The Pokemon Emissary Among Worlds

Chapter 82 - Bounty Hunting (1)

Okami teleported right in front of Seraph's house, which was located just beside the blacksmith's shop. He knocked on the door and waited for him.

Seraph looked surprised when he realized that Okami was his visitor. He ushered him to enter his house and asked, "Where have you been? I've been looking for you."

Okami took a seat. "I've been training. Anyway, how are you? Did you continue pursuing Lydia?"

Seraph shook his head. "I lose the fight and I intend to fulfill what I have promised. Besides, I am over it already so there's nothing to complain."

"That's good. How about your pokemon? Did they grow stronger for the past year?"

"I already completed my team and they are all evolved as well - Beedrill, Butterfree, Seaking, Graveler, Fearow, and Magneton. I've been doing good in the Ranking as well, even though I am not included in the quarterfinals."

Okami tilted his head slightly. "Ranking? What are you talking about?"

"Well, Mayor Wood Slap started a Pokemon Tournament last year, wherein the top four Pokemon Trainers will receive various rewards. Following the conventional three-pokemon battle, the event lasted for a whole month. Preliminary, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, then the main event between the two finalists. The tournament was well-received by the villagers in Foosha and because of its success, he wanted to make it an annual celebration."

'Is this how the Pokemon League started back in the Pokemon World?' Okami thought. If everything will be smooth-sailing, then this would end up similar to that of the League itself.

"Who is the champion?"

"Hedi Kanto."

Okami was surprised when he found out that it was Hidoshi's dad who became the winner. He was excited to see the next Pokemon Tournament. He wanted to visit Wood Slap and collaborate with him to make it better.

"It's nice to see people truly appreciating the wonders and beauty of Pokemon. Anyway, I came here for another thing. Were you able to find a place for the Trainer School?"

Seraph nodded his head. "It's the unused storage house at the last corner leading to the port. It's been empty ever since Mr. Karry found out your intentions."

"That's good to hear." Okami gazed at Seraph, contemplating if it was right to choose him or not, and asked, "Would you like to become an expert Pokemon Trainer?"

"Of course. Who wouldn't?" Seraph sighed, his expression looking gloomy. "I've seen many strong people in the past - pirates and marines. Pokemon gave me this hope that I can become strong like them as well. Sad to say, many people are more proficient than me when it comes to Pokemon Battles."

"It's because you still don't know the basics of Pokemon Training. I can teach you everything I know about Pokemon. All you have to do is help me manage the school."

Seraph's eyes widened. "Are you sure? If you can do that, then I will make sure that the school will always have people to supervise it."

"Deal?"

"Deal!"

Okami and Seraph shook hands and laughed after sealing the deal. They immediately went to Karry's house and bought the storage area for only 100,000 Beli. After the transaction was completed, he instructed Seraph to hire people to turn the place into a suitable classroom.

When everything was settled, Okami bade goodbye and headed to Wood Slap's house. He saw Cherry cleaning the front yard, who then led him inside the house and informed Wood Slap upstairs that Okami was looking for him.

"Birdie Boy! It's nice to see you back!" Wood Slap offered him some tea even though he knew that Okami was a kid. "Why are you looking for me? Got some new business? I can smell money every time I see you."

Okami's mouth twitched. The anime and manga never showed the true character of Wood Slap because he was a minor character. He never expected that the real Wood Slap was a true-blooded businessman. "Your nose is sharp as ever, mayor. I came here for one thing - it's about the annual tournament you planned to create for the Foosha village."

Wood Slap drank his tea before asking, "What about the tournament?"

"How about partnering with me to create a tournament that can stimulate the blood of hopeful Pokemon Trainers?"

"In what way can you help me?" Wood Slap asked.

Okami explained to him about the Pokemon League and the set-up for the fight. If they wanted to create hype, Okami suggested expanding the battle arena and creating benches for spectators. This way, it could become an official coliseum.

Wood Slap was excited when he realized the feasibility of the plan and how much he could earn from the ticket revenues and betting. But he was still not thoroughly convinced and asked, "We need a lot of capital and I don't have that much money, to begin with."

Okami understood what his intentions were but he did not expose him. After all, he needed someone to handle this even after he leaves the village in the future. "Don't worry, let's do it the traditional way. Fifty-fifty, both capital and income."

Wood Slap grinned and patted his shoulders. "Good! We should start the renovation as soon as possible if we want to have the place ready by next year."

"That's the plan. Since you are the mayor, you can easily hire competent people to build the infrastructure. Just give me the details about the project cost, including the materials needed for construction."

"I will give you the report at the end of this week."

After dealing with Wood Slap, Okami left the house and went back to the Partys Bar, only to find out that Garp and Luffy already left. He suspected that the old man took Luffy to Dadan's house to start the brainwashing, even though he knew that Garp was bound to fail in convincing Luffy to become a Marine.

He looked at his Xtransceiver and noticed that it was almost 3 PM. Even though there were still many customers waiting inside the bar, he instructed Makino, Troy, Glen, and Mackie to come with him because they had to do something important. They complied with his command and left Hidoshi and Cola in their respective areas.

