The Pokemon Emissary Among Worlds

Chapter 46 - Resolution (1)

[Child, it's good that you decide to meet me this time. I've been trying to find ways to contact you but something's blocking me from reaching this world on my own.]

Okami was puzzled when he realized what the mysterious God just said. "So the update this time was not your doing?"

[The 1st Phase is part of our plan. It is the standard result when an emissary reaches the first milestone and opens the second Gift box. This is beneficial to your kind since it increased the Pokemon's population and the inhabitants are exposed to wild pokemon, thereby easily accepting the pokemon's existence once it becomes a part of this world.]

"Are they supposed to be berserk?"

[No. It should have followed the temperaments similar to what you have inside your memories regarding pokemon. But a rare thing happened wherein all of the Pokemon emissaries have activated the 1st Phase at the same time and a Vile existence was able to add some of his powers during this particular event, contaminating all of the pokemon that teleported inside their respective worlds at the same time.]

Okami frowned when he realized that someone was behind the accident. "But why would someone do that? I could have died because of such machinations."

[We've found out that its true purpose was to destroy the Pokemon emissaries and not let anyone succeed on the assessment.]

"Looks like they failed because I'm alive and kicking."

[You are lucky enough to survive because you are inside Palkia's protection through the blessing of Palkia's Authority. But for the four of your batchmates, they were brutally murdered.]

Okami was not able to respond right away. After a few minutes, he said, "If that culprit's plan was to murder us, then is it safe to assume that the Naruto world is safe while I'm not there?"

[Yes. As long as they don't detect your presence in that world, then everything will be normal. But we still have to eradicate all the traces of the Vile One's powers so that you can proceed with your assessment once again.]

"So what do you want me to do?"

[Since this is our fault and out of your league, we have decided to let you stay inside this dimension for an indefinite amount of time until everything becomes normal once again.]

"How long will it take?"

[I could not tell you how long it would take us to do this. It could take for a few days or could even last for a year.]

Okami knew he had no choice but to comply with their plan. "When will I have to stay here?"

[Right now.]

"Then let me make some arrangements before I stay here for an indefinite span of time. In case everything becomes safe for me to return, I can still go back to Konoha without complications."

[Go ahead and do that. Just tell us what you need to do and we'll do what you want without question as long as it does not break the rules.]

"Then here is my plan..."

=================================================

Okami woke up and knew that he was back inside the Pokemon Center. He realized that he was currently lying on one of the infirmary beds and stood up.

"OKAMI! You fainted again!" Naruto shouted as he touched Okami's forehead. "You're not sick."

"I'm fine, Naruto. Anyway, I've got something to give you." Okami summoned a package that was wrapped in silver clothes. "This is for you, courtesy of the Ketchum clan. Open it later when I give you the signal."

"Is this for me? Thank you, so much!" Naruto received the package and shook it lightly. "Hey, what's inside this box?"

"You'll find it out later. I'll inform you once it is okay for you to do so." Okami searched the shop for Baki and found him talking with Tomiro right beside the PokeMart. "I still have to talk to my employees. Talk to you, later."

"Heh! Fine," Naruto answered as he cheerfully walked beside Sasuke and Sakura and started bragging about his gift.

Okami headed towards the PokeMart. "How's everyone?"

"I should be the one asking you that. Are you okay? I think it's much better for you to rest a bit before doing any strenuous activities." Baki carried a cup of chicken soup and gave it to him. "Drink this. It's good for your stomach."

Okami smiled as he took the cup and drank it. True enough, he felt revitalized once he filled his stomach. "Thank you, old Baki."

"No problem, Okami. Anyway, Tomiro's mom is okay. Even his father is together with the rest of the civilians as they are being protected by a team of ninjas."

Tomiro nodded and grabbed his hands. "Thank you for saving my mom, Boss. I could not imagine what could have happened without you coming for us at that time or it could have been late to save my mom."

Okami gave him a thumbs-up. "You also did a good job defeating the berserk pokemon, Oniisan. That was an excellent use of Pokemon Jutsu using Kangaskhan."

Tomiro scratched his head. "Well, it's all thanks to your teaching, Okami."

Okami turned his attention to Baki and asked, "Where's Anita-chan?"

Baki smiled. "She is still sleeping. Those running and screaming tired her very much."

Okami realized that it was the perfect time to give them what he prepared. He summoned two packages just like that of Naruto's and gave them to Tomiro and Baki. "For you. You should personally open it later after the appropriate time. Remember, don't let anyone touch it."

Both of them nodded.

Tomiro excused himself to attend to his mother while Baki went beside the Healing station and stayed with his daughter.

Baki knew that it was time to contact the Hokage and was about to teleport when he heard the doorbell rang. "I'll open it!"

He then headed towards the main entrance and opened the door. "Shikaku-san, perfect timing. I was about to go to the Hokage's office to tell him something important."

Shikaku slightly tilted his head. "The Hokage is also looking for you, Okami-kun. Would it be convenient for you to go to his office at this time?"

Okami nodded as he approached Shikaku and grabbed his arm.

Shikaku knew what the kid's plan was and readied himself for the coming Jutsu. True enough, they teleported and appeared right at the entrance of the Hokage's office. He massaged his head and said, "I can't seem to get used to this Jutsu."

