Once we were in the village, we asked a few people if there was an inn. To our confusion, none of them answered, and instead just kind of ignored us. It was as if they were being openly hostile to us. Had we done something wrong? I tried to recall, but couldn't think of anything we could have done in the five minutes we were here.

We realized we weren't going to get anywhere like this, so instead we looked for the largest home in the village, which we assumed to be the village chief's house. Tenda knocked on the door to the house, and after a few moments, someone spoke in a gruff voice from the other side of the door. "Who is it? What do you want?"

"We are three adventurers traveling about. We were wondering if there was a place we could stay the night in this village, but no one has even been willing to talk to us." Tenda answered the man through the door. "Did something happen here? Everyone seems to be on edge."

Finally, the door opened and we could see the man we were talking to. He was an older man with grey hair and a long white beard. His eyes were a light blue, and he had crinkles around his eyes, proof of happier days. "Come in. It's dangerous to talk while outside."

Once we were all inside, he sat us down around his table and started explaining. "It was about six weeks ago. An adventurer came limping into the village severely injured. We tried to treat him but no matter what we did, the wounds kept getting worse. Eventually he succ.u.mbed to his wounds. We buried him on the outskirts of town, where we bury all of the people who pass away in this village.

That night, a disturbing sound came from the cemetery. A few of the men who were once adventurers went to check it out only to find the adventurer clawing his way out from the ground."

The old village chief shuddered as he described what he saw. "The man was definitely dead, even after he clawed his way to the surface. His eyes were already missing, and a worm was wriggling in his nose. he looked like an undead. No, he WAS an undead."

"The village's retired adventurers managed to cut him down, but he was far stronger and faster than we expected. He managed to break the bones of a few of the men before we even got a hit on him. Since then, every night another person rises from the same hole he climbed out of. They all look the same as he did, even though his corpse was completely burned to make sure it didn't happen again."

"We have been terrified of anything and anyone we don't know since this started, so please excuse the villagers behavior." The old man finished his explanation as such. His next words surprised me quite a bit. "If you three are truly adventurers, do you think you could search for the culprit? We will pay you handsomely, even though we don't have a guild here."

"Hmmm... I think I know what's behind this. The enemy is probably a Lesser Lich. They are known for being able to create one undead repeatedly, though that one undead will have more power than when he was alive." Tenda explained to Bella and me. I was glad he decided to explain, since I would have had no idea what a Lesser Lich was, without an explanation.

"I'm confident in being able to defeat one by myself, though I'd be glad if you two would have my back. The opponent that we will need to fight won't be the Lich himself, rather this dead adventurer. Once the undead is defeated, our mission is to find the Lich and defeat it. Lichs can use a weak form of dark magic, so we will need to be wary of that." Tenda continued confidently.

Bella suddenly asked if she could talk to me privately in the other room, and with the village chief's permission, dragged my by the sleeve to a corner of the second room where they couldn't hear us. "I'm worried. I think the reason Tenda was injured may have been because of that undead. What if he can't defeat it?" Bella looked at me, worry written all over her face.

"Well, if it's high speed that we need to deal with, I can probably match this undead. The problem I'm worried about would be that he is definitely stronger than me." I said while I started thinking. A moment later I had an idea. "I know how we can beat this undead without a problem."

Bella looked at me in surprise. "How can you be sure?"

"Well, before I go back and explain, I need to ask you something. Tenda. How much would you trust him?"

"Hmm... He has an alias, and that is only given if he is an exemplary adventurer. I'm sure we can trust him with almost anything."

After a bit more discussion, we went back to the room where the village chief and Tenda were waiting. "I have an idea of how we can take down the undead quickly, so we have time to find the Lesser Lich."

Both of them leaned in as I explained my idea. After a bit of discussion, everyone agreed to it. Now, all that needed to happen was for the undead adventurer to come out so we could play.
