The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 50 - Hidden d.e.s.i.r.e

Averill could easily see that Harleen wasn't joking around, and that made it even funnier for Averill. His smile didn't vanish on his face, and when Averill was about to say something, the waiter returned to their table and placed a cup in front of him and one in front of Harleen.

"Sir, this is a Darjeeling tea with a hint of mint. And for the miss's, I've brought a cup of black coffee as ordered." The waiter said in a bright voice whilst gazing at Averill's face.

"Ooh, thank you." Harleen thanked the waiter as she raised the cup of coffee and drank a little bit of it, but her eyes were staring at Averill, as she knew that he would answer the question she asked earlier.

Averill raised the cup of tea and drank a small gulp of it, after having tasted it, he gave a short glance towards the waiter and said. "It's good." And accompanied with his soothing voice, it sounded like an angel thanking the offering he had gotten.

The waiter almost squealed out due to Averill's soothing voice, but she held it in as she returned inside the café.

It was then that Averill placed some money on the table, and after having done that, he simply used his Magical Power to teleport himself and Harleen to his home. He was sitting on a comfortable chair, and Harleen was placed on another chair that seemed just as comfortable.

As Harleen was quite surprised and shocked by the sudden change of environment, she managed to hear a soothing voice near her that had hints of mockery and joy in it.

"You are now within my grasp, don't think you can easily escape." Averill was mocking Harleen, but even Averill couldn't deny that he felt joy in taking Harleen. 'It will take too long before I can get my memories back, I need more information. Let's see how useful Harleen will be.' The smile on Averill's face became wider as he thought of it.

"Woah…! Are you a villain or something? But I have never heard of you before." Harleen asked in a curious tone, but she was far from afraid. For the first part, Harleen could easily guess that Averill wasn't a hero, due to the presence he was giving off and the signs on his personality and body language. In Harleen eyes from the quick observation from earlier; Averill was a man who would do anything he wished to do, and nothing would hold him back.

It didn't surprise Harleen that Averill was able to teleport himself and her to somewhere else either too. That was because this world had many people with different abilities and powers. Harleen didn't care about what Averill said either, it had rather made her more curious of wanting to find out Averill's memories and who he was as a person.

"Villain? Ahaha! If me doing what I want makes me a villain, then I can't deny it. You could rather say that I dislike the very thought of being a hero who saves others." The soothing voice of Averill was becoming slightly colder and did his eyes, his eyes squinted slightly without him even knowing.

"Really?!" Harleen couldn't help but be shocked over his response. She quickly sat straight up in the chair and laid the cup of coffee on the table near her. "From my experience in knowing the human mind, people dislike what they might have d.e.s.i.r.ed in the past." Harleen had quickly began trying to analyse Averill's thinking.

The wide smile on Averill turned into a relaxed smile as he stared at Harleen, he took the cup of warm tea and drank another mouthful. "Past d.e.s.i.r.es you say?" The tone Averill used was full of mockery towards Harleen. "How about you watch this first, as it will explain faster than my mouth." And as he spoke, Averill pointed towards Harleen.

Before Harleen could question him, she had to close her eyes as she a scene in front of her. It was the same scene and memory that Averill and the System saw, where he was surrounded by people who pretty much loved the sight of his defeat. The scene that Harleen saw was much clearer than what Averill had first observed, Harleen could clearly see the details on the scene, the anger and hatred that Averill was showing couldn't be simply understood by normal people and the injures he had suffered was more than enough to break any men and women, may they be heroes of justice or villains of chaos.

The more Harleen observed the scene, the faster her heart began beating, what Harleen observed was more in details than what Averill and the System could do, because Harleen knew what to look after. Both in Averill's expression, body, and even the other people surrounding Averill. 'Everyone has such clear expression showing on their faces…' The more Harleen gazed at it, the more she felt a bond between herself and Averill, she felt like she was starting to understand him better than what anyone else could.

It only lasted for half a minute before Averill took away the clear scene from Harleen's mind. Averill had already emptied his cup of tea, but he refilled it with a simple thought before continuing to enjoy drinking the tea.

"Do you understand now?" Averill asked a simple question before continuing. "I most likely didn't have any past d.e.s.i.r.es of wanting a hero to save me." The smile on Averill face was clearly showing how he mocked that idea, he didn't need anyone to save him, because he would rather use his own hands and strength to get what he wants.
