We met up with the retired adventurers outside the village chief's house. After explaining our plan to them and making sure everyone was on board, we split up and started patrolling the village. If someone found the undead, they would yell so everyone would know where they are.

Bella and I stayed together, since we were both beginner adventurers. Everyone agreed that this was safest, and wouldn't have it any other way. We moved between the houses, making our way around the west side of the village.

The cemetery was slightly to the north of the village, so we assumed the undead would come from there. Unfortunately, night fell awhile ago, so the undead should have already been summoned. Not knowing where it was, we set our patrols all across the village.

"UNDEAD SPOTTED!" A yell came from the south of the village. Bella and I nodded to each other. I held her in my arms as I ran full speed to the location of the yell. After a moment, I could her the sounds of fighting taking place and quickly put Bella on the ground before unsheathing my sword from my waist.

Now was the moment we had been waiting for. Everyone else who heard the yell came running. The part of the plan they would be helping with was setting up a blockade so the undead couldn't escape easily.

All the retired adventurers held up their weapons as they blocked off all the exits between the houses. The only ones who were fighting were the man who found the undead and the undead itself. I circled to behind the undead before Tenda who was in opposite me in the barricade gave me the signal to go.

As I ran at the undead from behind, I imagined the mana within me forming a light along the edges of my sword. We had planned for me to fight the undead, since I could use light magic, which was a major weakness to any undead monster, since they were creatures of dark magic.

As I closed in on it, the undead somehow must've realized I was there, since it turned around to block my attack. "Too late." I whispered under my breath. I swung my sword at the arm it swing out to block my sword.

Shlick! My sword sliced cleanly through the undead's arm, separating it at the elbow. The extended arm fell to the floor as I jabbed at the undead's torso, hoping to end this quickly.

However, the undead was not slow at all, easily moving out of range of my jab. I ended up piercing through empty air, but I had expected as much. Pushing off the ground I shot forward, unleashing a series of attacks at the undead. My high agility and dexterity allowed me to keep attacking at a high pace, keeping the undead on the defensive.

Slowly, new injuries started appearing on the undead. A cut above the eyes, scratches all over it's torso, and a deep wound along it's right t.h.i.g.h.

Finally, the undead couldn't keep up and stumbled a bit. I saw the opportunity to end this and dove forward to sever it's neck. The undead knew it was done for, and trying to take me down with it, swung it's left arm at my head.

I lowered my head below it's swinging arm, easily dodging the attack, having seen it happening beforehand through my Unqiue Skill, Eyes of the Future. In a single sweep, I took off its head as the villagers cheered for me.

I stood straight up and took a few deep breaths to catch my breath. This was the hardest fight I'd been through since coming to this world. Sure it was one opponent, but he was strong, even with my light magic.

I looked over at Bella and she gave me a thumbs up, causing me to smile. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Tenda walking over so I turned to face him.

"You did a great job against that undead. Leave the Lesser Lich to me. Just help me find it and then we can report to the village chief." He patted my back as he congratulated me on a fight well fought.

I nodded in agreement and started spreading my Presence Detection as far as I could. I could sense lots of of the villagers hiding in their houses, and even a few fanged rabbits in the tall grass just outside the village near us.

Bella did the same as everyone split ways so we could cover more ground in the second part of the fight. Now it was just a race against the sun to see if we can find the Lesser Lich before the sun rises again.

Dawn was quickly approaching. Everyone we passed as we did our patrols started looking more an more anxious. We hoped to find the Lesser Lich by the end of the night, but it was starting to seem that wouldn't happen.

Something had been bothering me since a few hours ago. There was a small forest just past the cemetery to the north, but no one seemed to be searching it. I asked one of the village's retired adventurers about it and he explained that it was holy ground, so it was hard to believe an undead would hide there.

I looked at Bella, and realized she had the same thought as me. That was most likely where the Lesser Lich was. We thanked the villager and continued our patrol. The moment no one could see us, we quickly left the village and moved in a wide loop to the forest. Once we were by the cemetery, we pushed out Presence Detection to it's limits and almost instantly, something entered our range. It was the Lesser Lich, without a doubt.

We both backed off and went to find Tenda, so he could collect all of the village's retired adventurers for the final fight. It was time to finish this monster, once and for all.
