After splitting ways with Paul and Gina, Bella and I went back to the inn to prepare for the quest. The four of us had decided to leave shortly after dawn tomorrow morning, so we needed to be fully prepared before we went to bed.

We still had our tent and other equipment from Desil, so we were mostly prepared already. The only thing we still needed to get was food. Bella decided that she would go get the food herself, so out of boredom, I started wandering around the area near our inn.

Twenty minutes later, I found myself near a small park where a few children were running around as their parents watched from the benches near a fountain. It was a picture of peace itself. I stood there for a few minutes, letting the moment sink in.

I hadn't thought much about Earth since coming here, but I suddenly started comparing how different it was here versus Earth. Everyone on Earth more or less had somewhere to go, or something to do. Not many people let themselves rest for even moment. Here however, everyone seemed to live in the moment. Not many people planned far into the future. It was a very different mentality, and I loved it.

While I was thinking about the differing mentalities, I noticed something shifting behind the trees on the far side of the park. Overcome by my curiosity, I walked over to the spot where I thought I had seen something moving.

Brushing aside the branches and leaves, I moved away from the park and into the small, tightly packed grove of trees. I looked around, checking to see if there was anything that could have been the thing that caught my eye. After surveying the area for a bit without finding anything, I decided to activate Presence Detection. Maybe it was a monster that could hide from view.

Almost instantly, Presence Detection picked up the families playing in the park along with a few small animals in the area. I was about to give up on whatever caught my eye, when Presence Detection suddenly caught something. The size of that something was no larger than my hand, but it's aura had an immense amount of MP. I turned my head to the side and looked directly at the location that it was hiding at.

The shadows of the branches created a dizzying effect as they swayed in the light breeze, but I was positive that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. There was nothing to see. Just a few twigs and leaves were sliding along the ground from the breeze. After a moment, I realized that something was off. There was one area that the leaves seemed to be stuck to the ground. Whatever was hiding itself, seemed to be using light magic to create an illusion of invisibility.

I thought back on the details I had learned from Bella about light magic. The best way to counter light magic was to use dimensional magic. That was what Bella had said. I had never used dimensional magic before, but I had an idea of what to do. I focused on the beams of light streaming in through the cover of branches and leaves, and mentally pictured the distortion of space, making an area that light could not pass through.

The moment I activated my magic, an animal materialized before me. At first glance, it looked like an ordinary bird, but I quickly realized that I was wrong. There were no feathers on it's body, it was covered in tiny scales instead. I almost fell on my b.u.t.t from shock. This was a baby dragon. It looked at me with it's small intelligent eyes. There was something akin to fear in them.

I suddenly had a weird idea. What would happen if I kept this baby dragon? Was it even possible to tame monsters? I immediately decided to take this little guy to the guild and find out. I took out a simple leather pouch from my bag and faster than the little dragon could react, picked him up and placed him in the pouch. I then took out a piece of dried meat from my bag, which happened to be leftovers from our journey to Feido, and gave it to the baby dragon who was trying to thrash about in the pouch. The moment he smelled the meat, he stopped freaking out and calmed down as he munched on the food. Seeing how hungry he seemed to be, I took out the last of the dried meat and slowly fed him as I walked to the adventurers guild.

To my surprise, the moment I entered the guild Guildmaster Brandon called out to me from behind the quest counter. "Lucifer! What brings you back so soon? I thought you wouldn't be back for another few days."

"Well, Bella went out to get food for the trip and left me alone at the inn. I wasn't planning on coming here, but some things happened while I was on a walk, and now I need your help." I explained as I leaned on the quest counter.

"Oh? What could have happened on a walk that you need my help? Did you get into a fight with some other adventurers?" Guildmaster Brandon looked me up and down, checking if there were signs of a scuffle on my clothing. "It doesn't seem like you got into a fight."

"I definitely didn't get into a fight." I decided to ask him directly. "I was wondering if it's possible to tame a monster."

The Guildmaster seemed to have figured something out from my question, as he suddenly fell deep into his thoughts. A few minutes later he looked back up and nodded his head at me. "Yes, it is possible to tame a monster. However, you would need to find one when it is still a baby. It's not as simple as you would expect."

I lifted the pouch gently onto the counter and said, "I already have. I just need to know how to tame it."

Guildmaster Brandon took a peak at the monster in the pouch before letting out a shocked gasp. "I-i-is th-th-tha-that a d-dragon?" He stuttered as he asked.

I nodded my head in confirmation and gave him a moment to let the shock pass. I was sure there would be lots of questions, and I didn't want this conversation to be overheard by the guild workers.

At my request, we moved to his office and almost three hours of discussion later, I finally had an answer to my question. Taming a monster is quite simple as long as it was a baby and I had the same magical affinity as it. This dragon could use light magic, so it was clearly a Light Dragon. I just needed to feed it my magic as it grew, and eventually I would be able to feel a connection between us through our auras.

I smiled as I walked back to the inn. I would soon start taming a Light Dragon. I could barely contain my excitement.
