The Lost Fruits

Chapter 24 - The Battlefield

In the middle of the desert, near the border of Agrabah. In the deafening military camp with men shouting at each other in a hurry and anxiousness. Ace was relaxing in his own tent after a long day of healing the injured and being barraged by countless men thanking him. Some had their limbs cut off, some were burned until their bones came out thanks to the enemy's recruited Magus and archers, and some were just about to die. To them, Ace was a savior, a heaven-sent apostle who took pity on them and helped them. Their gratitude and belief in God became far stronger, their moral skyrocketed, each one had a grudge against one of the Jahilon's army and they swore to give back the debt full.

Ace was glad that they directed their gratitude towards God, it saved him a lot of trouble. Genie was on his shoulder all the time, this guy, a blue create of mystic and wisdom, a creature sought after by every man who has impossible dreams, for the first time in his life, he felt useless.

'The hell did you rub the lamp for anyway!' He thought. But his thoughts were kept to himself, he can't be complaining either. Unlike any other master in time, Ace didn't call him salve, never treated him as a lesser man, never looked at him power-hungry eyes, and above all, he never caged him beside him like a bird, Genie was free to fly, to swim, to eat whatever he wanted wherever he wanted. It was this what made Genie favor Ace. Deep in his heart, he wished that they never reach the third wish, never use any of his power. He wanted to observe and travel alongside the sleeping man on the magic carpet

"Mr.Portgas!" A voice outside the tent brought Genie out of his thought, he looked down at the sleeping Ace before sighing and returning to his lamp on his neck. Following him, Hassan came in wearing his full c.h.e.s.t armor and leather boots with a sword on his back. "Mr.Portgas!" he called again waking Ace from his slumber

"What is wrong?" Ace inquired while robbing his eyes, he slept some good time.

"Our scouts returned, they say that have spotted those Vain Jahilons on the other side of the battlefield." Hassan answered "They seem to prepare to attack. If you want to join the battle, this is the time." he said.

Ace yawned and stood up, the magical carpet left the tent and took off to the sky to watch, Ace washed his face and a towel of flames passed by his face evaporating the water and drying his face. "Alright, I will join your fight, although you have promised me that you will let me fight in the front line." He said. He took out his clothes, this time, he took out his real clothes, the pirate clothes that he always donned. A black short locked on his h.i.p.s with his famous [A] belt carrying on it a dagger that he rarely used. Topless with nothing but a long silver skull necklace and genie's necklace lamp going down his c.h.e.s.t and a cowboy hat.

Hassan frowned. He is still going about this? he thought if he let him alone for a bit and then acted like he never heard anything, then maybe Ace would be a good man and stay with him back to command the army, he has promised him to let him have the control over the army, but how is he going to do that if he was in the front fight with no one to carry his orders. But--"Alright, but don't tell me I didn't warn you, their favorite attack is fire arrows and fireball from their archers and Magus." Hassan said.

"Heh!" Ace snarred at that "Fire...?" As if it was a joke, how long has it been since he felt something burn him? he was always warm, always at the same temperature, never changing.

Ace looked at his index finger black ring as it glowed. A sword came out surprising Hassan, his eyes widened at its shape and look "That sword?!!" he mumbled.

In Ace's hands, a long black bladed sword Beginning from its silver hilt as a normal gladius type sword but as it went down to the tip, it gets narrow and sharper like a tuck sword as it turns red with steam burning up

Beginning as a normal gladius type sword but as it went down to the tip, it gets narrow and sharper like a tuck sword as it turns red with steam burning up.

Ace smiled "This my sword...Burkan!" Although he rarely used it, it was one of Ace's most treasured items. Items he traveled the world and endured great hardsh.i.p.s to acquire.

"A good name, meaning Volcano." Hassan nodded in acknowledgment "But we have to get moving, the battle is about to start." Hassan said and turned to leave.

Ace chuckled and looked at his ring "How stupid could I be? I have been trying to hide stuff when I shouldn't have been." Just now, he took out his sword from his ring as a test, if Hassan overreacted and demanded answers, he would try to avoid doing something out of the ordinary in the future "With a world that has a magic lamp and sand monsters, I sure was stupid." No more hiding his powers. He will display it to the world. He was sure now, Magic, monsters, and strange creatures weren't fear striking, just rare. Like a man who sees a mountain of gold in front of him for the first time.

Ace exited his tent and jumped on his horse and followed Hassan. The army moved leaving dust behind them, and sending earth moving striding sound, the cloud of dust could be seen from miles away. And their enemy for sure could see it.

On the other side, with the Jahilons' army, they saw the cloud of dust going up.

"Lord Jarr, they are coming!" A man in full leather armor spoke to the man behind him. He was a man with a thick beard wearing full silver armor with a long fur cap on his back. It was the desert, the sun was just above their heads with nothing to hide with, and this man was wearing silver and fur as if it was snowing. But who cares, a lord must keep his appearance at all times.

"Prepare for battle." The man said. "As soon as they are in range, let them come in deep before hitting them with arrows. Let the cavalry walk in the front first, we can't show them our archers' at every battle."

Following his command, the archers walked back and switched place with the cavalry and infantry.

After they were done preparing, they noticed a man on a grey horse coming forward alone.

"Lord Jarr, what should we do about him?" Jarr's subordinate spoke. But before e could receive the answer, Jarr noticed the lone rider rating a silver sword in the sky.

"They want to talk," he said. "Mora, Sot, come with me," Jarr said. he c.a.r.e.s.sed hos thick black beard and urged his horse to go forward.

The Lone Rider was none other thank Ace, he took back his sword and waited for the enemy's general to arrive in front of him. Three men were riding towards him, and Ace could see a man with silver armor in this heat "A Noble, I presume." he mumbled.

No sooner the three men were in front of Ace.

"Hm? I thought it would be Hassan! but it seems they got a new general as soon as Hamza died." Jarr laughed mockingly "What do you want newbie?" he asked.

Ace sighed at the man in front of him, he didn't want to get in too much talking, so he had to keep it short.

And no better words could be shorter in this situation than "I accept your surrender."
