Monsters. I woke up with a start. I was sure a monster was at my throat, and I was breathing heavily because of it. I activated my Presence Detection to verify that there were no monsters nearby. Immediately, I picked up a powerful aura, causing me to jump out of the tent, sword in hand.

Crash! The tent was knocked to the ground as it raised a cloud of dust. A massive figure covered the sky above me, making me shiver involuntarily. the monster was a gruesome combination of body parts. There were multiple arms coming out from it's back and it had six legs on each side of it's body. There were three blood-red eyes staring me down as drool spilled out of its gaping maw.

I held my sword in front of me and tried to use ice magic to freeze it's legs. After realizing I couldn't use my magic, I started freaking out. At that moment, the monster grabbed me with two of it's arms and lifted me to it's mouth.

My eyes shot open as I sat up, sweat running down my face. I was shivering uncontrollably, fear still lingering in my heart. It was a dream. Just a dream.

I activated Presence Detection, and instantly felt reassured. Bella, Gina, Paul, and Velli all appeared in my detection range. Slowing my breathing I cleaned my face with some water magic and crawled out of the tent.

"Luke, why are you awake?" Bella asked when she saw me leaving the tent.

"Bad dreams. Made it hard to sleep." I replied.

"Well, it's almost time to get up anyway. We might as well get an early start so we can finish quickly." Gina spoke up.

A few minutes later, Paul was woken up while Bella and I got out food for breakfast. I passed some food to Bella, and we ate in silence.

After taking our tents apart, we cleaned up the area and equiped our armour and weapons. Paul led the group while I stayed at the back as usual.

The sun was situated high in the sky now. We had investigated most of the forest, and had collected lots of data. The most dangerous monster we had surveyed was the Frenzy Rhino. Besides the dead one we had found the previous day, we discovered three other Frenzy Rhinos that were very much alive.

As a group, we decided to head back to Feido. We were excited to finally be returning to the city. It's been three days, and I was positive we all wanted to relax.

"I better get the bathroom first when we get back." Bella said as we walked. I didn't want to argue with her, so I easily gave in.

Soon, we could see the edge of the forest. It was a relief to have a change of scenery. "Hey, Gina and Paul. Would you guys want to join us for a meal?" I asked.

"We need to go to the adventurers guild to report first. It'll be a little longer until we can enjoy real food, but yes. We would love to." Gina replied. Paul chuckled a bit as he nodded his head in assent.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the forest, shaking the trees as it went. "What was that?!" Gina cried out in fear.

In the distance, we heard trees snapping as something massive crashed through the forest. "Paul! Give me your bags, take Gina, and run! We're sprinting to the city!" I said as I grabbed Bella and held her in my arms.

The moment I verified Paul had picked up Gina, I took the bags from him and put them into my own bag. Their bags were s.u.c.k.e.d into my enhanced bag, without adding any weight. We nodded at each other and took off in the direction of the city. Paul's agility was not too high, but it was still better than most E rankers since his overall level was much higher. Even so, my agility was almost one hundred and fifty above his. I had quickly created a gap between us before realizing I was far ahead. I slowed down just enough to let him catch up quickly so I could speak to him.

"I'm going to run ahead and notify the city guards. Keep running and don't stop until help arrives." I said. Paul didn't respond he just nodded his head to let me know he understood. With that, I sped up as I bolted towards the city. Soon enough the city walls were looming over me.

As I was about to call out to the city guards, A thunderous roar followed by crashing noises came rolling over from the direction of the forest. On the city walls, many guards were already running about as the sound of bells was ringing throughout the city.

Realizing that the city was already on alert, I put Bella down and said, "I'm going to go help Paul. Get inside the city and stay safe."

Before she had time to respond, I had already turned and ran off to help Paul.

Lucifer had run ahead with Bella to inform the city about our predicament. I was already out of breath, but I knew that if I stopped running, Gina and I would probably die.

A few minutes after they had run ahead, another roar came from the forest, causing me to take a look behind me. A massive figure was running on multiple legs as it crashed it's way out of the forest. For the first time in my life, I felt fear deep in my bones. This was not an ordinary monster.

I had been running on adrenaline for a few minutes now, but suddenly, a burst of energy flowed through me, helping me run a bit faster. Gina was shivering in my arms as I ran, clearly overcome with paralyzing fear.

Suddenly, a cloud of dust was growing larger in front of me, a small dot in front of it. Quickly, that for turned into the figure of a person. It was Lucifer. He turned around once he reached me and yelled over the sound of the monster rushing towards us, "Hand Gina over to me! I'll carry her so you can run faster!"

I passed Gina over to Lucifer as we ran, hoping beyond a hope they would be safe. I had no more energy to run and without much choice, my body started slowing down.

Lucifer quickly realized I was slowing down and worry filled his expression. After looking me in the eyes, he put on a burst of speed, as he ran towards the city leaving me to continue running by myself.

My mouth formed a slight smile as they disappeared into the distance. Gina could keep living, even if I couldn't. Too bad I wouldn't be able to fulfill our dream with her.

I turned around to face the horrendous monster running right at me. I lifted my shield and wielded my hammer as I prepared for battle. Even if I died, it wouldn't be without a fight.

Almost instantly, the monster was right in front of me. Two arms on it's left side were raised into the air ready to strike me down. I held my shield against the right side of my body and braced for impact.

A moment later, a massive amount of force slammed into my shield, sending an unbelievable amount of pain up my arm as the bone shattered. Even with the shield, I was sent tumbling by the force of the smack.

After that one hit, I could no longer move my body. My vision blurred for a bit as I fought to stay conscious.

Suddenly, a massive shadow blocked my view of the monster. The last thing I remember before blacking out was a numbing feeling spreading throughout my body.
