built like a maze with layers upon layer of halls, corners, doors, rooms, and armories.

They each overlapped each other in rather haphazardly manner, as each level was built independently and In a completely stupid manner. Some of the buildings ran parallel to each other, they were either horizontal or vertical, and some of them were crossed like an X. Each level had its own number of floors, and at the end was a teleportation gate that could either lead to the next level, or sweet freedom away from this strange and bizarre prison.

Thankfully each building had its own natural laws, courtesy of an arch mage of space and a great wizard with specialties in pocket dimensions. It was the only reason why people could walk around in an upside down building like it was a normal one.

The Inspector turned another corner much to his annoyance, but thankfully there was a door with the symbol of wings drawn on it. He gave a sigh of relief, but almost immediately shuddered in fear and revulsion.

He knew exactly who was behind that door, and to be honest he rather not have anything to do with that maniac, but alas he was a colleague and a pseudo kind of boss, so he had to pay attention to him. The final hall, unlike the others was not devoid of life, as people could be seen walking around, in and out from doors on either side of the hall, there was hardly anyone going in or coming out from the door with the wing shaped sign on it, but the Inspector was not to surprise. That guy really was a maniac.

The only other thing that could catch his attention and unsettled him, was the fact that every worker here, had on clothes that were completely pure white from head to toe. It might seem like a great fashion sense, but they all looked like something out of a horror movie. The Inspector hurried his pace, and barged into the room with the winged door. He was very reluctant to spend any more second in that hallway.

"You have no regards for my privacy as usual Inspector, should I be worried?"

The inspector turned to the speaker who was looking plat some monitors, over the shoulders of a cute technician who the Inspector was sure would not survive the next week.

"If there's anything you need to worry about, it would be for the world finding out about you being a sadistic, self centered prick."

"Wow, take it easy on the insults inspector, we're all friends right. We're friends. Now what can I do for you."

The Inspector was happy that they could get down to business and soon enough he would be free from this douche bags annoying presence.

"The alarms we put up for one of our secret cache has been triggered. It happened almost twelve to fifteen hours ago."

"Seriously you don't need me to review and act on such a report. So a cache gets raided, and a bunch insurgents gets free weapons to wreck more problems on Pangea. How is that my problem.?"

The Inspector wanted to smack a book, or preferably something harder into this guy's face. He was so smug it was infuriating.

"It's not just a random cache that was hit. It was THE CACHE. The reason why the other cache exists in the first place."

"wait, wait, wait, wait. Are you telling me THE CACHE was actually hit. Why didn't you tell me?"

"... "

"Well!!?"

"what the hell do you think I'm doing here.?"

"aren't you hear to tell me the CACHE was hit, but that's besides the point, I'm asking you why didn't you...…oh! Sorry."

When the he finally realized his blunder he actually had the audacity to look remorseful, this guy did not have a single compassionate bone in his body, so his current look was quite annoying. But the Inspector would not miss a chance to rub it in.

"You're so stupid. But now you have to report this to the higher up, if they get what's inside that Cache, and the other fathers and mothers find out. The city of angels and the school would be put in a rather precarious position."

"I know, hopefully it's not the division who is wrecking havoc, but if it's them we have to be prepared. Summon the Seraphim, we need to fix this immediately!"

The Inspector was surprised, it could just be a malfunctioning alarm, but to summon the seraphim, the best squad of psionics and magic users in the whole of Pangea. Then this meant the division was a whole lot more dangerous than he imagined.

"Are you sure summoning the Seraphim is a good idea. It might turn out to be nothing than just a faulty alarm."

"Even if its so, we have to be sure. I'm not taking any chances."

The Inspector could not help but ask one final question that was nagging him. It was something he had not been able to find out since he stared working in the HIVE.

"What's so special about this CACHE anyway. I was asked to make it my priority, but why? What's in it."

All of a sudden the atmosphere in the room dropped a few hundred degrees as a rather fearsome voice spoke behind him.

"The corpse of a Dragon."
