The Lost Chronicles Of Pangea: Apocalypse

Chapter 46 - David Vs The Evil Dead (iii)

David already heard the m.o.a.ns and shuffling of the undead before he saw them. There was a stench in the air that made his stomach churn with revulsion. He really didn't want to be here, but he had no choice.. Lilith had split the three tortoise between themselves, and the all went into different tunnels. And somehow David was chosen to clear the first tunnel, to be honest he would rather be facing the skeleton mages, rather than the living err…..not so living walking corpses.

"Vidi are you ready?"

"RARRR!"

"Yes I'm scared too."

"RARR!"

David felt his eye twitch in annoyance, this tortoise of his was quite cheeky. Even though a straight conversation was bot possible between the two of them, his telepathy was enough to tell him that the giant tortoise thought he was a wimp. But there was nothing he could do about that though.

The sharing of his siblings had been a strategic move, Veni was a walking Ionite array with the ability to render any sort of ability or magic null, so she went with Lilith to take care of the skeleton mages. Vici did not have any special skills, shirt of being really fast and having a hard shell, he went with Minerva to clear out the tunnel with the skeleton soldiers. And Vidi with his sound wave powers went with David. At least that way there was a higher percentage for all if them to complete their respective missions.

"Okay Vidi, fire it up."

"RARARARARARARAAAAAA!!!"

"BOOM!"

David was almost thrown off his feet by the sheer amount of force from Vidi's sound attack. The tunnels shook as dusts fell from its ceiling, almost two dozen zombies were scattered ahead of them in a mangled heap of flesh, rot and broken bones. Of course it was hardly a dent in the overall amount of undead in the tunnel, but a journey of a thousand miles begin with a first step.

"Let's go Vidi, remember to recharge."

Then David pulled out his battle blade and shifted it into its axe form. He held the massive double edge axe with two hand as he broke into a run at the crowds of undead in front of him. The first undead had it's head rolling to the ground as David swung his axe with all his strength.

That move however was to amateurish as the ace flew out of Davids hand due to how easy it was for him to cut through the zombies neck.

David rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, and shamelessly chose to ignore the peculiar look Vidi was giving to him. He bent down to pick up his axe, before he jumped back into attacking the zombies.

Thus time his moves and strength were do trolled and carefully planned, the zombies had week bodies, and it was quite easy for David to cut through them.

But he kept his aim for their heads, and that was due to the fact that unlike biologically animated zombies that were created from any sort of lab experiment, a bullet to the head was not enough to finish this guys off. You first had to take their heads, and then set them on fire, if not that head would be attached back in a few hours to a day.

David ducked a casual swing from a zombie that smelled really bad, (they all did), and swung his axe up in an arc that split its head in two from beneath it's jaw. The zombie staggered back a bit, its brain, teeth and tongue hanging out of its split face haphazardly, then it renewed it's slow attack, but that was enough time for David to slice his axe through it's neck.

David let out a sigh of annoyance, he could not see an end to this zombies, and so far he had left a ten meter trail of decapitated dead bodies, but yet there was still a lot of them ahead. Whoever set this up as a trap was sadistic beyond all reasonable doubt, because without a power that could clear out multiple crowds if people, it would take forever to get through this mass of rotting flesh and horror filled dreams.

And so David continued like this for another hour, slipping into a monotonous and repetitive action of slicing, diving, decapitating and cursing somebody's mother over his current predicament. He was covered with rot and all sot of zombie guts, he smelled, and he still had the urge to puke his guts out. But he could finally say that he had gotten over his fear, in fact that fear had turned into an intense anger for this unending crowd of zombies, and he would love nothing more than to eradicate them.

Thankfully his stamina had improved a lot after multiple energy surges, and running for his life through a lot situations, so far he at least hoped for a little luck. He turned his head to Vidi, who had done nothing so far but to follow behind him as he sent already dead people into an even deader state.

Apparently it seems like this tortoise was above performing menial tasks, such as killing already dead people.

It was annoying, but David could not force him to help, but he was also tired and if Vidi still refuses to use his sonic scream or whatever, David was going to attack him instead.

"Well? Carry on. Please I beg you, I need to get the f.u.c.k out of here, and I know you do too. So the sooner we get rid of this things the better it would be for the both of us."

"RAARRARA!"

Vidi turned his head upwards as if he was trying to show how much he disdained being forced to do something this lowly, he was a king among kings, and this human servant of his thinks he is worthy enough to demand things from him "humph" what a joke. But if he doesn't help, there would still be stuck in this pile of rotting corpses for a significant amount of time. This servant was to weak to get the job done properly, so maybe it was not so bad to lend a little help.

