The New Issei

So I am going to follow the anime for the first two seasons. After that I have two choices and I want to hear your opinions. No idea if they will change my mind when I get there but they might. The first choice is I pick up from where season two left off in the novels and continue with canon. The second choice is I do my own thing and pretty much just mix in parts from canon while making what I want and it will pretty much all be original. The first choice is easier and will probably go by faster since a lot of it can be copied. The second choice is obviously harder and will take longer but it might be interesting to change up and explore that world. Let me know what you all think. Oh and if you are all confused this is for way later in the story and has no impact on stuff right now. I just could not get it out of my head so I decided to ask everyone's opinion.