"It's a big improvement compared to the time when you first tried it," Okami reminded him and chuckled.

Shikaku snorted and led him inside the office.

Shikaku greeted the elders and went directly to Hiruzen. He whispered something to the Hokage and later moved beside the window to let them continue with their discussion.

Hiruzen smiled at Okami and gestured the boy to come near him. "Shikaku told me that you have something you want to report. What is it?"

Okami bowed to the elders before replying. "Yes, Hokage-sama. I've got to do something important and I also want to tell you about the truth behind these attacks."

Homura and Koharu looked at each other without speaking. They then returned their gaze at Okami.

"Go on, Okami-kun. Tell us what you've seen. They're the elders of Konoha and you should fully trust them."

Okami nodded. "It's like this. I've already told you about the reason why Zapdos was able to enter this world. And you already know that there are two more legendary pokemon that appeared, Moltres the firebird and Articuno the icebird. At first, it was only temporary and they should have been repelled back to the Pokemon world but something happened. I don't know what it is but the three birds were able to fully assimilate the energy needed to be able to live freely in this world, thus, breaking the barrier completely."

"Are you saying that they're not under your powers, Okami-kun?" Koharu interrupted him.

Okami shook his head. He remembered the barrier from the Yu Yu Hakusho anime, which prevented the S-class monsters to reach earth, and used this particular reason to explain the scenario. "You see, there's a barrier that prevents any pokemon from entering this world. But the barrier became weaker as time passed by until it could not hinder the strong pokemon from entering because there was no one to maintain the barrier."

Homaru frowned. "Then who is the one in charge of this barrier?"

"The Ketchum clan. The barrier needs the clan's spiritual strength to keep the pokemon from invading. But due to the greediness of people, the only one left alive is me. The barrier itself is fully destroyed."

"Then where is the barrier located at?" Koharu was the one to interrogate this time.

Okami pointed up. "They're up in the sky. That was why Zapdos was not seen because the bird was hidden by the clouds. Since the barrier was broken, several pokemon were able to come here as well, that is, in the form of lights. That is the truth I've seen, and I am telling you right now, that pokemon will be living inside this world starting today."

Hiruzen remembered the streaks of lights he saw earlier. "Actually, we've seen the lights that you are referring to. Many of them landed inside this room and we had to fight them."

Okami nodded. "Do you want to hear the good news or the bad news first?"

"The bad news," Hiruzen answered.

Okami nodded. "These pokemon should not have turned berserk but something happened along the way. Only the spiritual powers of the Ketchum clan can appease them but sadly, I am the only one alive. As you have witnessed tonight, they are all bloodthirsty and can't seem to control their minds."

"What about the good news?"

Okami summoned his Rattata. "There are two good news. The first one is that they can be caught using pokeball. With this very reason, we need more Pokemon trainers to catch and train them so that they can be turned into Konoha's weapons as well. It must be emphasized that once they are caught, they only listen to the Pokemon trainer who holds the Pokeball."

Shikaku realized something and interjected. "Do you mean that you can command the pokemon of another Pokemon Trainer by stealing their pokeball?"

Okami gave a slight nod. "Indeed, but it requires complicated steps to successfully steal one. Or you can also tame the wild pokemon by acting friendly towards them but it is harder this way."

Homura stood up. "Is it possible to catch Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno?"

"Yes, it is possible. But it is very hard."

"Why is it hard to catch them, Okami-kun?" Hiruzen asked.

"Because you have to weaken the pokemon before you can catch them. There are also several things that increase the chances like putting them to sleep or harming them via poison, burn, and paralysis," Okami explained the proper way of catching them. "And Zapdos' strength is not weak that any random ninja can fight against."

Hiruzen looked at Rattata who was busily gnawing a block of wood. "Since that is the case, then I believe that it is necessary for us to create a Division that handles Pokemon research. But before we do that, we should determine how many wild pokemon are there living within Konoha's territory. From the forests to the bodies of water, nothing is to be left untouched."

"I agree with you. But I think we should do something about the current potential danger that these pokemon can do towards the village," Homura calmly stated his concern. "Who knows if there are pokemon entering the Academy's vicinity. The students might be hurt."

Hiruzen was about to call the ANBUs when he saw Okami raising his hands. "Okami-kun?"

"I am about to tell you about the second good news, which is to tell you that there is a simpler solution to solve this predicament but it requires great sacrifice," Okami explained as he gave them a sad look.

Shikaku noticed this and asked, "What sacrifice are you talking about?"

"I need to personally go up the sky and repair the barrier at the cost of my vitality. A secret Jutsu from our clan."

Hiruzen realized the sacrifice that Okami was referring to. "How long will it take you to do that?"

"I don't know." Okami gave a deep sigh. "It's the only way we can solve this problem or else a greater problem might arise like the three legendary birds attacking us. Anyway, I'm just here to inform you of my decision. I hope that you can protect Tomiro and Baki while I'm gone. And please treat Naruto well for my sake."

Shikaku's countenance became gloomy once he knew that he could not stop him. "Is there no other way?"

Okami shook his head. "You've seen how Zapdos devastated Konoha in just a single attack. I don't want another scene happening like that again."
