The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 11 - Are we heading home?

No one really knew when was the holy tower built nor who built it, people thought it was be than the kindgom itself, while some thought it is just a ridiculous theory, It was pointless anyway, to dwell about something that old, it was enough to know that the tower was a candle shining with God's lights, full of true worshipers and believers, those who seek knowledge for the best of all..

Of course the place wasn't as the people from the outside imagined it to be, the walls of the tower were built to keep secrets from the curious eyes, No one from the outside could step in or see what was inside, the windows were covered in thick colored glass, and only few high priests were allowed to walk in and out of the tower freely, those guilty with the sin of gossip were discarded secretly without anyone's notice, Making the tower the isolated pit it was...

So when Sara, who never saw the world outside first stepped out of the tower, it was a beautiful spring morning, a breeze hit the parts of her face that were not covered by the large hoodie, some strands of her silver hair broke loose and swayed around her face, giving her an angelic look, she walked in the warm sun and the fresh grass, The tower was surrounded with a huge garden for medical herbs, she did hear about it but didn't think it was that beautiful, it looked more beautiful than any painting on any book or wall, she did not only see the view but smelled and heard it, her eyes teared up and felt like she was taking her firsts steps, her first breathes, only now she felt alive...

Truth to be said the garden was not that beautifully designed, some of the herbs didn't even have flowers, it was well taken care of but no one payed attention to the artistic side of gardening thus it looked pretty normal to a normal spectator but to the girl who had been living in a cocoon all her life, it felt like stepping into heaven...

Sara always dreamed of going out, seeing the night stars, the oceans, the snow and the green fields, but the little girl realized in a very young age that it was not in her right to do so, to be like others, she listened to the conversations of the priests about the outside world, they were not so fond of it but at least it was their call, unlike them she was stripped of the right to like or hate it, she didn't have the right to choose, and why? Sara knew, deep in her little heart why, she knew she was something to hide, like a mistake or a disgrace...

She smiled at her smile brightly and shook her head to get rid of the gloomy thoughts, It was over, those days are over, she is leaving the tower along side her life in it, she felt her jaws hurt from smiling , she was happy, so happy she doubted it was all a dream but the feeling of the breeze on her skin told her it wasn't, no dream can feel this good, finally she will live like everyone else, enjoy the daily sunlight, have a family and friends, life looked so bright.. so as she held her father's arm elegantly, she asked with a voice full of joy and hope.. " are we heading home father? "

.....

"Your Majesty, it is almost sunset, it is not so wise to go out now.. "

King Edard gave his wife, Queen Katherina, a side look, not giving her any answer, he elegantly wore his cape hiding any signs of royalty on him, She was behaving this way for a while now, distant and absent, calling him with titles instead of his name like she used to, it was all annoying but he didn't have time nor energy to talk about it...

"You look the same as you did 15 years ago..i remember when you used to slip from the bed and disappear, i pretended to be asleep, i watched you leave every night for another woman" Queen Katherina said in a sad tone "same as i'am watching you now... even when she is dead, Historia can still take you away from me.. "

King Edard looked directly to the woman he married twenty two years ago for a fleeing second and said in a cold royal tone:"She is my daughter Katherina "

Queen Katherina watched her husband, the only man she ever loved disappear from her sights.. . just like he did 15 years ago, she couldn't help but to cry.. cry with the bitterness of 15 years..
