After the door closed behind us, we walked over to the quest board to see what quests we might be able to take. A quick scan of the board was all it took to see that almost every quest at our rank had been taken. Bella opened her mouth to say something when I got spun around by someone behind me.

"Who do you think you are, huh? Talking to the Guildmaster like buddies. You're clearly just a newbie at E rank!" A tall man with huge arms was getting really close to me while yelling in my face.

"Do you have a problem with me? If so, just say it!" I didn't back down one bit and faced him head on. I knew how to deal with these types of thugs. Get them angry and they'll lose all sense of reason. Once that happens, it's easy to guess what they'll do next. On top of that, I had my Unique Skill Eyes of the Future, so I was even less worried.

I activated Eyes of the Future right away, and immediately, saw his left arm swing at my jaw in an uppercut. I leaned back as his arm slid right past my nose, missing me entirely and angering him further.

"Gah!" He yelled as he started raining fists down on me. I kept moving out of the trajectory of his blows, causing him to nearly blow his top.

"Is that all you can do newbie?! Can't even throw a punch, can ya!" He growled, trying to provoke me. I just smiled at him as I suddenly vanished from his view.

"What!?" He spun around to search for me out of confusion. It was a natural reaction to search for someone who disappeared right before your eyes. I pulled back my arm and landed a solid blow on his jaw, sending him staggering back a few steps before falling to the ground. I stopped there, since I didn't want to get in trouble with the guild.

At that moment, a guild worker who was even taller and more burly looking than the man I was fighting came over and stood between us. "Sir," He said while looking at me. "Please don't attack anymore. It is against guild rules to fight in the guild. I will take him to the infirmary and report what happened. Don't worry, you won't get in trouble. He's the one who started this after all." The guild worker smiled, clearly trying to hold back a laugh.

"S-sure." I stuttered a bit, wondering why he only intervened now. "Before you go, can you tell me why you only stopped us after I punched him?"

"Well, this guy just recently got ranked up to C rank, and has been causing problems for the the guild by messing with lower ranked adventurers at every possible chance. When I saw you dodging all his fists, I decided it would be a great chance to let him have a taste of his own medicine." He explained to me while picking the dazed man off the floor. "Sorry for using you like that."

"It's no problem really. I've dealt with people like him before, so don't sweat it." I said, dismissing his apology.

As the man was being dragged away, he blinked a few times and gave me a look that sent shivers down my spine. "I'll kill you for this. Watch yourself." He said, just loud enough for me and the guild worker dragging him to hear.

I pretended I hadn't heard and went back to Bella who had watched the fight and it's aftermath without saying anything. "You ok? I feel like you've been a little too quiet since we got here." I asked her a tinge of concern in my voice.

"I'm fine. There has just been so much happening today, it's taking a while to absorb it all." She shook her head to try and clear it. Even when she was spacing out she was cute.

"Let's go back for today. Tomorrow, we can get a quest as long as we are here a bit before noon." I said as I turned to leave the guild. We both left the building and went back to the inn. We spent the rest of the day checking our bags and making sure we had everything we needed for whatever quests my come up.

Late that night, laying down on a roof not far from the adventurers guild were three people all dressed in dark clothes. Their faces were all covered by hoods that only let a little light hit their chins. They lay there for a long time, waiting for something to happen.

In the distance, a single fire signal was sent into the air, and disappeared after a few seconds. No noise could be heard, and it only lit up the area for a few moments.

Instantly, the three people jumped up and ran along the rooftops without slowing down, even when jumping from one roof to the next. After reaching the northeast edge of the city, they dipped out of sight and disappeared below the rooftops. No one had seen them, and no one had heard them either.

That was the case for the entire city, except for one guard who had been spacing out in the belltower of the central guardhouse. He shook his head and cleared his thoughts just in time to see the three shadows disappear below the rooftops. "I need to report this, don't I." The guard said, now wide awake.
