The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 51 - A warm expression

Harleen continued to stare at Averill, she wasn't properly able to understand what he said, but she knew one thing, that the more she came to learn about him, the more she wanted to know. A d.e.s.i.r.e appeared within Harleen, a d.e.s.i.r.e to uncover what was beneath the person in front of her; Averill.

Averill shook his head slightly as he had a mocking expression showing whilst gazing at the stupefied woman in front of him. But he could see the d.e.s.i.r.e within her eyes, the d.e.s.i.r.e to learn more. And that alone made Averill slightly more interested in Harleen's psychological prowess. But even if Harleen didn't have that kind of ability, Averill would still have had taken her and seen for himself if her other 'hidden' ability inside of her could help him in the future or not.

"Now tell me, Harleen Quinzel, do you understand your position? From this point of, you will not have any freedom other than to stay with me and my group." Averill wanted to make it clear from the start, that no one, not even her with a seemingly important task, will be able to have much to say in what he wants to do.

"I don't care, I understand what you're saying-" Before Harleen could continue speaking, she could hear a muffled explosion outside the house they were in.

Averill slowly stood up from the chair, he still wore the mocking expression on his face. "It seems like that they decided to show up earlier than I expected." He gave a small laugh before walking towards the entrance of the house. Averill didn't bother sensing the area around, as he knew that they would appear today.

"… Who are you talking about?" Harleen also stood up from the chair and followed right behind Averill, she had a curious expression showing on her face as she thought of who wanted to create trouble for Averill. 'I really wonder who would be brave enough to fight someone who can teleport around who is also merciless to others.' Harleen could only think of heroes and villains that stood on top of the pyramid.

"I am talking about some people that are going to play an important role in the near future. To keep it simple, they are pieces of a chess play, they have their roles to do. And until then, they will follow what I have set up for them." Averill's mocking smile turned into another type, the type of smile where only viciousness could be felt from it.

May it be luckily or not, Harleen wasn't able to see that vicious smile of Averill. It might have scared her for a brief moment, but it could also have given her some more clues and information about what type of person Averill was. Harleen simply nodded as she trekked right behind of Averill with a bright smile on her face.

It didn't take long before Averill and Harleen went outside the mansion. And in front of the mansion, stood three males. The man wearing the bat costume, a large man holding onto a trident, and the last one was wearing a fully covered red costume with a flash on his c.h.e.s.t.

"! Batman, Aquaman and Flash!" Harleen knew who they were, as they were part of the Justice League, the group of heroes who kept the world safe from villains. Harleen's mind went quickly to overdrive, there had to be a reason why three of the Justice League members would work together to catch one 'villain', it could only mean that Averill was more of a threat than Harleen could think of. 'Teleportation shouldn't be his only power! With such a line-up of Heroes, no normal person with ability would be able to handle that.' Harleen knew how the human mind worked, and any normal human wasn't much different than a person with powers and abilities.

"You finally came out. Where are the other two that were with you yesterday?" Batman asked in a deep voice as he stared into Averill's red sharp eyes.

It was at this moment that Batman, Aquaman and Flash got a call through their earpiece. "I was defeated! The woman you spoke about who was with the group of three, was here with Catwoman. Her name is Laura, and the leader with military clothes is named Averill." Wonder Woman's voice sounded weak and hoarse.

Brief moments later, another voice sounded out in their earpiece. "I… I was also defeated. The bald man, he is super strong and fast… A single slap sent me through a dozen buildings, and I am barely able to keep my conscious. The bald man was protecting Joker." Green Lantern's voice also sounded out, his voice was rather weak, and they could hear him breathing heavily.

The expressions of Batman, Aquaman and Flash changed drastically. It could only mean one thing, that the man in front of them; Averill, had predicted their movements. And the two people under him were strong enough to defeat Green Lantern and Wonder Woman seemingly easily.

If Averill had such strong people under him, could only mean that he was able to keep them due to either two reasons. One being him being stronger than them, and the other reason, he was the mastermind of their group. Batman, Flash and Aquaman deeply hoped that Averill was the mastermind of their group with no strength, but Batman could clearly remember their last meeting, the sensation of death he felt was much stronger on Averill than the two other people with him.

"We have to try to defeat him now when he's all alone. If Laura and the bald man comes back, we wouldn't be able to handle all of them." Batman thought through everything quickly, and this was the best solution for them right now. Because they might not be able to get Averill alone in the future from his two other friends, underlings or what they were for him.

"I agree!" Aquaman spoke with a grin appearing on his face as he began spinning his trident which was in his right hand.

And the moment Aquaman spoke, Flash had already began running. Running straight towards Averill, he had easily broken through sound barrier as he readied a punch towards Averill's face. And as their distance wasn't too far away from each other, Flash arrived in front of Averill in mere milliseconds.

But something made Flash scared, he could see that the pupils of Averill easily following his movements. Yet Flash didn't hesitate to attack Averill, he sent out a straight punch on Averill's face, hoping to at least deal some injures on him.

Yet the moment Flash's fist arrived on Averill's face, he felt like he had punched something much harder than any metal in the world. Even metal and mountains would be dented by his punch, but Flash felt like he couldn't even do any single harm towards a single cell on Averill's face. Whilst Flash couldn't injure Averill, Flash's fist broke in the contact to his face. Flash felt like that his bones were pulverised with that punch alone.

Flash rushed back, he appeared back to his location, yet he was now kneeling on the ground whilst holding onto his broken hand. He wanted yell out in pain, but he grit his teeth as he loudly roared. "Don't fight him! He was able to follow my movements and his face is harder than anything I've touched!"

This mere comment from Flash made both Batman and Aquaman understand what kind of person they were now facing.

"Don't think of escaping… I have been holding back my itch so far, but that punch made me a little bit angry." Averill's soothing voice sounded out for Batman, Aquaman, Flash and Harleen to hear, Averill also had a bright smile on his face. But the one thing that made his expression scary was his eyes, his red eyes that were sharply gazing at Flash.
