The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 73 - Having a blast watching

Averill had planned from the beginning to let this happen, for Saitama and Laura to face Spectre. Even whilst knowing that Laura was growing stronger rapidly, it wasn't good enough in Averill's opinion. And on the other hand, Saitama is a moronic person with a hard head and mixed emotions inside of him.

"Even so… He must choose. To lay down and die or stand up and fight, there are none other options…" Averill muttered as he shook his head slightly whilst gazing at the battle situation slowly changing where Spectre was injuring Saitama and was cornering Laura with all the weapons flying around.

It was then that a voice sounded out at Averill's side. [Host still hasn't accomplished the mission. A reminder for Host, Host only has six more days to accomplish the mission before it will be deemed as a failure.] The System spoke out in its monotone mechanic voice.

"I know." Averill replied without any hesitation before continuing to speak a beat later. "I won't fail the mission because I know I will be able to accomplish it. But right now, there is something slightly interesting happening in front of me; the liberation of a man that has kept his personality locked deep inside of himself for too long." Averill's usual weird smile curved upwards into a smirk.

Not even a second passed by before Averill raised his eyebrows slightly as he gazed to the left where he saw other beings like Spectre heading towards the fight between Spectre versus Laura and Saitama. But even whilst Averill did notice it, he didn't do anything about it because he felt something… "Those beings are in fact Spectre himself. In fact, they seem more like complicated clones of his." Averill muttered yet again whilst sharply gazing at everything happening. "I told you earlier, Saitama, do or die. And if you try escaping, death will be your only result…" The tone Averill was using was deep yet soothing, but his eyes were staring onto Saitama.

Averill didn't bother gazing too much at Laura, but that was mainly because he already knew that Laura was a pawn that was in his own palm that he could control at any given time. And even if Spectre tried killing Laura, Averill would crush that bug before it could happen.

[Host, the chances for Saitama and Laura to win this battle is at 0,01%, is Host sure that no measures should be taken?] The System asked as it could easily tell that Spectre would be able to easily defeat Saitama and Laura even if they became stronger during the fight.

"… And you call yourself a System? Ahaha." Averill couldn't hold back his laughter. "You're saying that their chances are at 0,01%, right? Then my opinion is at that their chances are sitting at 10%." Averill's gaze went slightly further ahead of the battlefield, where two human beings were together, Averill flickered his hand which made a portal near the two human beings which was leading them towards the battlefield.

On the other side of the fake universe that Spectre had made, Harleen and Jack were sitting on a tree stump. They had been taken here by Laura when Spectre appeared once again on the planet made of sand.

"Ahahaha, did you see that? That was Spectre, the seemingly strongest being. I would love to see a fight between Averill and Spectre." Jack laughed loudly as he mocked and had fun, but he was thinking of other stuff meanwhile blabbering like a fool. 'From what I can tell by the little I saw, Saitama and that chick; Laura will be having a hard time defeating Spectre. Which means, they have to stall for enough time for Averill to get here.'

And whilst Jack was laughing like a madman, Harleen had a downcast expression as anger slowly boiled inside of her as she had to listen to the madman – Joker. "Can you SHUT UP for a moment!?" Harleen couldn't help but to yell at Joker as his laughter was piercing her brain and she couldn't even think straight due to that.

Jack's laughter died down slowly as he gazed at Harleen. "Why? Are you perhaps thinking of ways to get out of this pickle? But haven't you seen yet? We're on a planet, all alone, ahaha!" Jack's voice was loud, and his laughter was even louder.

Before Harleen could say anything else, something appeared by their side, it was a green circle with a picture inside of it, it was the planet made of sand and a battle happening between Saitama, Laura versus Spectre.

"Oh… this is interesting…!" Jack couldn't' hold back his curiosity as he leaned forward and gazed at the fight happening, and for some reason, he was easily able to see what was happening even as they were moving very fast, much faster than what normal people could see.

Even Harleen was able to see everything in detail, yet she wasn't like Joker who had lost the sense of everything as he gazed through the portal. She turned around and looked around with her eyes furrowed slightly, after not finding anything, she turned towards the portal. But Harleen wasn't done yet, her lips parted ways as her voice sounded out. "Averill, this has to be your doing. Why do you want us to see this battle happening when you can easily deal with the problem?" Harleen was slightly confused over this, she was able to tell that Laura and Saitama were losing against Spectre.

A voice did sound out, but it wasn't Averill's voice… "It is because Averill wants to see if all of us are worth his time! Ahaha, Averill, you're a smart bastard, ahahah!" Jack laughed loudly as he could easily figure out why Averill didn't help or do anything. "If I had to say, he ran away when he sensed Spectre was coming, just for this to happen. Everything is as he planned it to be."

"…" Harleen wanted to refute, but the more she thought of it, the more she could see that the explanation Joker said might actually be correct… Harleen was wearing a sweater with long sleeves, she rolled up her sleeves as she focused on the battle. "If you want us to help, you should have said so. Why make it hard to understand…" Harleen muttered to herself as she mainly focused on Spectre.

Whilst Harleen was focusing on Spectre, Jack was focusing on Laura and Saitama. Harleen was trying to figure out how to defeat Spectre whereas Jack was trying to find faults in Laura and Saitama and their cooperation in the battle.

Even if Jack might be crazy, it couldn't be denied that he was easily able to see through both enemies and allies. That was at least how he was able to fight strongly against the Justice League without being on the losing end every single time.

And even if Harleen was best at figuring out the mental health of people, she also had a talent to see faults in others. May it be something small like; having a routine whilst doing stuff as fighting, or something larger like; what might make them lose their focus and calmness.

Yet again, back in the small bubble of space. Averill had a broad smile plastered on his face. He could tell that Spectre knew absolutely everything that was happening inside of this pocket reality, and even in the real Universe, which was why Averill did a small trick too. He severed the connected Harleen and Jack had with this Universe. They did no longer have any fates, and no Omniscience being would be able to see what they're doing any longer.