They followed Okami outside the bar until they reached the backyard. Curious, their eyes were all on him.

Okami smiled. "It's time to do something as a group. After all, we are going to be together on our journey to the New World and I need to see your improvement as an individual, as a fighter, and as a Pokemon Trainer."

Makino crunched her fists while grinning. "Took you long enough. I've been dying to show you what I can do."

Okami sneered when he noticed how different her reaction was compared to when he first invited her to become a Pokemon Trainer. Indeed, her confidence soared when she became used to her newfound strength. "I'm excited to see your developments as well."

Mackie yawned as he leaned on the chair. "Why so serious, Boss? Are we going to do something big today?"

Okami nodded his head. "Starting today, we're going to earn a huge amount of Beli."

Maki's eyes lit up and his expression changed all of a sudden. "Now we're talking. What exactly are you planning?"

Troy analyzed what he had heard and asked, "Are we going to do bounty-hunting?"

"Sharp as ever! Yes, we are hunting wanted pirates for the succeeding weeks."

Glen chuckled. "Then what are waiting for? Let's go."

=====================

Inside the 153rd Marine Base at the Shells Town, Lieutenant Robert was busy looking at the papers submitted to his office. Even though he had the highest marine rank in this place, he was still not exempted from doing mundane jobs such as these because his signatures were needed. He took a sip from his cup and continued working when the Den Den Mushi rang. Curious, he looked at the Den Den Mushi and realized that it was one of the ensigns posted at the tower near the port. As soon as he picked up the phone, he heard someone shouting.

"Lieutenant Robert! It's an emergency! Requesting for back-up!"

Robert frowned. "Ensign, did you forget the protocol that we have to follow as a marine?"

"Sorry, Lieutenant. Ensign Jonathan requesting to speak, Lieutenant Robert."

Robert nodded his head. "Why are you acting like a scared bunny?"

"Monsters! Several monsters are about to reach Shells Town. I don't know if it's aggressive or friendly but they are coming to us. Expected to encounter them within ten minutes."

Robert stood up and screamed, "What monsters are you talking about?! Give me the complete details."

Jonathan took a deep breath before he started speaking. "There are four of them. Two people are riding the monsters that look like blue dragons with stripes on their bellies. They are accompanied by a large bird and a giant turtle."

"Stay put. Wait for me and don't do anything to provoke them. Remember, just be ready for battle but don't shoot unless they attack first."

"Copy, Lieutenant!"

Robert ended the call and went outside his office. As soon as he met all of the officers, they all together went to the port where Ensign Jonathan was assigned.

Amidst the wild waves, Okami's group could be seen treading the sea to reach Shells Town at Yotsuba Island. Mackie, in his Zoan Form, screeched as he glided in the air, his wings opened widely for all to see. "Ah! I love the feeling of the wind breeze hitting my face!"

Okami laughed boisterously while he rode atop his Gyarados' head. "You are the real Birdie Boy, Mackie! It seemed that you are already used to flying while acting as a Fearow in the sky, huh?"

"Yup!" Mackie flapped his wings and swiveled around Glen, who was in his Zoan form as well. "Hey, old man! Your face looked like the b.u.t.t of a centipede. It suits you."

Glen snorted. "Stop irritating me or I will blast you with my Hyperbeam. I'm in the mood to eat chicken for dinner!"

Makino was lying on top of Glen's head, shouting, "Ugh! Stop making a lot of noise! I can't properly sleep because of your loud voices."

Troy spouted water gun from his mouth, almost hitting Mackie. "Oops, sorry!"

Mackie flew toward Troy who was in Blastoise form and cried, "Wanna fight?!"

Troy created a stream of bubbles around him and replied, "Sure. Just tell me when. Don't cry after I beat you into a pulp."

Mackie was about to retort when he noticed the large crowd gathered on the shore. Because of his powerful sight, he was able to detect what was happening in that area and immediately soared toward Okami, and said, "Boss, there are marines. It looks like they are waiting for someone to arrive, and judging by how they are acting right now, that someone is us."

Okami understood why the marines were alerted with their arrival because of how his companions looked right now. Two dragons, a giant bird and a huge turtle could spell doom to their lives. He shrugged his shoulders and stood straight, his eyes staring at the large crowd. "Let me deal with this. Remember, don't be reckless and wait for my signal. If they are friendly, good, but if they start attacking, don't hesitate to retaliate. Just don't kill anyone because we don't want to become a wanted group as well. We still need to earn our Beli through bounty-hunting."

Everyone agreed and prepared themselves for any incoming attack as they traveled toward Shells Town.

Okami absorbed his defense-combo pokemon, executed the 'Harden' skill, and teleported right at the edge of the seashore.

Once the marines saw Okami appearing before them like a ghost, they began to panic. Some of them were about to shoot but luckily, the higher ranking officer was still sane enough to control the crowd. "Stop! Don't attack!"

Okami followed the source of the voice and smiled when he recognized the one who was in command. The marines gave way to him as he strutted toward the officer-in-charge. He smiled and said with a flippant tone, "You are indeed a true friend for bringing your soldiers in greeting me. How are you, Lieutenant Robert?"