So enough the tell tale green crystals showed up on Vidi's body, his shell became translucent and sparkles in the dimly lit cave. David took notice of the crystals that were extending out of his joints and horns, he noticed them vibrating slowly as tiny almost invisible particles of dust began to gather around them.

If you did not look a little closer, it would be almost impossible to notice them, however it was strange, from the way they moved, it seemed obvious to David that, Vidi was actually charging up an attack. He was drawing and amplifying the sound waves already existent in the surroundings, so for his ability to give enough damage, there has to be enough sound so that the amplification would be a lot more powerful.

"NOW I SAW HER FAACCEEE, NOW I'M A BELIEVER, NOT A TRAACEE OF DOUBT IN MY MIND, I'M IN LOVE, OOOOOO I COULDN'T LEAVE HER IF I TRIED. NOW I SAY HER FAAACCEEE, NOW I'M A BELIEVER...…"

David began to sing really loud, and he prayed to all the gods, and the God in existence that the walls of this tunnels were thick enough to block the sound of his singing from reaching the ladies. But he noticed that his impromptu experiment had actually worked. When he was singing his lungs out, David noticed that Vidi's crystal extensions vibrated a lot faster and had more air particles than normal. After another half a minute the crystals started glowing ominously, and then.

"RARRR-FAAACEEEE-RAAARRRR-BELIEVER-RARRRR"

There was a sonic boom and David was thrown of his feet and deposited five meters back into a pile of zombie corpses(I think). His ears were ringing and his head was rattled. For a moment he didn't know which way was up or whether his left hand was located on his left b.u.t.t cheek, or right on his c.h.e.s.t.

David shook his head vigorously to try and get his thinking faculties back on line, but that proved to be a mistake as David suddenly felt dizzy and regurgitated everything he had eaten in the past few hours. The room was spinning for s little while longer, so he decided to sit down a bit to rest and get himself back online.

After a few minutes, David was able to string a few coherent thoughts, the first thing being he was never going to do this again. Or at least not in confined spaces. And then the next thought was 'AWESOME', he was sure he head his voice amplified into a screeching sound after Vidi released the attack, it proved his earlier theory was correct, and that the power of the sonic scream was amplified by how much sound, and noise Vidi could absorb from his immediate surroundings.

David opened his eyes to see Vidi close to his face, almost giving him a heart attack. David placed his hands on his head, and felt through his telepathy, how worried the tortoise was for him. It out a smile on his face as feelings of warmth wrapped around his heart.

"You don't have to worry to much, I'm okay."

Then Vidi quickly pulled his head away and pushed his nose into the air as if to say. "who's worried about you, I just wanted to make sure my servant was still in shake to serve me, it's so hard to find good help this days."

David chuckled at the sight of this, it was times like this that he usually remembered that much like him, the three tortoises were still kids in their own right. They might have grown really fast in the two months that he had owned them, but they were still just babies after all.

David moved his gaze back to the undead and almost lost his jaw due to what he saw. He quickly closed his mouth due to the smell of the tunnel, and the taste of vomit in his mouth.

David was really lucky that he was behind Vidi and probably only escaped with a concussion, there was thirty meter long stretch of tunnel that was filled with nothing but a cloud and tiny little streams of blood. Vidi completely eradicated every zombie David could see. After the thirty meter stretch the zombies were all in broken states for another ten meters. It was an effective range of forty meters, with thirty being a sure kill area and ten being a heavily injured area.

David could not begin to imagine how much power such an ability would get if Vidi keeps on evolving. Abilities this powerful would probably be ranked third on the psy column if not higher. To be honest it was scary and David was completely shaken to his core at the sheer destructive power he had just witnessed.

After the area of damage, the zombie left were sparsely spread, then the tunnel opened up like a funnel, there were hundreds of bones if not thousands littering the ground, and about thirty to twenty five meters was and inconspicuous wooden door attached to a wall at the end of the tunnel.

The zombies that David had to deal with now did not seem to number more than a dozen of two, he could take them down. But he could not help the feeling that things were about to get worse, much more worse. And David felt the urge to be prepared for anything, after all it doesn't hurt to be a little bit more prepared.

He picked himself from the ground, and had to lean on the wall a bit to get rid of the wooziness in his brain. Then he made his way to his battle blade and changed it to a sword form, he was not sure he had the strength to swing an axe right now.

"Well Vidi, let's get this over with."
